Room just like the photos. Very tidy, well heated and hot water available 24/7 without an issue. I note a previous review complaining about an egg/sulphur like smell to the hot water. This is indeed there but a very quick google shows this is common across Iceland, especially in Reykjavik. The location is superb with you being a 10 minute walk at maximum from all the central locations and a 1 minute walk from a popular bus stop for tours and airport shuttles. Excellent wifi. Great daily breakfast (cold) with lots of options. Very helpful reception staff. Very short walk to local swimming pool which is excellent to attend in the early morning!

Nothing of note

So close to Bus Stop No. 8, made it so easy for any of the excursions and Flybus return to the airport. Also central to the main centre around Hallgrimskirke. I did not have the breakfast because I normally eat late morning, so I ate out early lunchtime. The room was warm and the radiator adjustable. The shared bathroom facilities was acceptable as it was a closed arrangement of three bedrooms, plus a well equipped kitchenette, maximum 5 people using the area.

On one particular day, the room immediately above, had occupants who repeatedly scraped several chairs over the floor instead of lifting and moving the chairs on the wooden flooring, presumably as they sat at a table to eat and then get up during the meal and again afterwards. This occurred late in the evening as I was trying to get some sleep prior to departing early the next morning for the airport.

This place was amazingly clean! The room was basic but had everything you needed and it was great to have a small sink in the room to brush teeth and wash your face without having to go to the bathrooms. The place was relatively quiet during the evenings and mornings which was lovely. The shared areas (toilets, showers and kitchen) were all really clean and tidy and I never found it difficult to get access to them. The reception staff were also really welcoming and friendly.

Two minor complaints: 1. room doors don't automatically lock when you leave so unless you check you could easily leave your room unlocked for the day. 2. the hot water smells like sulphur... think this has something to do with Iceland using geothermal heat to heat their water. Although perfectly clean, it was rather off putting when having a shower. I had read another review along similar lines before i stayed so wasn't massively surprised by this.

Location was perfect for everything, just short walk to the BSI bus terminal also so don't pay extra for hotel transfers. Room was clean with little sink and mirror and face cloths. Chair in the room and bed was good.

Shared kitchen was all transparent glass opposite rooms, I didn't have a shower in my room and when I left my room was right in front of guests making breakfast, tad embarrassing. Frosted glass would have made it more private. Also, a little bit of road noise was heard.

Is in a very good location for shopping eating and supermarket also close to BSI bus station and just across the road from bus stop 8 that many tour buses collect from. The set up is pretty good with a few rooms sharing 1 bathroom/toilet unfortunately the toilet is in the the shower room, there is also a kitchen area in each area with dining table and chairs and a tv. Most of the time it was quiet and other people were respectful and quiet except for a mass influx of noisy Americans who took over like it was home. My room was a single and although small it was perfect for me as I was only there to sleep and relax before bed there is a comfortable chair, single bed , wash basin and rack for your suitcase and clothes. Staff were lovely, you can wash clothes if you want to not cheap though.

My only complaint is you must carry your luggage up stairs in my case 4 flights not easy at my age, or at 4am. and I found the room very warm at night , like too warm.

The staff at Sunna are amazing. We arrived from an overnight flight at 7:30am and they moved us into a different, but similar room so we could be checked in right away. One day we had trouble with a bus that was supposed to pick us up and never showed and they let us use their phone three different times until we got things sorted. We were so appreciative of the way they looked after their guests. The location is great, right by the big church and bus stop #8 and within walking distance of all other major attractions downtown. It was very clean, the beds were very comfortable and it was great having access to a communal kitchen which helped keep some of the cost down since Iceland is an expensive place to visit. Having breakfast at the hotel was also very convenient and while the options were limited, there was always more than enough to fill you up for the day of trekking ahead.

Location is great, we could see the Hallgrímskirkja church from the window & it was within 5min walking distance. Very easy to reach the city centre. Room was spacious enough, clean and quiet.

Parking is pretty small, might be tricky to get the place. Parking on the street is possible, but I guess it can be tricky in high season. There is no elevator (as far as I know), so get ready to carry your suitcases up to your room (which might be quite some distance from the main entrance).

This guesthouse was amazing. The biggest plus is the staff. They were very welcoming, friendly and always ready to help out. For instance, my flight was cancelled and they help me out as much as possible. They even let me store my luggage while waiting for my check-in so that I could join a tour in the meantime. About the room: it was nice, comfy and most importantly clean. Yes, bathrooms/toilets are shared between all guests, but they are also very clean and I saw them being cleaned every day. You can use the common area like the kitchen to cook or keep some of your food in the fridge (properly labeled of course). Don’t waste your money in bottles of water, tap water in Iceland is safe to drink and quite refreshing. Let us talk about the location: the guesthouse is situated in the city center in front of the famous Hallgrímskirkja church (from my room I was able to see the church). It is near Bus stop 8, but for all those who are interested in booking some tours I do recommend to go directly to BSI Central instead. It is just a 3-min walk from the guesthouse and you get the advantage of waiting inside (instead of outside under the rain/snow in case of bus stop 8) and you pay sometimes a bit less on transportation too. All in all, I highly recommend this guesthouse to everyone visiting Iceland.

Nothing to report.

We absolutely loved our stay at Guesthouse Sunna- it was in the most perfect location and we were very lucky to have a room with a view of the Hallsgrim's church and Einar Johnsson museum and a balcony. The room was super cosy and comfy and level of cleanliness was exceptional + staff were very diligent in housekeeping everyday. Bonus to have the kitchen facilities and places to sit and eat and cook, make tea etc. We will definitely recommend and hope to come back again.

all was great :)

The location is perfect! My friend and I actually stayed at this guest house for total of 4 nights: 2 nights in the room with a private bathroom at the beginning of the trip and 2 nights at the end of the trip in the room with a shared bathroom. Both were quite good: they were clean and things as expected. But I say the room with a private bathroom on the 3rd floor was a better option since I heard some noise from upstairs when I stayed in the room with a shared bathroom on the 1st floor. In addition, the bathroom is shared by 5 rooms so during the night, I heard many door noises when people used the bathroom. But it wasn't a deal breaker. The convenient location and the clean, reasonably priced (Iceland standard) room compensate some minor noise problem. I'm willing to stay here again when I visit Iceland in the future.

Some noise from upstairs and door noises during the night when people used the shared bathroom.
