Exceptional location, private beach, pool and the cave system leading to the restaurant give this hotel a completely unique and romantic feel. The views from the room across the bay and towards Etna are simply incredible. On-site restaurant and bar were also great. Facilities were very good: gym, pool, plenty of staff all around the hotel. They even have a free shuttle bus service to take you up to Taormina village. This is not walkable but personally I felt it was better to be near the beach / sea then go up to the town in the evening to see the shops / restaurants / atmosphere.

We really enjoyed the breakfast however it felt like they were slightly understaffed. For example, there is only one coffee machine which the waiters use to make coffees, we had to ask multiple times and wait a long time to get even one hot drink. This was the only bad thing about the breakfast service. Everything else is great - food quality, variety and the views from the breakfast room.

The hotel has exceptional location and wonderful accommodations. We had a huge room with a balcony overlooking the beautiful bay and the city of Taormina. Could not wish for anything better. The hotel has infinity pool and beautifully set lounge chairs/umbrellas with fantastic views. There are two restaurants, both with gorgeous views. The beach is a bit small, but very beautiful with a bar/ food service. The hotel provides a free shuttle to the downtown of Taormina. There is plenty of free street parking and there is also a garage should you want to use it for an extra charge.

The pool and beach were amazing, the bar whilst expensive made nice drinks. The breakfast was also the nicest hotel breakfasts we had in Italy.

The shuttle bus system is a joke, they only have one shuttle leaving for town in the morning and if you don't book the shuttle a day before you can't actually get a seat. Taxis are severely over priced, you can use the public buses but they rarely stick to the timetable.

This is a truly stunning hotel. The main reason to stay here is for the infinity pool and the private beach (stone) which both offer stunning sea views, views of the towns along the coast, and most importantly, views of Mount Etna. The hotel was fully booked out during our stay, yet the beach and pool did not feel overcrowded, and we never had any trouble getting a lounger. You can get drinks at the poolside/ beachside bar (the staff were lovely here), as well as food items such as salads and sandwiches. There is also a sea view terrace restaurant beside the pool which offers more options for lunch food and the same great views. These amenities are unique to the area and are something not many hotels can offer in general. The rooms are a little bit dated but at the same time, it is also just European charm. The air conditioning is really good (which is very important in the high season!) and turnover was completed daily which included fresh beach/pool towels. The room also had a fully stocked mini bar. The only let down in our room was the shower-head as it was an odd shape, but the pressure was great. Beds were very comfortable and each room has a balcony with beautiful views (even if you opt for a garden view). There is a shuttle bus that takes you up to Taormina town. This runs every 10 minutes up and back but you need to book in advance (the morning time is best) as spots fill up quickly. Reception can also provide the number of a local taxi service if you want to stay in town later than the last return shuttle (which is 23.40). I also highly recommend their wellness centre - we had massages and facials which were fantastic. The hotel also offers morning outdoor workout classes and a 24/7 gym. Breakfast was good - typical European breakfast with fresh fruit, pastries and some hot options (bacon, eggs, sausage etc.). The breakfast dining area is a terrance with yet more incredible sea views. Night bar with live music was also good for a nightcap.

The only negative is that the floor we were staying on seemed to have a lot of foot traffic and the walls were not super insulated so it did wake us up some mornings. We didn't mind too much though as the hotel had too much to offer to be in bed late. However, if looking to sleep past 9am, it might be an issue for you depending on if you are a light sleeper or not. There was also some noise from the floor above (think we might have been below the gym).

UNAHOTELS Capotaormina is definately located on the best spot in Taormina. It is close to city center, cable car and beaches. It is (as all Unahotels) bit old, but this is the fame-stamp of Unahotels in Italy, since they were built very early years and it has its own charm :-) If you think to stay in this hotel, book sea-view room. Our room was spacious and had an breath-taking views from its balcony. Hotel's housekeepers working on their BEST! Our room was cleaned every morning and they prepared our room for night by preparing our bed when we were outside. I would like to highlight the name of our great housekeeper MARIA here, since she took so good care of us and our room with her team during our stay. Hotel's pool was amazing with a lovely Taormina views and we really enjoyed it. Staff working around the pool was dynamic, cheerful and helpful. The beach was extremely clean, peaceful and surrounded with a great nature. The sea has a crystal turquois waters, but it is unfortunately not suitable for children either for play or swim, since its quite rocky, both at the shore and inside of the sea. If you want to swim in this sea, you should bring your sea-shoes to protect your feet and snorkels, since it offers great under sea views around rocks. People working at the reservation was quite helpful, professional and kind people. We wanted to change our room and they did their best to help us. A huge applause at the breakfast kitchen goes to the "Desert Chef", since the cakes were MARVELLOUS!!!! :-D Overall, we really liked stay here and when we visit Taormina again, this hotel will be definately considered as an option to stay :-)

