The hotel is well located, close to the cable car to the city center. The view is awesome, I could see the sunrise from my room. Staff is so friendly. They offer a possibility to access a private beach club, but there is a fee (12 euros). First I thought that was expensive, however, it is included the sun umbrella, transportation to the local (5min) and the beach and club are super nice. Also, to rent an umbrela in any beach there is way more expensive.

The breakfast could have more options and fresh fruits.

The hotel has great character and charm. It's family run, a traditional Hotel building, not a modern chain. Almost all rooms have a balcony with a sea view and there's a lift. The rooms were beautifully cleaned everyday. The beds have cotton sheets and plenty of blankets. The hotel is close to the sea shore which is much quieter than being in Taormina. To get to the town you can walk up stepped path in 25 minutes or take the funicular. All the hotel staff from reception to waiters to cleaners are polite, kind and attentive. The waiters in the dining room will know your name in five minutes and chat to you if you want. I was by myself but never felt lonely. The food is exceptional: The evening meal menu offers a choice of three or four different starters and main courses every evening, always a different fresh fish available for a main course. Plenty of vegetarian options. There's a pasta or soup or risotto or salad first course which is big enough for a meal in itself. Desserts are a choice of gateau or fruit salad or delectable creme caramel. The waiters bring your food on a trolley under silver dish covers, everything is done with old style and real charm. A peaceful relaxing place to stay where you'll meet local Sicilians and enjoy true hospitality.

Hotel Ipnema is well situated to explore and enjoy some of the most acclaimed coastal spots in all of Sicily. The hotel really does facilitate the best of both worlds: walking distance to beautiful beaches and coves such as Isola Bella as well as close proximity to local bus stop and two minute walk from the cable car which transports to Taormina centre. Prime position for sure. The hotel itself hosted character and charm with well informed staff who facilitated every possible excursion detail or amenity required. Such lovely people who are invested in their work and enable guests to feel reassured and catered for at all times. Fellow guests at the hotel were also quality company enabling a safe, happy and relaxed atmosphere for all. The rustic charm of the courtyard on an evening was particularly a highlight - surrounded by beautiful lemon trees and the ambience of a vast and eclectic music experience, guests were able to sit independently or collectively to reflect their adventures and relax each evening. The bar served a vast range of choices and was attended by staff with care and consideration.

The hotel and breakfast was everything that was promised - a great choice of accommodation to enhance our Sicily experience. To add, I would say that the images online do not best represent the offering prepared each day - a delicious selection to suit the individual. Not disregarding the charm of the hotel, of which charm is in abundance, there are facilities and decoration that could be updated which is the only point raised from former guests via reviews that I also noted during the duration of my own stay. This aside, my own experience of the hotel could not have been better.

An old fashioned hotel with traditional high service standards. Perfect position between sea and town near to cable car to get to town. The rooms were a good size and had small charming balconies, with views out to sea. Bathrooms dated but very functional always plenty of hot water and good plumbing. There was the essential fridge in the room. The staff were friendly and helpful especially Christina on reception. The dining room was run incredibly efficiently by the four waiting gentlemen. The food was a simple,wholesome and plentiful affair, with fish always on the menu. There was a small pool and a large solarium area on the roof with fabulous views out to sea.

Dangerous entry and exit to hotel, near a bend and no foot path on a fast road with constant traffic. The pool area was small and in need of updating. I had advised the hotel that we were celebrating a significant wedding anniversary during our stay but no mention was made. We were not advised prior to our stay that the hotels private beach would be closed.

Staff at reception were friendly and very helpful. Great location for access to the beach. Comfortable beds. Good value. AC worked well.

Difficult to get into Taormina town centre, it's a cable car (10 euros return ticket), an expensive taxi or a long sweaty walk up many steps. Breakfast options were basic. The condiontion of my bathroom and the pool area was a bit tatty.

ipanema hotel is placed in the very nice area just 10 minutes from Isola Bella. Hotel itself is not the newest- furnitures are quite old as well as equipment. it is clean I must say. Stuff is very helpful and friendly. pool is nice but sun beds and umbrellas are really old. breakfast is fine, but for 4 stars hotel we missed fresh fruits, more than 1 cheese and, the most important, good Coffee. Coffee was very bad like instant and this is Italy!!! in general big plus for location

The staff are fabulous, nothing is too much trouble for them, from the wonderful receptionist Maria, to the engmatic bar manager, Mario. The rooms are excellent value for peak season as is the optional evening meal, which is 3 courses for €25 and beautifully served at the table. The wine is also good value, very decent Nero d'avola at €22 per bottle is excellent for a hotel or restaurant. The pool area is ok for a dip but somewhat cramped. The level below is much bigger and would have been a much better choice for the pool area. There are 2 mini markets a minute down the road for pretty much anything you would like which is really handy, as it's the cable car to Taormina town, at €10 return in summer. We got lucky with one of the 6 parking spaces, but if you miss one, parking is an absolute nightmare. We didn't move the car at all while there! All in all a recommended hotel if you want to stay in Taormina.

Lack of snacks and drinks on the roof top. Just someone popping up every half hour to see if anyone wants them would make a lot of difference and be more lucrative for the hotel. The position is near the steps to two 'beaches'. I put this in apostrophes as the one that looks amazing from above and in pics is just big pebbles and absolutely rammed with people at the end of August, unpleasantly so. We didn't stay on either of them, though the one to the left looking out to sea is a little better but not really my idea of a good beach at all. Also anywhere with a sea view is expensive. All this is nothing to do with the hotel of course, but worth pointing out all the same.

Clean & comfortable hotel typical Italian style decor. And a great view of the Mediterranean Sea from the hotels roof top area with a pool . The breakfast was lovely & the staff in the breakfast dining room were friendly but did not speak English very well which is not really a big deal just very hard to understand them. They did a fantastic job in the dining room. The location was perfect only 4 min walk to the cable cars to take you into town & only 3 euro each way .. and a little mini market down the road only 2 min walk from hotel which was handy for little essentials like water & fruit. The beach is also only minutes away across the road . It was a very pleasant stay !

Not enough car spaces if your rent a car. Such a huge hotel & only 6 car spaces & very very tight .. So it’s pot luck most times . It’s actually quite frustrating & a disappointment ! There’s a car parking bay down the road near the cable cars that you might find a parking spot for a fee but once again it gets quite full with all the beach comers for the day so once again you are driving around in circles to find a car spot .

Very friendly and helpful staff. We were half board so had breakfast and dinner in the hotel. Breakfast was normal continental breakfast. Evening meal was 3 courses. Food was lovely. Meals plated at the table by your waiter. Lovely experience. Hotel is clean and comfortable. Nice facilities. Private beach is lovely.

The pool is up a steep set of stairs which is not good for people with limited mobility. There is no shade over the top part of the stairs so the hand rails are scorching hot and can’t be used if you are unsteady on your feet. Mattresses were brick hard.

A charming old-style Italian resort hotel located on a gorgeous bay. Very close to both the beaches and the chairlift up to the historical centre. Engaging and helpful staff, especially Cristine and Vincenzo. Staying here is like stepping back in time - delicious 3-course evening meal served by waiters in tuxedos.

The coffee served at breakfast is not good and the machine needs upgrading to produce real Italian coffee.
