This was great value for a shoulder season price. The property has a charm to it that is unique to itself. The staff were all very friendly and accommodating to provide service and information. I was in need of laundry service which was fabulous affordable and fast. The location to Arenal is great if you get the chance to see the volcano emerge from the clouds you can catch the best view from the pool.

The sound proofing between rooms is nonexistent so if you are a light sleeper and or a noisy person checks-in next to you this is not a place for you. The gentleman in the next room was quite sick during the first two days of my stay and I felt as if he was in my room coughing. The property overall is quiet which helps however any noise is quite noticeable.

The property was beautiful. We loved the included breakfast and the staff were very friendly and helpful, evening providing umbrellas on a rainy evening. The location is great for walking around downtown.

The wifi in our room was pretty horrible. Our room was on the outer edge of the property so that may be why. I got great wifi while at the pool and other areas of the property. My other complaint is very minor, there weren't enough outlets in the room for charging electronics. I had to charge my phone and watch in the bathroom while my husband charged his in the bedroom. There weren't any outlets that are within reaching distance of the bed.

The front desk staff that checked us in were noce, very helpful, pretty good English, but we did try to speak Spanish when we could. Decent, clean, basic rooms, nice bathroom & shower. Not plush, but if you want decent on a budget - it's perfect. Hotel breakfasts were a highlight - we picked the local option with eggs, beans and rice and plantains- but they had sausage & pancakes options too. They were able to book a couple of tours for us too - all good experiences. We booked the Coffee & Chocolate tour they recommended - amazing, hilarious and fun. Would stay again.

Beds were a little basic - not very plush but did the job.

The rooms at Hotel El Secreto in La Fortuna are located in the middle of a beautiful garden and - when the weather is nice - you have a direct view of the El Arenal volcano. Our room was very spacious, clean and well equipped. As it rained quite a bit, the air conditioning was very useful, otherwise our clothes would never have dried. The pool and sun loungers were perfect for relaxing after an excursion. For breakfast you could choose between three options, which were good and sufficient. During breakfast you could watch the birds in the garden.The center is within 5 minutes walking distance. A sloth can often be found in the tree next to the entrance, which is of course very exciting.

A few options for storing or hanging garments would be very useful.

Very comfortable king-bed room room, excellent shower, so nice to have the view of the lovely grounds out my door. Appreciated having fridge and safe in room. Reception staff were very pleasant and helpful. Location is convenient, close to main square, walkable to Sendero Bogarin. Would stay there again if I return to La Fortuna. (and yes the resident sloths were still present in early Dec 2023)

Would have liked a little more shelf or counter space in the bathroom-- though there is plenty in the room just outside the bathroom door. I found the room quiet at night. The third evening, though noise from TV in room next door was quite noticeable, so sound proofing might be an issue if you are unlucky with neighbours.

This is a reasonably-priced property that is in a fabulous location - easy walk into the heart of La Fortuna but set at the end of a private quiet street. Just a block from a favorite restaurant - Snappers and near several spas. Best feature is the kind, friendly, professional staff. We also loved the breakfast, which was included in the room price - included coffee/tea, fresh fruit, choice of three options for main entree. On the property, we viewed a sloth and several stunning birds. Short drive to Ecocentro Danaus - a conservation site with butterflies, birds, sloth tours we highly recommend - as well as about 20 min. drive to waterfall and Arenal hikes. It was cloudy so we didn't use the pools on premices, but we saw a few others enjoying them.

We had three people in the room (two beds) so it was a bit snug.

Comfortable friendly hotel with lovely gardens and view of the volcano. Quiet but walkable location and safe easy car parking. It is an older hotel, showing signs of age and takes groups. The staff were very helpful and friendly. the closest sloth we saw in Costa Rica was in their tree at the entrance!

Could do with some maintenance of paths and concrete. Rooms are a bit dated and smaller than pictured.

Room was very clean every day and had an excellent view of the volcano. Pool was a nice perk on a hot afternoon after a morning activity. The hotel is really well located for access to La Fortuna town and all of the restaurants and experiences. All of our activities picked us up from the hotel. The hotel are able to arrange tours for you too. The staff feed left over fruit from breakfast to the exotic birds so you can bird watch while enjoying your pancakes! A real perk was seeing the resident Iguanas and Sloths chilling in the trees around the hotel!

Breakfast could have been more varied but was plenty big enough and provided a good start to the day. The room is a little noisy once people start getting up at 6AM, but that seems to be the case in Costa Rica more generally.

We absolutely loved our stay at Hotel Secreto La Fortuna! We were greeted by a warm welcome by the team, who were always available to help and were extremely friendly. Our room was spacious and modern. Each room has its own covered porch area with seats and a table. The best and our favourite part is the tropical garden, the volcano view and the pool area - OMG so beautiful and relaxing! The location is also excellent - you are right in the centre minutes away from all the bars and restaurants yet on a very quite lovely road

This beautiful property truly lives up to it’s name. Hidden down at the end of a street, just 2 blocks from downtown and La Fortuna Plaza. A real gem! Had 2 sloths living in the trees at the property, a two-toed sloth and a three-toed sloth. The rooms look out over a beautiful manicured garden of botanical plants. Our room was clean and fresh and the bed was very comfortable! Our Hotel concierge Elver was so kind and knowledgeable! He even gave us his version of a Night Tour and showed us Glass Frogs found on the property. He identified many birds for us on the property. We LOVED this place! It’s a Secret garden and Hotel. ❤️
