Beautiful hotel in a fantastic location, easy walking to numerous restaurants/churches. Family of 4 rooms were perfect for us, queen bed on main level with 2 singles in a loft. Family rooms are quite large with beautiful wall paintings and furnishings. Breakfast starts at 7:00 AM but my family was always gone on tours before 7:00 so we never had breakfast. Hotel will provide a to go breakfast of fruit, yogurt and crackers if needed. My sister, not doing tours with us, said the breakfast was great. Very attentive staff, excellent communication, great at arranging transportation/tours and recommending restaurants.

Decor is very fun and unique! The rooms were very clean and all the staff were friendly and helpful. Miriam welcomed us and gave us lots of information about the history of the property and a map and walking tour advice for the old town. Breakfast was lovely!

The only downsides are that it’s dangerous to walk around nearby at night, but the property itself is very secure. The safety box is a bit fiddly but we did get it working - the manager has access to a key which opens it if there is a problem.

The hotel is a marvellous historical home that has been converted to a guest house. The owners have gone out of their way to maintain the original character and charm of this beautiful property. The location is central to all of the historical sites of Quito and surrounded by many excellent restaurants. The staff and owners were wonderful and very accommodating. The breakfast was the best we had in all of Ecuador. We had a 0230 departure time, and the owner got up to let us out and prepared a boxed breakfast for us to take with us. We would definitely stay here again should we return to Quito.

Nothing - it was fantastic!

It is based in a traditional Spanish-colonial architecture house, with rooms around a courtyard. Beautifully set up rooms. Very well located in the historic centre of Quito area. The staff could not be more helpful, organising an early taxi to the airport when needed.

All fine - but make sure it is what you want. If you are after a sterile, modern, purpose built hotel, with soundproofed rooms and facilities, then not for you.

Hotel basilica It is an amazing experience to stay there. It is a family run historic hotel with 13 rooms, a few blocks from the Basilica. The staff are incredibly helpful and you will see the attention they pay to cleaning the hotel. Every morning a wonderful breakfast is prepared with warm croissants, fresh fruit juice, coffee and eggs cooked to order. They can arrange private tours in comfortable cars. You can’t go wrong staying here.

We were greeted very warmly by the family who operates the hotel. They have put a lot of effort into the plants, decorations and facilities. Clearly they take a lot of pride in their work. The room was clean and the breakfast was delicious. Location was an easy walk to historic landmarks. Would defintely stay again. Some staff speak English and those who don't were very patient communicating with us.

We would have preferred a more comfortable bed. Also, we could hear some noise from the room when other people were moving around.

The owners and the staff were some of the nicest people we had met during travel, and genuinely seemed to care about our experience. The breakfast that we had was fantastic, and the rooms and beds were comfortable, and they helped us to organise some local excursions. Wifi was very fast as well, the fastest we had in Ecuador. Jimmy who did the airport pickup and dropoff was also great.

it is a very charming traditional Andalusian style house, beautifully designed and arranged, the rooms are beautiful and the decor traditionally artistic, spacious, modern bathroom. the house has pretty inside courtyard and rooftop terrace with great views of the old town, very romantic. It is located in old town, brief walking distance between points of interest, such as the cathedral and the basilica. The staff was amazingly helpful, they run it in a family style; the man even walked with us to take us to the restaurant 5-10 min away, in which we had wanted to have dinner. we had to leave early in the morning and they were ready with breakfast even before 7 am for us. they arranged airport transport that was safe and comfortable.

The hotel doesn’t look special outside but inside it was a treasure. Wonderful rooms all with special paintings. Room was clean and bed was very comfortable. Great breakfast. The location is excellent, located in the old town. Inexpensive parking was located right around the corner. The staff was excellent, especially Mariam and her son Juan.

watch out coming to hotel….pick pockets (see photo). The put mud on my shirt, said it was a bird and wanted to “help me clean it off”

Byron was helpful by email and we were met at the airport as planned. The hotel has a lovely enclosed courtyard and gardens. Each room is decorated with beautifully painted churches of Quito, comfortable bed & modern bathroom. The building is old, with squeaky floors, but very clean and deluxe. The owners, Miryan and Oswaldo, are kind & helpful too. They offer coffee & breakfast in the courtyard area. Beautiful views of the historical city from the small rooftop terrance that’s worth the climb up the spiral staircase! Josue was happy to show us around and answer any questions. Hotel La Basilica is a safe, unique place to stay in the heart of Quito where you can walk to most sights and day tours can easily be arranged.
