This is a long but also a very detailed review. So, get ready to embark on this epic journey! — or not, your choice ;) LOCATION: In our opinion, the location is prime! If you have a car you are: 9 mins away from La Fortuna waterfall; 2 mins say from El Salto; 4 minutes away from Downtown; 2 minutes away from a huge super market; 10 mins away from the thermals; 25 mins away from Místicos (and I can keep going)—or you can walk to all this places and you’ll be in the best shape of your life when you go back home! PREMISES/HOTEL: let me start by saying that my family and I would absolutely comeback here and stay; we loved our stay. With that said, I have to give an honest review of this hotel. NATURE: the nature on the premises is unreal! I know Costa Rica prides on their nature but this hotel went beyond our expectations (this includes the gecko that scared the crap out of my when I was in the shower) STAFF—was extremely helpful all the time! Zero complains ROOM—looking for a place to sleep, do your necessities, shower, and eat breakfast? This is it! Nothing fancy about the room. It is your basic place to leave your valuables and then go and explore! With that said, they’re not bad! Very spacious and every appliance worked!! INCLUDING THE SAFE!!! I KNOW! SURPRISE, SURPRISE!! BREAKFAST—okay so, in our opinion, it was good. It’s all you can eat style (which I took advantage of) it included: eggs, two kinds of meats, bread, rice and beans, vegetables, plantains, coffee, tea, fruits, etc… NOOOOOW, if you’re staying for more than 4 days, then it can get a little bit boring because it’s the same thing everyday. Again, it’s a great breakfast, just keep the last comment in mind if you’re doing a long stay POOL: swimming pool was awesome!!! You get in, get wet, and get out!

Again, definitely not trying to destroy their reputation as we truly truly enjoyed our stay but… the beds were very uncomfortable! (Maybe I’m just getting old you know! After all, 30s is the new 70s… right? Hahaha) The water pressure was very soft! But not a big deal, just spend little extra time in the shower singing new songs haha!

We loved our stay at Arenal Country Inn and will definitely be back - it is so well located within 5 minutes of the special La Fortuna Waterfall and the restaurants of the main town, this family run hotel also serves an amazing breakfast ! We stayed as a couple but for the size of rooms /villa would be great for a family (1 large double and a single). We accidentally left some important things in our room and the hotel were wonderful in arranging their quick and safe return !

Nothing - this is a great hotel / really good value

The breakfast and staff were amazing. Fresh juice was so good I'm going home and buying a juicer. Jackie at the front desk was amazing so helpful, kind and patient with my many questions. The property was beautiful, clean and the pool was so great. We also loved the little game room in the barn - brought back some family fun and good old competition

Only thing I'd change is maybe adding a snack/pool bar open like 4-8:30pm (when the pool closes) - nothing major simple snack foods like fries, chip and gac, quesadillas, hamburgers maybe, all easy snacks and drinks just something for when you don't want to leave the property after a long day of adventures but need something more then chips

Large pool, with a great view of Volcan Arenal. Great breakfast, friendly and very helpful receptionist. Comfortable beds. Spacious bathroom and shower. Spotted blue jeans frogs in the grounds! Walking times approx 5 min to El Salto, 5 min to supermarket, 10-15 min to town, 10 min to Arenal Mundo for ziplining.

Nowhere to hang wet clothes (either from a dip in the pool or from getting caught in a downpour!). Small outside (sheltered) space out front of our room, too much of a squeeze for 4 people to sit comfortably at the small table.

Grounds were stunning teaming with wildlife we saw toucans , Jesus Christ lizards and lots of lizards and birds. Breakfast was plentiful pool was always quiet and perfect for a dip after a long day out hiking. Room was spotless and toiletries provided. Kettle and pool towels provided for a deposit Location brilliant 500m for el salto swing and river and about 5 mins walk into La fortuna.

Nothing it was a brilliant start to our holiday would highly recommend. Bring flipflops to walk round pool tho as concrete is a little rough on the feet.

i had stayed at the same hotel many years ago and the rooms had noisy celing fans. This time around they have quiet A/C units instead and the rooms ceilings seems to have been elevated, if I recall correctly from that previous visit. Much better

Having to grab an umbrella to go to the breakfast area? If there was a roof above the walkways , it would be even better. But that´s not a major issue. Just room for improvement

Hot water, bed, room, well maintained property, friendly and helpful staff.

No coffee maker and microwave in the room, no restaurant on the site make you go out every time for meal. This might be challenging when it rains or for families with kids. Quality of breakfast. Thin walls between rooms - I really mean thin! 😃

We enjoyed the cleanliness of the grounds, pools, and all the different wildlife on site. The location is perfect to a lot of the attractions we came to see. The breakfast was a nice added benefit.

A little league baseball team came in late one evening and were VERY loud. They were running around outside very late and banging around inside their rooms. They woke us up at 2am. There's no staff on site after 9pm so there was no one to get them calmed down.

The premises are great. The pool was quite nice and almost never attended by anyone except for us. A kneel-billed toucan flies to visit almost every day. You are going to wake up at 6:30 from birds chirping their bills off, and not going to complain one bit. The staff was very nice and helpful, too.

The street this hotel is on does not have sidewalks (or rather, they are broken and on one side of the road only), crosswalks and has poor lighting. Walking from dinner alone at night would be fairly stressful. Costa Rican drivers are not exactly nice and considerate.

Beautiful gardens and well kept grounds. Nice big pool are with lounge chairs. Full buffet style breakfast included. Property fees very safe—security cameras all around and gated entrance. Only a couple of minutes drive outside the main town and there are restaurants within walking distance.
