It was within walking distance to the beach and good restaurants. It’s about 10-15 minutes from downtown on a little hit that’s not too bad. If you don’t want to walk up it, there are plenty of rentable scooters and Ubers. Both are really cheap to the hotel but walking is not too bad at all. The breakfast was delicious and has three options that change every day. Pretty much every day has options of eggs and pancakes with something that alternates. You order the meal and there’s buffet style juice, coffee, fruit, and toast. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. They let us adjust plans when unprecedented rain caused several landslides that prevented us from getting to the hotel on time. The pool was amazing and kept clean. While swimming at night we saw a family of raccoons come by and it was awesome. There was lots of wildlife we were able to see from a safe distance. We never had issues with bugs or anything of the sort in our room. 10/10 stay and I would recommend to anyone going to Tamarindo. It was the best place we have stayed in Costa Rica.

I liked that it was NOT a huge property, but the rooms were large & very clean, and the grounds are lush & tropical. The hosts Martha & Steve are so welcoming & helpful! The breakfasts are made to order and wonderful! :) Staff are friendly. I highly recommend Tamarindo Village!!

If you have people with walking impairments, you will be walking uphill from the beach at the end of a day! But honestly, our group didn’t mind; it was good to get our steps in, and we enjoyed relaxing by the pool at the property.

Felt immersed in nature, the price was great, the breakfast was fantastic, and the on-site pets were sweet. Our room was clean and spacious, and the bed was comfortable. I liked that there was an extra blanket as it's hard for me to sleep with only a sheet. The owner and staff were very friendly as well. We only stayed one night as we were meeting friends at a larger hotel but if it was just the two of us I would have stayed here longer.

The location was a little bit of a walk from the main part of town but very manageable and made for a good night's rest since it was quieter.

I really enjoyed our stay here and was happy to support a family run hotel! The location is about a 10 minute walk from the rest of town and beach, and is on a hill that separates it from the bustle of Tamarindo. The garden made me feel like I was back in the jungle, and while we didn’t see any I heard monkeys may sometimes visit! I wish I was able to have more of the breakfast, but what I did have was very good, some of the tastiest rice and beans I had on the trip (of which there were many). The a/c worked intensely, which is very much needed in the extremely hot and humid Tamarindo. They put a bow on the toilet made from toilet paper which I found so cute and funny lol. I would absolutely recommend compared to other properties in Tamarindo; the other hotels I viewed didn’t look as good for their value. I booked through booking.com because I didn’t understand the differences of the rooms in on website.

The space for parking is small but that’s a nitpick.

The honour system bar, the room with private terrace, kitchenette and a huge bathroom, the pool upkeep, the friendly hosts, the free breakfast! The groundskeeper sweeping up before we awoke! The other guests mingling over breakfast. Also liked that our hosts were happy to arrange tours and our shuttles from and back to the airport.

The location up from the main drag. The roads are a bit treacherous (I fell twice slipping off the sloped edge). (Of course, it's still not a far walk to the beach, but far enough that the black Voldemort birds didn't wake us.)

This hotel was excellent for our family of 5. We enjoyed being able to walk to the main town of Tamarindo and the beach (approximately 20 minute walk). The town and beach are somewhat busy which made us appreciate even more the quiet location of the hotel. The property is small but well maintained and clean. We enjoyed our breakfasts at the hotel as well as lounging around the pool. Also while not necessary in this area we rented a car and were able to park outside the hotel without difficulty.

I have no complaints. We liked the location as it was quiet and peaceful. However it wouldn’t be the best choice for someone who is adverse to either walking 15- 20 minutes in hilly terrain or taking a taxi to the town or beach.

Host was knowledgeable of the area, and very personable. The room was private, and so big. Plunge pool was perfect. The jets felt great. The surrounding plants were beautiful. The hammocks and day bed an unexpected, and amazing perk. The open air shower more relaxing than I could've imagined. The kitchen had everything I needed to make dinner from the nearby market. The main strip, night market, food trucks and beach were all a short walk away. Felt very safe. Also, the pool was beautiful, and the breakfast delicious. The small gathering spots that popped out of lush, green corners were so inviting. Can't wait to stay here again!

Breakfast was great! Casado with eggs made to order, fresh fruit, juice and coffee. Pool was great and under utilized. Breakfast was right on the patio, honor bar with lots of beverage selections. Room was huge (was a last minute booking) with a huge lovely bathroom and kitchenette. It had more more beds than we had people, lol,—would have been great for a family! Location was on a private road, felt safe and away from the hustle and bustle of Tamarindo but very walkable and easily accessible to everything. Staff was very friendly and available. Felt safe and would come back again!

Wish we could have stayed longer!

The property has a bit of personality that other properties lack. My daughter loved the bunk bed and our bed was comfy. Loved the design of the bathroom and shower. Breakfast was good. Enjoyed talking with the family who owned the property.

The location was a bit farther away from everything than we expected which resulted in walking down muddy streets. The construction next door had people living onsite and banging began everyday at 6am with constant burning of trash that always smelled up our bathroom. Pool had a layer of oil/soap on the surface and probably needed some treatment to clean it up.

We loved that it was located in a lush environment where we could hear plenty of birds and occasionally, the howler monkeys!

There were many levels of steps that we had to climb to get to our sweet bungalow. Also, to walk to town, we had to climb up and down a couple of steep streets.
