The room was lovely and spacious with modern decor, and each day the staff left us a little gift--truffles or drinks, etc. The staff was very helpful with recommendations and tips for getting around.

The noise, though this may not necessarily be a typical problem since we were there during the Grand Prix weekend. Every night we were kept awake until about 4am from people partying in the street outside a bar/club across from the hotel. Our room was on the front side of the hotel (above the main door), and the windows of the room couldn't block out the noise.

The 5th floor room was nice and large with a comfortable bed, large bathroom and a very good working AC that kept the room comfortable. The valet service was excellent and each guy was very polite while we entered the hotel by greeting us. The location of this hotel is the best. It is within walking distance of everything we wanted to see and do in Old Montreal.

The pillows could have been better. The restaurants were nice but expensive. Staff within the restaurants were not very talkative. Not the hotels fault, but they could have given prior warning when booking the hotel or discounted the price, but outside our room was construction on another building which started very early in the morning and there was a dumpster and recycling that got picked up around 5:30 in the morning waking us up.

The room, service, and hotel was AMAZING. I've never had such a huge, and beautiful space...and the bathroom was incredible. Everything was very clean, the bed was so comfortable, and the service was wonderful. Housekeeping was very attentive and we loved the turndown service with the chocolate and water every night. the valets and front desk were personable and charming, and the spa service was wonderful. The free yoga class was a lovely touch. The neighborhood was beautiful. I loved having the basilica right outside the door of the hotel, and being able to take my coffee there and watch the sun come up each morning. Amine and Sam were great and gave very helpful recommendations. The coffee shop "Inevitable" was right around the corner and had wonderful coffee, pastries, and homemade pizza.

The lunch service on our first day there left much to be desired. Our waiter ignored us after a big party came in. Fortunately, the bartender, manager and another waiter picked up his slack...still, we felt rather slighted by him. After taking our order, he never came back except to drop the bill.

A tastefully refurbished complex of beautiful buildings right in the middle of old Montreal. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. Our room was very spacious and had all amenities one can wish for. Excellent King bed, huge bathroom with enormous walk-in shower. The hotel has a roof top bar with stunning views on the city. There is a very nice looking restaurant and a basement Japanese resto-bar (that we didn't have the time to try). Metro station is 4 minutes on foot.

Our room (2nd floor) was a little dark and the choice of dark furniture made it a bit gloomy on cloudy days. It would have been nice if we could have opened the windows.

Really lovely building and location just a few steps from the Notre Dame Basilica of Montréal and the Place d'Armes Metro. The hotel was kind and upgraded me to Deluxe King Bed room at no extra cost, which was spacious and met all my needs. Plus the AC did a really great job at keeping the room cool during the very hot and humid days during my visit. Overall service was great and would be happy to stay here again during my next visit. (Also to whoever helped me check out at the front desk at noon on Saturday Sept 9, I just want to say I'm so sorry I didn't understand your question and left before I was able to answer it properly.)

Noise would leak in from the street outside and the hallway.

The location was excellent and the individual rooms charming. The Spa was superb. The Japanese Restaurant was by far the best Japanese one I have ever been to and I’ve been to many.

However charming, the lighting in the individual rooms was way too dim. There was no bedside switch so I had to turn out what little light there was and walk across a dark room to find the bed. Certainly unable to read either in bed or the arm chair. Fortunately another guest brought me their desk light which I put near the bed. Everything else was great but this situation was unacceptable. I did give this feedback to the person at the front desk when checking out. Ask to see the room they assign you before accepting it to be sure you don’t have the same situation. A big surprise for a otherwise lovely hotel

OK, I mentioned that it was our 25th anniversary. When we arrived, the staff informed us that, in honor of our special occasion, they had upgraded our room to a junior suite, a significantly more expensive room (no charge of course) with lots of space, a sofa, big windows overlooking a little park and the skyline, big bathroom with jacuzzi tub. A great surprise. Saw some reviews about noise on Rue St. Jacques and asked for a quiet room. Ours was on the other side of the building and proved very quiet, though we did book in the middle of the week, so street noise probably wasn't an issue anyway. And after all, we're in the city, and the location of this hotel is ideal. I asked the concierge to arrange for the delivery of a bouquet, and it was waiting for us on the coffee table. After the porter left and we had settled in, I jokingly complained that a really great hotel would have left us a bottle of champagne. It wasn't 5 minutes before we heard a knock on the door, and there stood a smiling messenger with a bottle of bubbly in a bucket of ice. What a great start to our stay in Montreal. Kyo a fine Japanese restaurant, creative offerings worth the price, and a big rooftop bar with great cocktails and open views across the city. Didn't try Brasserie 701, but they happily handed me a couple ceramic cups and pitchers of milk for our morning brew from the Nespresso machine. Valet parking was quick and convenient. There are cheaper garages nearby, but hey, we splurged. Email communication with concierge and front desk before our arrival was fast and satisfying. All staff -front desk, valets, porters, housekeeping were consistently cheerful, helpful, and professional.

It would have been nice to be able to open the windows, get a breeze, connect with the city. But I'm sure it was a challenge to design the windows to work with the layout of the old building. Air conditioning a bit loud, but we got used to it.

The staff at this hotel is the single best reason to stay here. They are top notch all the way. From the sidewalk all they way through check in, concierge (really a champion!), turndown service, rooftop bar, and check out. As a frequent traveler, this is quite possibly the very best hotel staff I have ever encountered. Also, the location can't be beat regardless of whether you're in Montreal for pleasure or work.

To be overly nit-picky, I think the hotel could try harder on room conditions. The hotel in general is a bit tired. The AC was loud and the sofa bed not comfortable for sleeping (by contrast the king bed was spectacular). It certainly was above average but I guess I was expecting 'over the top' given the price.

Perfect location, walking distance to everything in old Montreal

We liked everything. The only down parts were we found the blinds pretty light so we would wake up super early everyday . Also we were charged for a alcohol beverage when I looked over our receipt that we didn’t have. We bought our own white claws from the store down the street and had those, we even left a whole unopened pack of them because we wernt in our room very much. So that’s disappointing because it is obviously over priced, it was just me and my boyfriend so we know we didn’t drink anything else.

Staff and all round hospitality was fantastic! Hotel decor and vibe was perfect, as it set the tone every morning to experience the culture of Montreal! Location was also perfect for experiencing Old Montreal by foot!

Improvements could be made on timeliness of completing requests. We had to wait more than 30min for a Porter to help take down our bags on check-out. If the request could not be completed in the requested timeframe, front desk could have simply informed us of this, so we were not left to wait. In the end we walked down to the front desk to advise we were still waiting and we went out for lunch whilst the hotel organized for the bags to be put in storage.
