The room was very clean and new. All the appliance were in excellent shape, and there was a fully functioning kitchen with dishes, utensils, pots and pans. The bed was comfortable. The location is excellent. I would rate this higher, except for the items set out below. Although this is a self check in, the staff is very responsive and helpful. Don't be deceived by the outside of the building, it's an old building being renovated; the actual rooms are newly renovated.

If you are in one of the units facing the back of the building, you need to bring earplugs, since you are facing a row of bars. With a good set of earplugs I heard nothing. If it cool enough to close the windows the noise is tolerable. There is no air conditioner. For most of the stay this was not a problem, but the first two nights were too hot.

Loved the location, it is right downtown and so close to everything! Bars, restaurants, shopping, Rogers square! And it is like a little get away, the hotel itself is quiet and very charming and the suites which we stayed in on the top floor had the most gorgeous lookout with floor to ceiling windows, looking right out onto the water! The place was clean, spacious and came equipped with everything one could need for a short term stay! I plan on visiting the Cameo again and would absolutely recommend it to anyone staying in Halifax over any other hotel downtown!

The only thing that would have been better is if the beds were made during our stay instead of at the end of the stay

Perfect location to the Harborfront. Apartment was clean and comfortable 😌 Use of laundry room on either the 3rd or the 5th floor was a bonus as we were there for a week.

We were in Suite 410, there is a visible crack in the wall between our bedroom and another room in other Suite. In fact you can see the light coming in from that area. At night there was another couple arguing and it was like they were in the room with us! Sound proofing needs major improvement, not insulated enough. I also could hear that person snoring, lol.

The location is close to everything, however, that also means that for our unit 403 the bedroom window was next to an outdoor patio bar which played loud music until 2 am. The condo is well appointed with everything you could want so if you don't mind the noise and/or you want to be in the middle of the bar scene, it is a great unit. It is very clean and comfortable. We were 4 adults staying and we had plenty of room. There is a full-size fridge and dishwasher which worked very well. Laundry rooms are located on the 3rd and 5th floor and there is no charge for the use of the machines. Ice machines were also available. The beds were comfortable and the main bedroom was very spacious with lots of closet space. All towels, linens, dishes, cutlery, etc. was new and we weren't missing anything.

We were looking for a quiet place and this was quiet on 3 of the 4 nights of our stay. It was very noisy on the Friday night when the patio bar played loud music until 2 am. On Wednesday and Thursday night, it was quite cold and the music stopped early and it rained on Saturday so the outdoor patio was quiet. The second bedroom as the bed up against the wall so someone has to crawl over the other to get out of bed.

The 2-storey penthouse suite was phenomenal! Lots of space, a great patio overlooking the harbour, a full-size kitchen with fridge, stove, and dishwasher, lots of big windows bringing in natural light but also with black-out blinds when needed, very comfy bed, great shampoo/conditioner products, iron and ironing board, and no hassle with the remote check-in. Being centrally-located in Halifax with all these features yet comparable in price to other "standard" hotel rooms with the big hotel chains, the value and experience of staying at the Cameo Hotel could not be beat.

There was either no air conditioning, or I couldn't find the controls for it. When the sun came in the windows it got very warm. Keeping the shades drawn and opening the patio door helped, however, and it was cool at night for sleeping. I was there in mid-May and it was quite mild outside, but I imagine it might get very warm in the summer months.

Excellent location... Close to EVERYTHING! Besides a few small teething problems with a new build, Cameo is great value and very comfortable - Having a studio suite instead of the usual, tiny, cramped hotel room makes a huge difference. I would definitely stay here again! There's a place for breakfast being built too and that will be an incredible add-on once it's finished.

I reached out to management with a few small suggestions like aircon and under cabinet lighting in the kitchen and was assured that they are one step ahead and already scheduling installs for all of these creature comforts. The shower did take a while to drain but was once again assured that that is a teething problem and is being rectified very soon.

I love the check in process — fast, efficient, and self- driven. At first I was worried about the no staff on site policy, but I realized how efficient it was. Your rooms don’t get turned over every day, but that’s okay because they are give you enough of everything to manage for your stay. There is also free laundry on site, which is a total bonus — we would have packed lighter had we known! Rooms are very clean, everything is thought through very well — right down to door stoppers and compost bags. Also, communication with staff couldn’t be better. While you don’t interact with staff directly, they are always a text message away and will reply to your concerns within seconds. We met the manager on site and she was such a kind soul. Overall, a fabulous stay and we look forward to staying again.

one thing to note is the property is right beside a bar. One member of our party didn’t sleep until 2:30 am each night because the music was way to loud as their room was directly adjacent to the bar. Noise bylaws permit music until about 2 am I believe. The member of our group was very tolerant of it, but it did make the trip quite difficult for them as they got no sleep. If you are planning to take the town each night, this hotel is for you. if you are avid early sleepers, the music may disturb you. we completely understood, and eventually had to make peace with it. The hotel itself is amazing — they can’t control the music of course. It’s essentially like having an annoying neighbour.

The downtown location was very good. While there was no parking provided, there was a 24-hr lot about a block away with decent pricing.

In one bedroom you could here every word spoken in the next apartment. It was coming from a specific place and seems it could be fairly easily fixed by adding some sound proofing in that corner—wouldn’t even be noticeable. Luckily, the other party were not particularly noisy nor did they stay up very late. One of your cleaning staff was extremely helpful to us in the auto check-in process. That you only provide instant coffee to your traveling guests was a bummer.

Super easy to check in before arriving and have the door codes on hand making my arrival stress free - no lines waiting to speak to someone ! The room I had was spacious with a couch and tv (Netflix available!) There was a full kitchen with appliances and anything you would need to cook. Bathroom was stocked with body wash and 2-in-1 shampoo/conditioner - love the refillable dispensers that people are starting to use instead of mini individual bottles. Would definitely stay here again!

I felt a little unsafe using the luggage room for storage without an attendant - it was just a room with a code lock and camera, but really any guest could go in and out. Nothing got stolen and our things were there for a few hours, but I would feel safer with some sort of storage locker with individual codes.

This property was perfect for our little group! We loved that it was right downtown close to everything and offered the little 2 bedroom apartment style suite to make it our home away from home! We would definitely stay here again!

There was a hot water issue one day that took a few hours to fix but it was resolved and great during 90% of our stay! There is lots of activity downtown including bars nearby so be prepared for late night noise from an adjoining bar(s). We didn’t mind it at all as we are used to downtown city life.
