I recently had the pleasure of staying at ByWard Blue Inn in Ottawa, and I cannot recommend this hotel highly enough. From start to finish, my stay was simply fantastic. The location of the hotel is unbeatable. It is situated right in the heart of the bustling ByWard Market district, with an incredible selection of approximately 300 restaurants in the immediate vicinity. No matter what type of cuisine you prefer, you are guaranteed to find something suitable. It was a true delight to make new culinary discoveries every evening. The staff at ByWard Blue Inn deserves special praise. They were incredibly helpful, accommodating, and always went above and beyond to ensure that we had everything we needed. Whether it was recommendations for restaurants or attractions, they always had the best tips. The friendliness and professionalism of the staff played a significant role in making me feel at home. The breakfast at the hotel was simply fantastic. There was a diverse selection of fresh food options, catering to both those seeking a healthy start to the day and those who prefer something savory. The quality of the ingredients was excellent, and the service during breakfast was flawless. I was always able to begin the day with a delicious and nourishing meal. The rooms at ByWard Blue Inn are tastefully decorated and offer everything one could wish for. The furnishings are stylish and modern, and the amenities leave nothing to be desired. From the spacious safe to the refrigerator, coffee machine, and microwave, all the way to the fully equipped kitchen, I felt like I was in a second home. I also appreciated the cleanliness and upkeep of the rooms. All in all, my stay at ByWard Blue Inn was unforgettable. The location, helpful staff, fantastic breakfast, and stylishly appointed rooms contributed to a truly perfect experience. If you are looking for accommodations in Ottawa, I highly recommend this hotel. You won't regret it!

Lovely room after I had it changed to the one I'd actually booked. Large room, well appointed, bright and airy. Big bathroom, nice balcony. Cleaning staff was excellent! Great location.

As a single woman, I'm tired of being given the worst room and having to advocate for the one I booked. This was a big argument with reception actually shouting at me; it shouldn't have happened to begin with. One (only) of the cleaners was overly officious. And, for no reason, she knocked on my door when the Do Not Disturb sign was up. All the rest were fabulous! No blackout cutains. Kitchenette equipment was minimal--no cutting board, sharp knife, salad bowl or small plates--but I didn't ask for more, so maybe it was available on request.

We liked that the hotel was very close to Byward Market and all the bars and restaurants and was just a stone’s throw from the shopping centre, parliament buildings and the Rideau canal. We had a very nice, quiet, ground floor room which opened onto a small courtyard with tables and chairs where you could sit of an evening, which was lovely. There was a microwave, fridge, kettle, iron and ironing board, dressing gowns, and a hair dryer. The bathroom was fairly small but perfectly adequate, with a shower above a bath, a good size basin and plenty of complimentary toiletries. The breakfast was good, but the choice was a bit limited. All the staff were very friendly and helpful.

Nothing.

The location of the hotel was ideal. We were dropped off by our coach a few blocks away, and was an ideal base to get around the city. We had a generous sized 2 double bedroom suite, and both beds were in separate rooms, which was ideal as our party was my adult daughter plus my partner and me. The suite had a dining area/table plus a kitchenette area equipped with sink, coffee maker, kettle, fridge/freezer with supplies of tea/coffee etc, iron/ironing board and the suite also had a TV in each bedroom, and a balcony area so we could sit out in the evening. The breakfast which was included had plenty of choice. Would definitely recommend.

Could do with updating, but to be honest it had everything we needed, so was great value for money

The location is amazing right in the middle of the ByWard Market with plenty of restaurants and shops nearby; small « kitchenette »; my room had a nice balcony overlooking the market; the room was reasonably clean and comfy; Bed was very comfortable;

While the room was clean, furniture is a bit dated and no overly comfortable; noises from the corridors not well isolated; parking is awful and complicated…the inn has only 8 parking spot and it’s very cramped…if other patrons are not parking very tightly, then it’s easy to loose a whole space and the public parking right beside the inn is not particularly safe…but if you are traveling without a car, then it doesn’t matter; rates for the room are a bit high when compared with other options in the area;

Byward Blue is my favourite hotel in Ottawa. I don't stay anywhere else if I can get in here. Located in a quiet part of a street close to the Byward Market, but it doesn't get the noise from there. Staff are lovely and the rooms are beautiful, clean and well equipped with a small kitchenette. Rooms have either a balcony or garden terrace area. Good breakfast is included in the price, served at a sensible time.

