November 2022
Location was fantastic and very close to the Metro. It was also very close to Old Montreal. The hotel is right downtown and I found it very easy to get around to other parts of the city. If location is key for you, this hotel is a good bet. Not a ton of bells and whistles. Room was simple but clean and very warm. Cheap and cheerful which is exactly what I wanted.
The bed was not that comfortable. If you are person with limited mobility, this hotel will present challenges. You can only access the hotel by walking up a flight of stairs and you have to climb down and climb up stairs to access most of the rooms. Not a problem for me, but a person with limited mobility would find access almost prohibitive as there is no elevator access.

The location was great, especially if your in town for the many summer festivals, which are literally out the front door. It was just down the block from MTELUS which hosts ALOT of concert venues, we were in town to see Two Feet. The cost for 3 of us in a shared room was affordable. It kinda has hostel vibes, which we all enjoyed, offers continental breakfast for all guests. The inside of the hotel is clean. Check out time is noon.
Stairs!! Lots of Stairs.....our room was on the 3rd floor, which is fine, however they were killer after a full day of walking Montreal, everyday is leg day in Montreal 😂. Also if you don't like rats, don't go on the terrace as there is a possibility you may see one or two scurry by while enjoying some fresh air.

Above all, the location. Then the price, the pleasant, professional staff and the old [n.b.: really old]-school charm. I had a comfortable bed and a great view out to the lively, colorful corner of Bl. St. Laurent and Rue Ste. Catherine. In general, the place offered everything I needed and nothing that I didn't need, at a price that made my stay affordable. I stayed at the property some years ago and thus this time had a sort of "at home" feeling.
What I did not like was the pulsing, intrusive sound of the "Festival MUTEK" in the adjacent [and ironically named] Esplanade Tranquille, which boomed until 11pm most evenings and until Midnight my last evening. Some might have found this a total deal-breaker. I simply found it to be an annoyance that, under the circumstances, I was ultimately willing and able to abide. The hotel staff was sympathetic to my expression of concern.

Room was quite and kitchen was equipped. Very quite no noise, if you are travelling and you are looking to get easily in the centre, there is the bus service from airport to the hotel. 3 minute walk from the hotel every 10-15 minute you will get the bus to the airport. Perfect location; everything is close like supermarket, mall, downtown. Staffs were friendly, they will make your stay comfortable do not hesitate to ask for help. Breakfast is OK with that price but they did their best by providing fruits and brown and white bread. :)
Carrying luggage to first floor is bit difficult. Be prepared for it.

Fanastic aesthetic in an excellent location for an unbeatable price. Personally, I like the Victorian aesthetic, setting off Steampunk imagery in my mind. Their downsides are things I don't care about. They have minimal service to support your stay, so this place works well for those who prefer to take care of themselves. They still give you towels and shampoo/soap though. I still used my own shampoo. The beds are a bit stiffer than plush chain hotels, but I slept great on them. They had a window AC, but it was too cold out to use it, so jury's out on that one. This is my hotel in Montreal. I will be back, often.

The location was unbelievable you go out the door and you're in the heart of downtown we didn't take one bus or one Subway. The only traveling we did was to and from the airport that's it.
An elevator would have been great going up those stairs with your luggage and having to do those stairs was a little hard but other than that your hotel is very nice and the complimentary breakfast is very worth it.

In general we had a really comfortable stay at this hotel. The staffs were very friendly and helpful. The continental breakfast didn’t have a lots of varieties but you get what you paid for, but still we really enjoyed the breakfast. The hotel is located in the centre so almost everything is within walk in distance. It was our first time travelling to Montreal but still we managed to visit almost all the tourist areas around downtown by walking. The only down side of the hotel I would is cleanliness. The room we stayed in was so stingy, and the whole bed, bedsheet, pillowcase including the closet itself was so smelly we couldn’t stand it anymore, so we asked the staff to either have the new bedsheets on or have us in different room. As a result, they moved us to different room which is little better than the previous one. As a whole, I would recommend this hotel to all the people who are looking for a centrally located and not too pricey hotel.
Cleanliness of the room and loud noises from outside

Very clean rooms, hallways and lobbies! Even in the winter! Super central location on Ste Catherine, cannot get any closer to big attractions in MTL. Breakfast was simple but fine. Room small but that was expected at the price we paid, and was well appointed with everything we needed. We chose to pay for a private bathroom and were glad we did, the bathroom was (literally sparkling) clean and a good size. Would stay here again, especially for the price.
There are a LOT of stairs so if you have mobility issues, please keep this in mind. No elevator at all. That was really the only negative.

Ac needs time to get cold, but worked well once on for like an hour. Comfortable cool stay, breakfast of grains (toast, cereals,) plus packets of jam, Nutella and butter, apples and bananas and raisins, coffee and orange juice, hot cocoa, simple but does the job on a budget. The location cannot be best for price for the area. We went for jazz fest and were less than 5 min from the main stage. Lots of steps! Mobility issues be warned, but all for all very happy with my stay, price for the location, plus simple breakfast? Can’t be beat.

Manager, staff, location and breakfast are the best things I like. Manager and staffs are very friendly and helpful. They help you beyond your need. Very comfortable environment and no pressure, feels like staying in your friend's house. Location is excellence, All Restaurants are just walking distance. All landmarks are nearby ,save time to reach wherever you want.
stairs towards the hotel is a little steep. to fix the staircase by gradual slope will be helpful for elderly.
