Given that Taormina attracts a well-heeled crowd and you’re either staying at exclusive or something far less, this place is a decent 4 star hotel that has a reason refurbishment. It’s conveniently located (although if one had mobility issues, this would not be the place to book). The staff (Vincenza & Guilia stand out) were friendly, accommodating and personal. The rooms are modern and tasteful with good views.

Some of the sea facing with balcony room options have not been refurbished yet so I’d be very specific when booking to ask for one of the refurbished ones!

This hotel is located on a quiet street next to a handy Coop supermarket and a gorgeous pizzeria at Porta Messina. The interior is minimalist in design with excellent choices for breakfast. A special mention and thanks to Pepe and Antonio who worked on breakfast service.

The pool and bedroom balcony are in shade after lunch - so you have to go in search of a sunny spot elsewhere. ( Unfortunately the cable car to beach is still out of action.) The bedrooms on first floor are very compromised in terms of natural daylight and views. . We awoke on our first morning to a very dark room - our window was over looking a wall with plastic greenery - as we were staying for a week - the wonderful receptionist promptly moved us upstairs to a sunny light filled bedroom.

The location of the hotel is perfect, only a short walk into the city. Lots of restaurants & cafes nearby. The pool was gorgeous, yes limited beds but we found most people didn't stay around the pool for the whole day so you could always get one later in the afternoon. Pool bar man was lovely & always looked after us. Omelette chef at breakfast was lovely & breakfast was good. Cleaners very good, rooms were kept immaculate the whole stay.

Reception staff not the friendliest. Pool food expensive (apart from the aranchini) we paid €30 for 2x chicken salads & they were a poor standard with processed chicken. Room 201-202 you could hear the bins being emptied extremely loudly every morning around 6am. I’m an early riser so didn’t bother me too much but I could see how that could annoy others so maybe ask for a room on the pool side. No coffee making facilities in the rooms & we found drinks a little expensive.

Room had balcony overlooking the sea and small street at front of hotel. Sun up to late afternoon. Air con if needed. STAFF CULD NOT HAVE DOEN MORE TO MAKE STAY PLEASANT. Any request was met and even if not asked and they noticed that one of you used two pillows, next morning both had two. The hotel was so clean as was the pool area. the pool attendant and barman-did both-was lovely and made great cocktails. So willing to help. Breakfast was more than ample and again, if asked for a stronger coffee, you got it. Reception, again willing to help and friendly. Yes, the staff made the stay.

Our room had two draws in wardrobe that simply would not stay shut if wardrobe doors were open. Need repairing, but stayed closed when wardrobe doors shut. So not a major issue. Maybe some more storage, like drawers would be useful for those like us staying over a week. Most guests seem to stay 3 days max.

The location was good as just far enough away from the main area of Taormina but close enough to still walk in The breakfast staff were very friendly

I don’t think that customers should be allowed to save day beds around pool area as pool staff allow ,, it’s a small pool area with limited day beds & if your not there to use the beds then too bad - one afternoon there were 5 day beds reserved for 3 hours with no one on them just towels & pool staff told me they were reserved - get up with the times …

We loved our stay at Splendid Hotel! The hotel was very modern and clean. We had a wonderful view from our bedroom, where we were upgraded to a terrace. We enjoyed using the pool and the variety at breakfast was great as well - loved the cannoli! Staff were always kind and welcoming. Location is absolutely perfect - only a short walk from Porta Messina. We wish we could’ve stayed longer!

Although we got a free upgrade to the terrace, the room itself was quite small and there was no space to open up our two luggages. The terrace itself was quite big so it would have also been nice to have a chair and table in addition to the lounge chairs.

The hotel is comfortable and very clean. The location was great and the staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. Special thanks to Antonio and to Maria, who were our waiters most of our meals. These guys were there serving us late at night at their fantastic restaurant (Kairos - which was incredible by the way) and early in the morning were there with a smile to serve us at breakfast. They were kind to our kids, gave us incredible wine and food recommendations and we were glad we trusted them ☺️💪🏻 Taormina is super charming. Staying at this hotel gave us the best of it. A little pool time with the most fantastic view, and then easy access to all the shopping and best restaurants in town. Super super recommend it.

We were pushing it with as a couple + two babies staying in one of their standard double bedroom - but even just as a couple the room would have felt a little small. Looking at the pictures it felt like we would have plenty of room, but that was not the case. Even so, it felt like a super minor thing in comparison to the rest of the hotel and how much we enjoyed it.

The property was exactly as described and pictured online - charming, clean and welcoming. Pool area was a great feature, views were fantastic. Rooms were nice, spacious and clean. Everything worked and front desk staff was fantastic. Easy and inexpensive valet parking. Loved the early check in/late check out options - you can stay almost the whole second day for 40 eur. so if you are not in a rush to leave and want to spend an extra afternoon at the pool terrace, this is a great option. Breakfast was unbelievable - wide selection, warm options, excellent service.

Pool closing relatively early in comparison to American standards - they were wrapping up by 6.30. Strangely the pool bar would stay open till 11. Some of the rooms that cost extra for the sea view had the view partially obscured by funky buildings close to the hotel properly. So you get a “sea view” but half of it is a neighbor’s balcony with their laundry hanging out to dry :)

Sea view and balcony, comfortable bed, swimming pool two steps from the room, convenient location right near the center but away from the crowds, pleasant interior somewhat close to icelandic minimalism style, good continental breakfast with a wide variety of dishes, very nice and helpful staff, nice choice of cocktails at the bar

Compared to European hotels, this is what you normally get in a 3 star hotel in Germany, France or Scandinavia that charge less for the same range of services and conditions. No such bare minimum things as slippers, bath gowns and minibar with snacks and drinks were present, all of which are normally included starting with 4 stars (only a fridge with bottled water), no kettle, cups and packeted tea & coffee set either - which are basics regardless of the star count. Certain neglect to detail, such as loose electric sockets or forgot to put a dustbin when preparing the room, had to request it.

Very very good location, pool is great, breakfast was pretty good and the view from the restaurant was immaculate. Rooms are clean and it is a good hotel- no doubting that

For the price we paid we expected a luxury hotel, which it wasn’t. We were a bit disappointed overall- for more than 300€ per night the TV and AC should be working/ easier to control and the staff was just so-so. When we left our key card at the front desk they didn’t even say good bye. It was very impersonal to say the least.