The options in breakfast was very limited. Food was finished and not refreshed on time, so we had to wait for eggs, etc... for refilling. Staff working at the breakfast area should show more attention to the guests. They are so unattended and we needed to ask what we needed for many times until we get them. One day, we waited for cleaning our table for a long time and I had to clean and prepare our own table. This issue should be solved.

The pool and beach facilities were extremely good and made the stay in Taormina perfect. The room was nice and spacious. Would stay here again just for the facilities.

The shuttle bus times were a bit annoying to get up to town with only one or two before 4pm. They also stopped at 11:40pm to get back down. This means if you want to get into town at any other time you had to get a taxi down which was 20€ each way or the public bus. Wouldn’t stop me from staying here again though as I preferred to be by the water during the day.

Location is amazing, incredible views of Mount Etna and pool is lovely. There are lots more sunbeds than in the pictures round the corner from the pool so plenty of space. There is a free shuttle to Taormina which we used, very reliable - needs booked in advance as places fill up but not a problem to plan ahead a little - could be more of a problem in peak season. Breakfast was very good - the cooked ‘British/american’ items weren’t very good but everything else was brilliant. Staff at all times were very helpful

There was only one iron in the hotel in a room with no water to add to the iron and a very stained ironing board cover. Very disappointing for a hotel of this standard. Also dinner options were limited and average

The view from the hotel room is absolutely spectacular and the staff were very helpful. It is also great that they have a shuttle bus to Taormina old town which would have been difficult to get to and park otherwise. Walking through the cave to get to the restaurant and pool is something that is literally beyond words (but amazing)! Something that we will remember forever!!!!

We found the restaurant to be good but totally overpriced. And to add insult to injury, they then add a service charge even for in house guests. To be honest, we would have eaten there more often but changed our mind after the first very expensive meal.

The location is incredible. The property is on a cliffside of the Ionian Sea. On one side you have Isola Bella, a gorgeous landmark island and what our balcony was set overlooking, and on the other a view of Mount Etna smouldering, and if you’re lucky even erupting. It is set at the base of the hillside the town sits atop meaning access to it is convenient but quiet compared to the bustling crowds and traffic further uphill. The room we had (deluxe overview) was huge. Big bathroom and a walk in closet plus a large main area with a desk, king bed, and big lounge chairs with table. We could have for another king bed in there. It was huge. On top of all this, an elevator takes you down to sea level where you will find a private pebble beach with beach bar and loungers at one end and at the other the pool. The pool side has a bar as well as a nicer waterfront restaurant. There is abundant seating around the pool but also up the hillside with quieter, more private perches on the cliffs with breathtaking views and waiter service for snacks and drinks ordered at the bar. The pool side also includes access to the sea. You can jump from the top or climb down to swim and snorkel with the fishes in a buoyed off area with hotel lifeguards nearby. The pool area alone was worth the price of our room. Speaking of the pool area, I would be remiss not to mention Daniel for his sense of humour and Italian lessons and Paolo for mixing the best drinks I’ve ever had. (Gin sour and gin fizz in particular were fantastic! Who knew Sicily made such amazing gin? I sure didn’t.) Also, Matias, the tireless young man braving uneven steps and paths to safely transport our espresso martinis to the top of the cliff. And Simone, the most hospitable lifeguard on earth and the one who got me snorkeling for the first time in my life and bribed the fish to stick around. Thank you all for making our stay magical.

The decor is definitely pretty dated. There is much blue wicker and elaborate metal lemon light fixtures in the rooms that read very 90s. The bathroom tiles are also a shade of blue that is pretty dated. There was, however, a tapestry I loved featuring traditional Sicilian symbols and characters and the names of major Sicilian places. If you guys ever remodel, I will gladly buy one of these!