Not the hotel, as the part of the street it is on is fine - but the area around the Byward Market / Rideau Street has gone really downhill. I didn't feel safe walking alone even in early evening before dark.

The room was wonderful! More like a suite. My teen son settled into the smaller room immediately and was very comfortable there. Very clean, comfy beds, kitchenette with mini fridge, microwave, china and utensils. Bathrobe and slippers! Very few of the chain hotels provide these anymore. Nightstands had large drawers. The balcony, with tables and chairs, was nice to sit out on in the evenings. The complimentary breakfast was well done and had a variety of options to suit any diet. A quiet location, right in Byward Market.

We're spoiled now! 😂

This property offered the best facilities in the room that we have encountered in 3 weeks travel. The small kitchenette provided a tea pot and tea bags ( welcomed by us Brits !) as well as good coffee machine. The Bsthroom was well appointed including an enlarged mirror. Shower was powerful and all very clean. The Breakfast was brilliant with full choice from fruit and yoghurt through croissants and cooked egs and bacon. The best we have been offered in an inclusive price. Location was excellent with only 5 mins stroll into Byword Market and 10 mins to Parliament hill. This was all brilliant for us as we didn’t have long in the city. This was a great hotel offering good value for money in central location.

This place is fantastic. It's in a great location, in that lots of places are within walking distance and there are also good transport links for going further afield. The staff are great, nothing is too much trouble. The elevator was out of service during my stay and a staff member carried my suitcase up to the 5th floor for me, and offered to move me to a lower floor the following day when they had availability. But I liked my room so much that I was willing to climb the stairs to get there. I booked a room with a balcony at the back of the property, which was extremely quiet. My friend was on the street side a few floors down and noted it wasn't particularly quiet, but also was not disruptively noisy. (There are a lot of popular bars in this quartier, and it's a wonderfully lively place.) The rooms are big and comfortable, with a proper desk and comfortable chairs. There's a microwave, fridge-freezer, coffee machine and kettle, so guests have the option to be self-catering for some or all of their stay. The breakfast is so, so good. Best scrambled eggs I've ever had. Great coffee too! I will absolutely come back here. It's a gem of a place.

Even the best hotel could be improved by having a hotel cat. But other than that, this place was absolutely perfect for my needs.

All of the staff were welcoming and helpful, from the front desk, housekeeping and maintenance and dining room. The room was very clean and everything that I wanted and needed was supplied. In fact, I was told by everyone, "If you need anything else, please let us know." The air-conditioning in the room worked very well during a prolonged heat spell. The buffet breakfast that was included in the room price was very nice, and we could take our breakfast up to our room to have it while I was working on my computer and making phone calls for work. A very quiet location very close to the ByWard Market area of Downton Ottawa. Walkable to most of the locations and sites I wanted to go to for work, and I have some mobility limitations, so usually cannot walk as far as many younger people!

I would have liked more variety in the fresh fruit offering than cut p watermelon and fresh pineapple chunks every day for the entire 6 days I stayed there. I do not eat meat, so more cheese offerings would have been appreciated. There was a slice of cheese in the fried egg inside an English muffin daily option, though again, that, along with the scrambled eggs, got quite repetitive. I would have loved to see some French toast with real Canadian maple syrup offered as an alternating choice. Also, I asked about "Gluten-free" bread and pastry options in advance of my stay, and I was only told that they have "an extensive buffet"... but there was never any Gluten free bread, muffins or other pastries or cereal options.
