Room was really comfortable and well heated for such an old building - bed was huge, bathroom and shower were lush. Coffee and bottles of water plus extra toiletries were replaced every day.
The only annoying thing was not being able to take your key out with you - the keyring was extremely heavy and we were told that the idea was to drop it off/pick it up from reception every time we left or came back. It went smoothly but would of preferred a less heavy key ring so that we could easily come in and out of the venue without having to stop at reception each time. Breakfast was good - my partner had the Irish breakfast which he loved but I was a little disappointed with the pancakes. Overall a lovely stay though and would definitely say it deserves 4 stars!

The employees of the Schoolhouse Hotel were marvelous and lovely to speak with whether for items related to our stay, daytrip suggestions, or just random conversations. The room was spacious and comfortable-perfect for two travelers and honestly more than enough for a small family. Everything in the room was perfectly curated to maximize comfort. A bit away from the hustle and bustle of the major tourist areas, but that allows for a nice stroll back during good weather like we were fortunate to have during our stay. The grounds of the nearby canal are perfect to just relax by and in addition to the lovely gastrobar, there are numerous pubs and restaurants nearby. My partner and I are already planning our next stay!

Breakfast was good, but a little expensive. However the cooked breakfast option was worth the extra. The room was comfortable, perhaps a little shady. The window overlooked the bins which wasn't the best outlook and emptying glass bottles in the morning was a little noisy. The bed was large and comfortable, and the consumables placed in the en-suite were of good quality and topped-up daily. Parking was adequate and felt secure. The nearby canal added to the setting, and the close proximity of the new and growing Docklands area was appreciated.
The outlook, but we agree that is difficult to resolve. A little information in the rooms about the hotel facilities and the area would have been helpful, for guests who didn't have access to the scan codes.

The environment and history. Beautiful building and spaces. Comfortable rooms. Great space to have a drink in the evening or breakfast in the morning.
Although the menu looked good, we found ourselves wanting something more traditional "Irish". That may be a touristy comment, but I suspect that is a large demographic of the hotel's target audience; so, we had drinks and went elsewhere for food. This is not in the heart of Dublin so there was not alot of options in walking distance for food drinks or entertainment if that is what you want.

The building and the interior design are beautiful and very cosy. We had a rental car, so a parking space in a hotel so close to the city Centre was great. We used to live in Rathmines and it felt a bit like home. We took a lovely stroll along the canal and the walk into town and back is perfect. The staff were very friendly
In the restaurant the staff that were training newer, shyer staff were a bit tough on them….in front of guests as well….not necessary, everyone was friendly and helpful and fast….military style admonishments somewhat ruined the cosy experience

The room was a really good size, with a large and comfortable bed. The hotel building is beautiful and has a cosy feel to it. The breakfast was good with continental and hot breakfast options, in a beautiful dining room. The restaurant/pub attached was great - there's a garden (which was perfect with 2 young kids) and the food was good. Staff were amazing in both the hotel and the restaurant. Its a relatively central location whilst being set back enough from the main busy streets to be a peaceful spot.
Shower pressure wasn't great and some healthier options in the restaurant would be nice but very minor things.

We have made a return visit to this property. The quaint atmosphere is perfect for us. The location is just far enough from the Center to be nice and quiet, but close enough that a nice walk or quick hop on the bus has you on Grafton Street in 5 minutes. The hotel has a nice breakfast menu (B&B) and we enjoyed a dinner in the restaurant on the evening we didn’t feel like going out (jet lag). The staff are the best and were very helpful with a couple of queries we had. Our room was a comfortable size with plenty of room to move around.
The weather was quite warm and muggy which left our room a bit of the same. The absence of a fridge made our habit of having some milk and fruit on hand when traveling a bit difficult.

A very homey boutique hotel! The staff were welcoming and helpful. Even though we arrived well before check-in time, the concierge was able to find us a room ready for us to check in and have a little rest after our long flight. The entire property is beautifully clean and maintained with a quirky charm.
The ONLY quibble I have is the lack of towel racks/hooks/rings in the bathroom. There were two hooks behind the door, but hand towels had nowhere to go :(.

My favourite Dublin hotel when travelling for business or on holiday. The historic building is beautifully kept, the staff are all friendly and competent, and the rooms are spacious and comfortable. Although I missed the previous William Morris decor, the renovations are high quality and tasteful, a quieter palette making the rooms serene. Having an a la carte breakfast is a great way to start a busy day and the bar food was perfectly adequate to end it. The hotel's location overlooking the Grand Canal and a short walk from the CBD and the Ballsbridge shops is unbeatable.
There's nothing I don't like about this hotel.

What's not to like about staying in a converted 19th century schoolhouse? The charm was maintained while providing modern conveniences. The location is lovely and quiet and just a short walk to the action and bustle of the city center. The room was cozy, comfortable, and welcoming. The breakfast was generous and tasty and the restaurant had delicious offerings.
The rate seemed a bit high, but Dublin is an expensive city. Overall, it was worth it for the comfort and quiet as we adjusted to a different time zone.
