Location, location, location!! The hotel is directly in the wall of the vestibule of the palace. Our rooms #1 and #4 had windows that looked directly into the vestibule. It was magical to hear the singers and the classical guitarist at night playing there. Touring the basement of the palace, (that was featured in Game of Thrones as the space the dragons were held) our private guide showed us an area that was directly under the hotel! Staff was fantastic and so was the complementary breakfast. We are dairy and gluten free and they did a very nice job accommodating us. Highly recommended!

In this world, there are few chances to stay in a hotel located directly inside a building with such ancient and important history attached to it as Diocletian's Palace. That fact was lost on me before I stayed here (because I, like most Americans, had no clue as to who Diocletian was nor his import in early AD-history) - and now is indelibly etched into my world view. Beyond that, this boutique hotel offers just what's needed: top-notch rooms, an excellent breakfast, a location supremely central to all that Split's old town has to offer, and a staff focused on making the customer experience perfect, starting from the mini-guided-tour of the Palace as they walk you from the car park, through the lower portion of the Palace, and up into the hotel.

The location, the design, the aesthetic and thoughtful, responsive staff were all exceptionally high caliber, especially Tonci who is a great compliment to any occasion. The breakfast is good and we loved our room #7 at the very top. The fridge with water is essential. The heated towel rack is terrific. The bed is very comfortable.

The stairs are fine, but having a small dumb waiter for bags would be a great addition. Staff help enormously but one must be hyper mobile to traverse the steps multiple times daily. A small coffee maker in the room would be nice. The bathroom door does drift open. And we did not like the bedside table lamps as the base is too large for the table.

Outstanding service and the staff were very helpful - not only coming to find us when we arrived in Split from the airport but also helping us when our luggage did not arrive on our flight The singing from the vestibule, a grand domed room, open to the sky was enchanting and fabulous Mia was so helpful and went above and beyond - very much appreciated We would most definitely stay here if we retuned to Split

Absolutely lovely hotel in fascinating, historic location, and very central. The staff, especially Mia, was terrific. They could not do enough for you. Bed was very comfortable, and breakfast on the patio was lovely. There is a group of singers singing beautiful, traditional Croatian songs at breakfast time.

Nothing comes to mind. It’s a little bit complicated to get there because the hotel is in a pedestrian zone, so no cars. But that is no fault of the hotel because it applies to the entire area. The hotel did everything they could to make it accessible.

Lovely hotel with amazing history. The staff were amazing, could not do enough to help and so friendly too. The breakfast was also really nice. It's inside the palace walls so a bit tricky to find but they helped us with our suitcases and to find a taxi when we checked out which we were really grateful for.

Nothing, apart from I wish I'd taken them up on their offer of meeting us outside the palace walls as finding the hotel with our luggage in the heat was a challenge!

We loved our stay at this hotel! The building itself is beautiful and hidden away within the palace walls. We found the staff very hospitable, in particular the female manager and the two young men who carried up our bags and served us drinks on the terrace. The rooms were just lovely, with comfortable beds and modern decor that blended in beautifully with the architectural design showcasing the walls. Enjoyed the Molton Brown bath products too. Above all, the location for this hotel was just out of this world - a one-off experience that we won't forget. Thank you!

Very minor. 1. The old fashioned hairdryer in the bathroom, which seemed out of keeping with the rest of the room. 2. The fridge in the room wasn't cold enough. But these were minor observations that certainly didn't detract from our visit.

Location, location, location. A short walk to everything and we were woken up by singing in the Vestibule from the Dalmatian Klapa Singers. That is how close we were to the centre of the palace. As the hotel is small, the staff have the time to really look after all its customers. Their customer service was exceptional. Having the wonderful breakfast outside in the courtyard was a fantastic start to every day (we also had regular visits from the local cats who were very friendly but did not speak English :-)

The hotel could have confirmed directions. This would have been helpful as it is a bit complicated when arriving for the first time.

The hotel is in a splendid location, literally built in to the Roman palace in the historic city center. Our room looked right into the Vestibule, where we could enjoy the occasional a cappella singing concerts. Yet with the window closed, the room was quiet. Furnishings were all very high quality. Breakfast buffet was very good, and they provided gluten-free bread for my celiac husband. The service was outstanding. Parking is always tricky when staying inside car-free historic cores, but they directed us to a spot nearby where they came out to meet us, took care of parking the car for us, and carried our heavy bags all the way to our room (which was no small journey from where we had to leave the car!). All of the staff were very friendly, attentive, and helpful.

It’s central location right in Diocletian’s Palace was great. Although the rooms were not large, they were comfortable. Staff were charming, friendly and couldn’t do enough to help, from changing our rooms after advice from our driver that some of our party may have trouble with steps, to offering cool drinks when we returned from walking around, to advising what to see and where to go. Absolutely outstanding and well deserving the title of “best small luxury hotel”. Thank you to all staff.

Too many steps for our older partners, and no electric jug in the room (probably not necessary because refreshing cool drinks and coffees were always available.
