My wife and I live in Quito and we both love the historic center of the city and we visit regularly, even though we live just a few miles away. The hotel is beautiful, inside and out. Everyone who works at the hotel does everything they can to ensure you will have the best stay possible. Miryan is the older Ecuadorian woman who checked us in and also saw us off on the day we left and she also served us breakfast on a couple of mornings. Karla is a young Ecuadorian woman who served us breakfast the other mornings and both of them could not have been nicer and more personable. Our breakfasts were delicious, consisting of freshly cut fruit, eggs, toast, fruit juice and good strong coffee. I especially appreciated there was plentiful hot water for our showers each morning. There was a big bottle of water available to fill up our water bottles each day and the hotel had a nice selection of wine to purchase that my wife and I appreciated because we were celebrating our Anniversary.

I can't think of anything that we didn't like.

The location is unbeatable. We loved the fresh roses in the room.The bedrooms are all different with beautiful murals. The entire hotel is decorated and has lots of plants. We had a warm welcome showing us the property all the way to the roof top offering views on both the Basilica and the Panecillo.The manager Miriam was very attentive to all clients. We had different fresh fruits and fresh smoothies everyday besides eggs to taste and delicious croissant. The hotel can organize all kinds of tours around Quito (Otavalo, Mindo, Mitad del mundo) and has a small boutique with artisanal products and clothing.

The laundry policy is not practical. They don't want people to do their own but will take laundry only above 10-15 pieces, which is impossible for a short stay.

The host was incredible!! Very responsive and truly care about her guests. We had a personal tour of the property with suggestions on where to eat and what to visit. She also provided us with a map of the surroundings with her notes which was very helpful. Although nobody speaks English (only Spanish), the communication was still perfect as they use Google translate all the time. So even though there was a language barrier, this has not affected our stay at all!! The room was so beautiful and clean and the breakfast was perfect. We felt very safe in this hotel since the doors are always locked so not anyone can just walk in. I definitely recommend this place 100%.

This was our second stay at the hotel, La Basílica. The hotel is very centrally, located in the old town of Quito and a very good point to explore from on foot. The staff and the owners are extremely accommodating and very sweet and go out of their way to help you with any possible need. On our trip trips in and out they set up transportation for us with wonderful drivers and very nice vehicles And I would highly suggest you use them for any transportation needs well in Quito. We got wonderful recommendations for meals and some places to visit around the hotel and I can’t recommend staying there enough

The only thing we really have to say negative about the hotel is that the beds are very hard. We found this the case in a lot of places, so it may be more of a preference, but if you were looking for a softer bed, out of the three rooms we stayed in, all of the beds were very hard.

The property has a great location in the old town portion of Quito. It is extremely clean and everyone there was more than friendly. You enter through a lock door that must be open to let you in via video cameras and the interior is very safe. We loved the morning breakfast and the hotel staff/owners were incredibly kind. They also set up transportation to and from anywhere we wanted to go And made our stay extremely enjoyable. The hotel is also very centrally located in the old part of Quito, which made getting around walking very easy. You are only five or six blocks from the main basilica. There are several good restaurants in the area and a number of them down towards the main plaza past the government buildings which are about five or six blocks south. Overall, it’s an easy place to walk. We just had several warnings from a number of places do not walk after dark.

The one thing that would’ve been nice, is to have a view from the hotel or some of the hotel. Basically, you are inside with no windows to the outside world in any part of the hotel as far as we could tell. The roof is a giant skylight which makes natural light come in, but there are no Windows to the outside world.

This hotel is a 250 year old heritage house. It once belonged to one of the heroes of the revolution. The thorough renovation preserved the history while adding modern conveniences like enough outlets to charge the electronics. The rooms are absolutely beautiful. The old style furniture is lovely. There are nice plants everywhere. The location could not be better, just a 2 or 3 blocks away from Plaza Grande. The breakfast is exceptional. It includes a good-sized dish of fresh fruit. The owners are very helpful, calling taxis and giving advice.

“We are not our guest or customer but part of the family” - this is how we were treated in the late evening upon arriving at the hotel. While this is something you may hear often in family owned hotels, we really felt like it. The communication with us, the hospitality, the presentation of the breakfast and the openness have surprised us and made us feel very comfortable.

If you don’t need a pool and gym, this place is perfect for you.

We had a wonderful three-night stay at Hotel La Basilica. Everything was perfect from the moment we booked until we checked out. Communication was fast and easy. We used their transportation from the airport and despite that our flight was delayed they were waiting with a smile and bottled water. The rooms were clean and the hotel is lovely. There is a beautiful rooftop terrace with great views of the city. Breakfast with fruits, breads, fresh juices, eggs and coffee was included every morning. They also have a small store with authentic goods and handicrafts. The location was very central and close to many places in Old Town. Every member of the staff was attentive, kind and helpful. We felt very welcome and were treated like family while we were there. Amazing hotel and I would highly recommend!!

I cannot say enough good things about this hotel. It is a former colonial home with large, beautiful rooms, a bright breakfast area with lots of beautiful plants, and the nicest and most helpful staff we’ve ever encountered. Karla was especially wonderful, explaining the history of the hotel and telling us about Ecuadorian history. She also explained the traditional breakfast items to us, which was very interesting. Byron answered all of my emails promptly and Juan stayed up late to welcome us after our middle of the night arrival. The shower was strong and the hot water was plentiful, the hotel and the rooms were immaculate. All of the staff we met were very kind and friendly. If you travel to Quito, stay here — you will be happy you did! We loved everything!

We stayed at Hotel La Basilica for 4 nights in October 2023. Hotel La Basilica is a charming boutique hotel in Quito. It is a beautifully decorated colonial stye building with covered interior courtyards. We found the staff helpful and the included breakfast excellent. To be noted, is the fact that only a couple of the rooms have outside windows. Most rooms have windows opening onto the courtyard walkways. Our room did not have a bathroom fan and for ventilation, we usually left our room door open which was not a problem as there wasn’t much traffic in the outside walkway. There was a provided fan for room air circulation. We were relocated after check-in because our initial room had an unpleasant sewer smell. We were reassured that that wasn’t a usual occurrence and in the reassigned room there was no unpleasant odor. Of note is that the hotel has a great location in the old historic district and easy walking to shops, restaurants, and sightseeing.
