Fantastic villa for the most beautiful, authentic Tuscany experience. Every single corner of the property looked like a postcard :) The hosts were incredibly helpful when we got a little bit lost on our way there, and gave the best recommendations for things to do in the city. Overall one of the best places I’ve ever stayed at!

Everything was perfect, I wish we had stayed longer.

Amazing palazzo, very old and very authentic making you dream of old times. Quite worn out but in the right Italian way! Familyrun and everybody was kind and super serviceminded. We enjoyed SO much the dinner in the Home restaurant, having dinner outside under the tree tops with lighting. On our evening there, the 4 course dinner was vegetarian and very very nice and fresh with all local ingredients and own wine. Next morning the breakfast was served with great coffee and everything else just nice.

Wifi was not good but looking at the location and the thick walls of the palazzo, it was to be expected.

A heavenly villa in the hills above Prato. Beautiful historic building but with all the amenities you want - fabulous gardens and terraces, a pool and wifi - if a little random in a big old house. Just breath-taking. If you stay, be sure to eat at Elebene, the in-house home restaurant runs by Eleanora, who has lived there all her life as part of the owning family. Far nicer to stroll across the courtyard and dine under the trees and stars, instead of climbing back into the car and driving along the narrow access road. You will not stay in a lovelier place - its not a luxury hotel but has far more character, as well as ducks and its own oil and wine.

It was perfect.

it was a great experience, getting to the villa might be a bit tricky, so if you're going there for the first time, I recommend taking a taxi. There is also a "house restaurant" on site, I definitely recommend it. the food was beautiful and fabulously delicious. everyone was very kind. thank you we will definitely be back. also the breakfast in the loggia was like in a movie. delicious, rich and with such a view

even if the refrigerator spoils the entire interior of the room, I really recommend putting the refrigerator in a closet so that there is something cold to drink by the bed at night, because the nights are hot.

If you like something that is authentic it does not come in a better wrapping. Very friendly staff that will do everything to accommodate you. Surprisingly they run a small family restaurant that is filled with love and enthusiasm and has really good food, so there is no real reason to go to the city and drive on the very narrow roads in the dark when you get back. The hotel also runs their own vine making and olive oil factory. Although there is a busy road and train tracks it is very silent during night time. We would like to come back.

If you need to be constantly online and watch the news this is probably not the place for you. Poor or no internet in the room (although working in the main lobby) and no tv in the room. Phone connection is working. But to get a few days more of less off grid is highly recommended. Also, this may not be the place for people with a walking disability as there are many stairs and not all of them are even. The place was not known to the car's navigation system and although we asked local people we could not find it easily. The signs are only on the gate and very small and not easily visible. Tip: Use Apple map, it has the right location.

One of the most beautiful hotels we have ever stayed! The villa and gardens are absolutely gorgeous. The room was very nice and comfortable too, very spacious and tastefully decorated. It was very cool inside, while outside was 32°. We immediately felt at home, we were welcomed by Eleonora, one of the sisters running this family hotel. The sisters and staff are all so nice and helpful. Breakfast and other meals we had there were fantastic. A gem of a place! Ideal to relax before or after visiting Florence. The cool swimming pool is a definite plus during hot days.

Everything was great!

When you enter the territory of this villa and the large gates will automatically close behind you, you will find yourself captivated by beauty and time. You will be transported to the Renaissance period. All elements of the style of that era are present in the architecture of the villa - first of all, it is a union of harmony and beauty, which are manifested in everything. These are large halls with vaulted ceilings, rounded arches and windows that can be reached by stone steps, ceilings with paintings, ancient floors with ceramic tiles, very thick walls, where there are probably secret passages and secret rooms. And finally, a large loggia, which adds even more beauty and respectability to this house! In one of the central halls there are busts of the owners of the house who lived here in the 15th century. This is a bust of Bernardo Rucellai and his wife Naninna, nee Lucrezia di Medici, sister of Lorenzo the Magnificent!!! From the hall there is access to a geometrically correct garden - in the center there is a round fountain where pink lilies grow, and orange and lemon trees in huge pots along the alleys. And what a scent comes from the flowers! On one side, the garden is fenced off from the hills by a high wall where wisteria has grown picturesquely. A little further down a tiny waterfall descends from the hills, falls into a reservoir and hurries further into a grove with very old oaks. Cyclamens grow along the path of the waterfall - and it's all delightfully beautiful! We stayed at the villa for only one day, but the emotions presented by this house and place will make us come back here more than once! Thanks to the owners of the villa for keeping it that way. Thanks to them for the work they do every day taking care of the villa and give us the opportunity to touch the history! Thank you for your hospitality Signor Giovanni!

This is a villa dating back to the 1200s. Just the feeling staying there is unique and exciting. Breakfast was exceptional! The property and its grounds reflect that old glory and you get to spend the night in it! It is a very interesting property to stay in, a bit daunting at night but in the morning light all seems so wonderfully beautiful. We only had one night and loved the experience!

The construction work right outside our only window could be avoided. Some of the room amenities could be updated.

The garden was amazing and the overall athmosphere was so beautiful! The house was historic and we had such a pleasure to stay in this place for two nights. Breakfast was good, a little bit of everything. Family owned restaurant was also something we would recommend anytime, both food and service was absolutely perfect. Location is convenient when travelling with a car, Prato was 10 min away where it was an easy and quick train ride to Firenze. Would love to come back and stay for longer.

Amazing property- so much history and great to see it still being so lovingly run by The Rucellai family. Beautiful gardens, exceptional client care by Eleanora and Benedetta- nothing was too much trouble. Our room was very clean, a very comfortable bed and very authentic furnishings. The dinner, cooked and served in the on-site EleBene restaurant, was delicious and so too was the homemade wine and olive oil. We can’t praise Villa Rucellai enough. Thank you.
