I cannot rave about Diego and the rest of the team at The Alex enough. From start to finish they were nothing but friendly and welcoming, and went above and beyond to make sure our stay was comfortable, including a personal email and call from Diego when our room was ready to check-in, and courtesy hot drinks from the cafe bar on check out for our morning around Dublin - completely unexpected but such a kind and memorable touch. The hotel is in a great location - close enough to all the action but the hotel itself is relaxed and quiet. The rooms are modern and very comfortable and had all the facilities you could possibly need for a night away. I had stayed at the Alex in February 2023 and had a great experience then (hence the return) but after this second experience, which again was fabulous, I will always look to stay at The Alex when I visit Dublin and will (and have!) recommended the hotel to others. Thank you to the whole team ⭐

The check-in was super simple and after traveling for so long we needed super simple. The staff at the desk were always very friendly and helpful. The beds were absolutely the most comfortable beds (at a hotel) that I've ever slept on.

There were a couple cleanliness opportunities that I came across. When we went to use the water kettle in our room it had pieces of something in it. I tried washing it out, but never felt good enough about using it. The drains in the bathroom seemed to have an odor coming from them. When we used the shower the odor wasn't as bad, but when the shower had not been in use for a while there was definitely an odor that stayed in the bathroom. None of that was obviously a deal breaker for me, but I would say that does need some attention.

I stay in Dublin regularly for work and when possible I stay at the Herbert. The location is very good for the AVIVA and just 5 min drive from St Stephens green. Rooms very comfortable and the staff are very good . The outstanding part here is the Breakfast. First thing in the morning looking out on Herbert Park but more importantly the Breakfast is what you always remember an Irish Breakfast to be...Haffners sausages and all... Too many Hotels closer to town do a semi streaky fatty or over cooked bacon and sausages with Herbs or the consistency of putty ...or mushrooms drowned in black pepper. Keep it up Herbert park.

Very friendly staff who could not have been more helpful. The hotel is in an amazing location and the rooms are gorgeous and spotless. Overall we were incredibly happy with our stay there.

We had rang ahead to see if they could offer gluten free dinner menu items and the staff said that the chef would be able to make us something. Unfortunately when we got there and asked for this the chef said they could not make anything for us which was disappointing but luckily there were many options for eating out in the area. Breakfast was a buffet with gluten free bread available so no issues there. Other than this the hotel can't be faulted and we would stay again despite this but just to be aware if you have such dietary requirements.

This comfortable hotel is conveniently located, away from the traffic, but still within easy walking distance to the very heart of Dublin. As long as one is in the mood for a full Irish/English breakfast, the offer is just fine. When, after three consecutive mornings of that heavy fare I felt like something different for my last breakfast, it became quite apparent that there is not much else to feed on. Some honey comb but no real honey, a limited bread selection, no waffles, no (edible) cakes, nothing made-to-order at all, and only a very small fruit selection (with some good Irish yogurt, though). And there is no `special,' ... instead, everything repeats in something of a groundhog-day experience. Apart from that noticeable breakfast monotonicity no complaints at all.

A luggage rack in the room would have been practical, as well as a real night table to place some things within easier reach than on the ledge at the top of the bed.

Hotels design was super pretty, hallways, lifts etc. The ladies at reception were so welcoming and lovely. The shower and bathroom were super clean. The room was very spacious and well designed. The fridge and all coffee treats available were a huge plus!

The bed and pillows was very uncomfortable, the room was a little dusty around the bed area. The window opened into a ducting unit which smelled when on. Parking was not at the property and cost an extra €40. Bar waiting staff was quite rude.

The hotel is very central for walking around dublin The breakfast was expensive but very good apart from Service was slow and they forgot to bring items we ordered

The walls between rooms are thin so you hear everything . I had a couple at 11.30 having a conference call with usa the hotel didn't deal with it Correctly and the manager offered me Water as compensation also charged me for my friends breakfast even when the reception staff told me they would compensate for the noise as we Paid over 220 per night without breakfast. We are blonde but found hair near shower also If the manager had offered to refund the last night I may dispute with my credit card

The location was right on the outskirts of Dublin. It was great! We did not dine in the restaurant but ordered room service. The food and the service was exceptional. Rooms were comfortable and the bathroom was beautiful. Wi-Fi was great without interruptions. We will return and we recommend!

The instructions for the parking garage/car park can be clearer. The parking garage /car park is shared by 3 hotels, and it is a short walk from the hotel. The room was a bit warm and we turned down the Air Conditioning, but we opted into opening a window. There is a bar on the corner from the hotel, so it may be a bit noisy throughout the evening (we did not mind this part though).

We really enjoyed our stay, the hotel is beautifully done the small details are luxurious, and we liked the art too. the staff were very welcoming and friendly, stored our luggage for us when we needed it and left a nice tray of treats in our room for my husband’s birthday which was a lovely touch.

We thought the complimentary toiletries were a little stingy, not enough shower gel in the sachet for 2 people for 2 nights and it didn’t get topped up during turndown - and there was no toothpaste. Just could be better considering the quality of the rest of the hotel. The toiletries that were provided were decent though, Paul Costello branded. I also really liked the lighting in the whole hotel, no harsh spotlights but good quality mood lighting. An exception to this would be good for a cosmetic light / mirror light in the bathroom or at the desk, to give guests the option of good lighting for doing make-up etc.

We absolutely loved the interior design in the hotel, the beds were probably the best we have ever slept in (and we go to hotels a lot), the location was great to move around the city whether walking or by taxi. Loved that the Pearce train station was right behind hotel for visiting the town of Howth. Staff were always super friendly and helpful.

The only things that could be reviewed by hotel are the blow dryer, hooks, tea offerings and size of coffee maker. My blow dryer blew out / broke mid use and it scared the daylight out of me. There were zero hooks in the room so we couldnt hang out towels anywhere. I think the hook on back of door broke. I love a nighttime tea and there was only Black tea (caffeine) offerings, so on the second night I asked bar staff for some herbal teas which they kindly gave at no charge. The coffee maker was quite handsome but very big and we would have to add a lot of water to get it to work, and we don't use tap water so we were using up the provided water.
