Location was very good, central to dining shopping, landmarks. Room was basic but clean. We walked to our dinners and took a walk to the harbor too. Breakfast was not complimentary but I felt it was worth money paid. Lots of variety, fresh and the 2 ladies working the breakfast room were so welcoming and hospitable.

I interacted with 4 different front desk staff and all were uniformly had lukewarm attitude. A friendly welcome and willingness to provide information about the hotel and the area is not too much to expect? Alda is rated as a 4 star hotel but staff is not up to par. Room could use bit more lighting. At night it was dim even with all lights on.

The setting of the hotel is gorgeous and the rooms, albeit small, are practical and homely. They can get really warm so all good when coming in from the cold! There's free Icelandic water to fill bottles up with too which was a nice touch; and they also give you a complimentary mobile phone to use during your stay. The reception staff were super helpful and the gym and hot tub is a nice perk - though the hot tub area definitely needs some more lighting! The hotel and rooms are super clean and stocked with nice toiletries so you don't have to bring any if you're travelling light. Also p.s. Apple Maps took us off on a side street but this is on the main street in Reykjavik so just keep walking up and it's to the right :) you can't miss it! It's super close to bus stop #9 for any excursions. It's within good walking distance to a lot of things too.

I wouldn't recommend breakfast, it was about £23 for a basic buffet. Not very good value for money! You're better off grabbing coffee in your room, there's a Nespresso type machine in there.

Great location, near bus stop for all tours/airport bus and close walk to town. Lots of cafes/restaurants/gift stores nearby. Being able to check in a bit early after a long journey was a massive plus. Room was a good size and had everything we needed, hairdryer, coffee machine, toiletries etc. Staff always available/visible if need any help.

Room was a bit dark, could do with more/stronger lighting. Especially as we went in winter with limited hours of daylight. Bed wasn't that comfy, was quite bouncy and could feel some springs. Could be more options at breakfast, especially hot options.

Perfect location, it's in the center of Reykjavik, close to the bus stop where you can get picked up for trips but the main bus station is in the walking distance. Our room and bathroom were on a smaller side but were clean, warm and the bed was very comfortable. The main area of the hotel is very pleasant. The stuff was very kind always happy to help and answer our questions. The restaurant at the hotel is very good.

Breakfast was poor and overpriced. After 3 days we discovered that there are a lot of coffee shops and bakeries very close to the hotel where you can have cheaper and much better breakfast.

The location was brilliant, the hotel is right in the heart of the city. There was a great restaurant/bar within the hotel which served great food. It was perfect if coming back late from an excursion as it's open till 10pm. Rooms were a decent size, bit small however we were always expecting this from other hotel reviews. Rooms were clean, well maintained and hotel staff came around every day to top up coffee or fresh towels. The hotel staff were really friendly and helpful. My parents room flooded on the first night due to the shower being blocked, when I went to reception they sent a cleaner immediately and also changed their room and provided them with an upgrade. They also sorted a taxi to go back to the airport for a family of 6.

Honestly there was not much not to like. Hotel is expensive but so is Iceland.

Alda Hotel Reykjavík’s prime location on Laugavegur, Reykjavík’s main shopping street, provided easy access to numerous restaurants, shops, and attractions. The modern Scandinavian design of the hotel created a welcoming atmosphere. We were pleasantly surprised with a complimentary room upgrade, enhancing our experience. Our spacious room, facing the street, was remarkably quiet, allowing for a restful night’s sleep. The bathroom featured heated floors and a luxurious shower, adding to our comfort. The on-site restaurant offered a delightful dining experience. After dinner, we enjoyed a leisurely walk along Laugavegur, engaging in window shopping and immersing ourselves in the lively atmosphere of the area. A unique feature of the hotel is its in-house barber shop, located in the lobby. This addition provides guests with the convenience of grooming services without leaving the premises.

While Alda Hotel Reykjavík offers a fitness center, I found it to be relatively small. At the time of our visit, it wasn’t busy, so it was adequate, but I could see it being difficult to navigate if there were more guests using it. Accessing the sauna required walking through various public areas in a robe, which felt a bit uncomfortable for us as Canadians, as we are not accustomed to that level of exposure; locals may find this more acceptable. While there were shower stalls available for changing, I would have preferred a more private space. Additionally, parking was limited; we were fortunate to secure a spot directly in front of the hotel on the street, but this may not always be available, potentially causing inconvenience for guests traveling by car.

Excellent location for walking to the sights. Sleeping and bath rooms were very clean and tidy. The bed and bedding was very comfortable. We stayed on the fourth floor and had access to the walk around balcony offering a good view of the city. The exercise room offers a treadmill, elliptical and exercise cycle. They also have free weights. There is a sauna inside which my sons enjoyed and hot tub is outside. Hotel offers a water filling station by the elevators with room temp still, chilled still and carbonated water. We used it every day to fill our water bottles.

Breakfast is not included in the room price and what is offered at the restaurant downstairs seems expensive for the items they are serving.

The property was great! Nothing bad to say about it at all. But at the beginning they did say our rooms were overbooked but it turned out to be a different group not us.

The fact that our room was not ready when we showed up at 6pm. We also asked them to book a taxi for us on the departure day for 3 am as our flight was 6am. I asked for confirmation many times to make sure the time and date was correct. Luckily on the last night I asked another lady who was at the front desk and she checked and it was booked for 3pm not 3am. We would have missed our flight for the 5 of us completely!

Great location, friendly staff most of the time Able to leave our luggage until we returned from a week away

Upon check in, The front desk offered to check if our room was ready and it was at 11am. The room was ready and he asked us if we wanted to pay an extra fee for early check in! If a room is ready and the customer doesn’t request an early check in, and the customers had been there for 3 days already, the hotel should have provided the room early at no extra charge. Bad business practices

We had the king suite for a romantic getaway. We are living in Iceland and wanted to be in the middle of town for celebration of our wedding anniversary and also because there was a culture nigh in Reykjavik. The hotel is located on the main shopping street and easy walk to and from the hotel from parking facilities nearby. The room was quite nice and had a view over the street and we spent some time looking at the pedestrians. The bed was very comfortable and it had huge TV at the bed rest. The bathroom was large with a very big walk in shower which we loved. There was also a tub but we did not use it. It was a coffee machine with selection of pods and teas. The room was clean and the staff we encountered was really nice. All in all, we were quite happy with the hotel. I would defenity stay again on a similar occation.

There was nothing we had problem with regarding the room or the hotel. However, a friendly suggestion to the hotel. In the shower stall, the paint is flaking a bit and for me, that is a little annoying because it is an easy fix really. Now, that said. Everything else was immaculate :)
