This is a beautiful boutique hotel. It has been decorated and maintained with love and care. Andreas, the owner, is a warm, welcoming host as are all of the members of his staff. I was working remotely during my week stay and I had zero issues with the wifi, it was exceptional. There are plenty of restaurants nearby, a small mercado just up the hill (literally around the corner), a laundry across the street and all of the neighbors are friendly - greeting you with a smile! Make sure you check out the coffee shop also just up the hill! I used the hotel to arrange a taxi from the airport, and Freddy was wonderful. I hired him several times on my trip to take me places. I could not have felt more cared for on my solo trip to Quito. Notes: if you are sensitive to noise, book the top floor rooms (there are two). I always travel with a fan and ear plugs. Street noise was minimal as the windows are very noise dampening.

Nothing, I loved my stay

The hotel is located in Centro de Historico, and within walking distance of most tourist attractions in the area. It was recommended to me by my tour guide, and it did not disappoint! The owner and staff here are so friendly and helpful! We had arrived just a little after 5pm on a Saturday, and it was right after the power was cut off (country wide daily scheduled power outage). The battery on our phones were running low after after flight, and friends that we met in Galapagos the week prior was staying in another area where there was electricity. We were nervous to walk down to the square to meet them, as it was starting to get dark (and there were no street lights due to the power outage), don't speak Spanish, and generally not oriented with the area. Enrique offered to walk down to the square with us, and made sure we were ok before leaving. The next morning, we were feeling affects of the altitude, and he got us coca tea, and advice on what to do to help us acclimatize. Andre was friendly, offered us water before us heading out. Made sure we got something to eat every morning. There was always fruit, bread, and cook to order eggs and ham! He was extremely apologetic for the power outage, but it was to no fault of the hotel! He provided a portable lamp so that we would have a source of light at night. Cynthia was also very friendly and helpful, and helped us arrange airport transfer at the end of our trip, and even got the driver to come earlier when we were ready to go. Overall, we were very happy with our stay at Hotel Casa Gardenia! Everything was clean and tidy. Service was amazing. The hotel has floor to ceiling windows that overlook Quito, and it's an amazing view! Wifi was fast (when the power was on. Would definitely recommend!

This is a boutique property with only nine rooms so it feels very intimate with two, or three if you include the breakfast area, common areas where travelers share tips etc. The staff are beyond excellent, with advice on tours restaurants etc. A great breakfast is served every morning and if your tour is leaving early they’ll pack one for you to take. It’s in a great location in the old town. We stayed for six nights with a room upgrade. If you’re going to Quito you must stay here.

Nothing it was all good.

The team running Casa Gardenia were some of the most helpful and friendly people I have ever met in many years of travelling for business and pleasure. They were exceptional, and visiting a new city always makes a big difference. They even went out an d bought us some coca leaf tea to help us with altidtude sickness/ This is one of the few places to stay in the historic town and makes a great base if your desire is to stay in the UNESCO portion of Quito rather than the more modern touristy 'Gringotown'. Be warned that the streets are steep, cobbled and not ideal for accessibility (I am blind). taxis are cheap and plentiful if walking is difficult. Situated close to the city's historic heart, this architecturally interesting building has its own details of design and interest. Simple good facilities, great views and a good breakfast available.

I liked everything about the Casa Gardenia. It is well located in the Old Town on a safe street within walking distance to the key sights in the Old Town. I was warmly welcomed when I checked in and throughout my stay. They offered a wonderful breakfast with fresh fruit and juice and made to order eggs. Found the room to be a good size with comfortable twin beds and shower with good water pressure. Nice common areas. I appreciated the map of the area given to me at check in to highlight which streets were considered safer than others.

There was nothing I didn’t like.

We had a lovely stay at Casa Gardenia. The place is gorgeous and well decorated, with a beautiful internal garden.The room was spacious, comfortable and very clean. There are only nine rooms in total. We were the only ones on the 3rd floor where there's the nicest common area with an incredible view of the city. Best wifi we had in Ecuador, great shower and delicious breakfast. Staff is super attentive. Location is perfect, a short walk from the main sites at the Old Town. If I come back to Quito, I will stay here again.

Considering our needs, there was nothing we didn't like, but here are some things other travelers might consider. Just like most places in Quito, there's no soundproofing. However, the place was very quiet and even the street noise was minimum between 10 pm and 6 am. There's no AC but the temperature was great. I imaging it could be an issue in warm nights. Lastly, there's no elevator and it's not wheel chair accessible (like Quito as a whole). They will assist you with your bags if needed, but if you have mobility issues or extremely heavy bags, ask for the rooms on the 1st floor (i believe they are rooms 1-3).

The owners and staff were phenomenal; caring, friendly, helpful, and thoughtful. The building was gorgeous, location perfect, and had everything we needed. Rooms are very comfortable

The only downside is unfixable: the older wooden floors are creaky & noisy, and walls are thin. There's no air conditioning & the cobblestone roads outside are noisy. Light sleepers will find this difficult. We'd still stay there again, though.

This bed and breakfast is located in the historic old town of Quito, 5 minutes walk to the Grand Plaza, the Presidential Palace, etc. The room we had was on the top floor; it was spacious and private. There are two sitting areas with gorgeous views of the city. Breakfast includes eggs as well as fresh fruit, cheese, and a selection of cereals and yogurt. The staff was exceptional, especially Enrique. They helped us with getting taxis, directing us to sights and restaurants and were just all-around helpful and friendly.

We had an excellent stay. The decor of the hotel beautifully balances the traditional architecture with model finishings and our room was very comfortable. The location is very well placed in the old city, just a few minutes walk from the main square. Breakfast was delicious and the view over the old city is incredible. The hotel staff and manager were really friendly and acommodating, including arranging a transfer to the airport for us. Overall would highly recommend staying at Casa Gardenia!

excellent location in old town. we loved the modern decor and wide windows in common areas overlooking the town. hotel provided sack breakfast one morning when we had early tour. breakfast is generous, fruit, rolls, berry smoothie, meats and cheese, eggs. stayed in room 9, top floor, big window, street side of building we tried a few local restaurants, our favourite was the hotel recommendation vegetarian Italian place.

it did not bother us but some may like to know there is no lift some noise from street, not all night, but rubbish trucks were quite noisy. in saying that, streets are exceptionally clean which makes sense.
