The property is in perfect location. The building is beautiful. The room was spacious and clean and we had a very comfortable stay. The room was cleaned every day and towels were change and all toiletries restocked. There was a nespresso machini and free coffee capsules in the room. Sheets were super clean and fresh and the bed very comfortable. The view was also very nice. Toilet is very nice, with heated seats and quite modern.
Because of the humidity in the air, the room smells a bit damp, despite the dehumidifier in the room. We had to extend the stay for one day, and the second room (standard twin room) was very outdated, wallpaper falling out, old carpet, no dehumidifier and quite expensive.

The hotel was built by LĂĄszlĂł Hugyec, who, like us, was Hungarian and came from what is now Slovakia, the same country we come from. This is one of the reasons we chose the Park Hotel, as it made us feel at home. Since we are Hungarians from Slovakia (just like Hugyec was), we were delighted to find a Tokaji room in the hotel, which features a Hungarian flag, the Hungarian coat of arms, Hungarian wines, and Hungarian posters. On the memorial wall, we even found Hungarian text written by Hugyecâs nephew. This was truly heartwarming for us. Thank you! The hotel is in the city center and close to the metro station.
The window is poorly insulated.

If you're planning to visit Shanghai, love Art-Deco, interested in architecture, and history this hotel is the best choice. The building is masterfully designed. There are fascinating details hidden within these historic walls. This jewel box was the tallest in Asia for decades. It was designed by Hungarian-born LĂĄszlĂł Hudec. The most famous and richest dignitaries of the time stayed here long ago.
Unfortunately, its shine is worn out by now. It could be much more cleaner. Could have more services. I really wish the Hotel had the opportunity to undertake renovations to preserve this wonderful building. The building is simply so impressive and the reception is so helpful that I couldn't be angry about the room overlooking the air channels.

We felt welcome when we arrived at the hotel. We were attended immediately without long lineups at the reception. The staff was courteous. We were impressed with the front door bell boy service. He immediately help us to carry the luggage when he spotted us. We were also impressed with the fact that there's a staff to press the elevator button for you. We booked a standard double bed room and it was comfortable and quite spacious. The location of the hotel is perfect, just a stone throw away from People's Square Metro station (exits 8 or 9). The bonus of these 2 exits has escalators, thus no need to hoist the luggage up and down the stairs. There was a small museum inside the hotel to explain and display it's history.
Mold on the caulking in bathroom. The anchor on the shower head was so loose that the shower head couldn't be fixed. It caused the water to splash everywhere.

The hotel is located in a historical building and is a landmark of Shanghai in itself. People come here just for a tour, as it was a meeting place for the upper crust of Shanghai in the early 19th century. The hotel has many different types of rooms, but they are all in very good condition, clean and equipped with everything you need. Some historical elements of the decor have slight "traces of time", but everything is neat and clean. The staff is polite, well trained. A limited number of staff speak a little English, but this is not a feature of this hotel, but a common practice. Be prepared that upon check-in you will be asked for a deposit, which may be more than the cost of accommodation for all days, the payment will be written off upon check-out. Breakfast is served in a buffet format with a large selection of both traditional Chinese cuisine and dishes adapted for European guests, the choice of dishes is quite large. The hotel has a very good location. Immediately opposite the hotel across the road is the People's Park, not a very large, but a picturesque park where Shanghainese themselves walk and guests enjoy walking. The famous pedestrian shopping street Nanjing Road (East) starts at a distance of 100-200 meters from the hotel, where there are countless large shopping malls, small shops, food courts, restaurants and small national snack bars. Along this street, you can walk to the famous Waitan Bund in 30-40 minutes.

The hotel location is convenient, is near the metro. The staff are very helpful. I booked the wrong type of room due incorrect description in the platform and they are willing to do a free upgrade for me. They are also accommodating in the breakfast arrangement for us. The toilet has seat warmer and bidet, which is very good. Although is an old hotel, they tried to improve the facilities in the hotel. There are a lot of food near the hotel, such as the popular ĺ°çžçç ĺ and 佳厜湤ĺ , and is near the Nanjing Pedestrian Street. Is a good place to stay.

Location was excellent, right next to the metro station that has direct connections to the Railway Station and Airport. City sightseen bus stop is only few meters away, which is handy if only visiting the city shortly. Restaurants and shopping in the immediate vicinity. Hotel is old and historical, locating Shanghais zero point. The breakfast was diverse, which was enjoyable.
Some update could be done to the rooms. The drain was not running in the shower, so the shower water was up to my ankles. Didn't bother me that much though.

I recently stayed at Park Hotel in Shanghai and had a positive experience, particularly with the front desk staff. Despite a few unforeseen issues during my stay that left me feeling a bit stressed, the team was patient, understanding, and took the time to explain the situation to me clearly and professionally. While some language barriers are to be expected, the staff's English was more than sufficient to communicate effectively, and their polite, accommodating attitude made a real difference in my stay. In addition to the excellent service, the hotel's location was very convenient, making it easy to get around. The facilities were also well-maintained, offering everything I needed for a comfortable stay. Overall, the combination of helpful staff, good location, and solid facilities made my stay enjoyable, and I would certainly consider staying here again.
They donât seem to be taking payment from abroad so instead of company paying for the room had to pay it with my credit card and claim it as expenses.

The location of the hotel is excellent! Very central, very close to the Bund, right on Nanjing Street! I am Hungarian, and I know a lot about the hotel's history and its architect, Hudec Laszlo, so I booked the Park specifically for its history and its Hungarian connection. It was a sweet gesture that the hotel offered me a free breakfast, not sure they did so because of my nationality, but I would like to think so! ;) It is a gorgeous building, solid marble, granite and wood, still the most stable of all the high rises in Shanghai; they do not make them like this anymore. It is also strategically super interesting: the center of the hotel's lobby is point zero of the city of Shanghai, they first mapped Shanghai in the 1950s from the Park Hotel!
Well, it is a four star hotel, so my expectations were satisfied at that level. For a five star experience, I would expect more sophisticated ways of handling guests. I think Park Hotel is doing quite well at their level, especially if they want to keep it. Rooms are small, but I expected them to be, and I found them charming, though the furniture is a bit dated, The bathroom is top notch, though. By the way, they have a great exhibition about the hotel's history on the second floor; I just feel that those wonderful silver wares they have on display could be polished. ;)

Location, could not be more central. This historic hotel is the setting of the origin point for all distances in Shanghai. In the lobby stands a brass round plaque with a map, wich marks the distance 0. Set on People Square, just next to Shanghai Grand Theater, the PacĂfic Hotel, the Shanghai nâ°1 departement store, the Word Emporium, and other historic builldings, it stands also near the Shanghai Museum and the new Opera House. 3 metro lines serve the place and are just across the Street. The buillding itself, is well preserved and has magnificent Art Deco features. Toghether with the Peace Hotel, not too far in the Bund, is undoubtly one of the best exemples of Art Deco in this glittering city.
Can't say there was something y dislike.
