April 2023

Nice retreat. Location is about a 20 - 30min bus ride from Hakone station. From the retreat you can walk / bike (45min / 20 min) to hike the nearby mountain with a view over Fuji. I stayed 1 night which was fine. There isn't that much to do in the area so I'd recommend max 2 nights. All-day free, GOOD coffee (hard in Japan), in the cafe. A nice little place on the premises. This adds quite a lot if you want to chill there. GREAT breakfast Onsen were very nice, but a bit tugged away in the back, no view.

Rooms have aged somewhat (plaster coming off) and are themselves not very luxurious. Balconies do have a nice little view over the garden

This place is really lovely. Being in amongst the trees creates a very relaxing environment. The room was a good size with comfy beds and a nice seating area. There was a decent coffee machine in the room as well as a speaker to play music. The big window with a view of the trees was amazing - especially when the deer visit at dusk. Nice and quiet place. Breakfast was delicious and very comprehensive (lots of choices if you want western style or japanese style). All the staff are very friendly and accommodating (especially Ayako). The onsen was nice and I particularly liked that it was open all night as I prefer to use it alone or with few people in. The shared chill out area and games room were something I wasn't expecting but a nice surprise. We made good use of this space and enjoyed the welcome drink - a nice touch. The hotel have electric bikes for hire for a very reasonable rate which we used to cycle to the Botanical Gardens. A few previous guests have commented about the rooms needing a paint but it actually looks like they have chosen a rustic style of decor and it didn't bother us at all. It works with the industrial style of polished concrete in the bathroom. We were also almost put off by previous guests suggesting that the location is too far from anything. In reality it's a 5 minute walk down the driveway to a bus stop and a 20 min ride to Gora where you can connect to most places very easily. We really loved our stay and wouldn't hesitate to book again if we are back in Japan.

November 2024

I stayed at this property for 2 nights and it was at the end of a 3 week trip around Japan, so the quiet and remote location was perfect for me. The room was a good size and the public onsen was really nice after a big day of sightseeing. The rooms do need a refresh of paint, but otherwise the shower was good and handy to have the coffee/tea machine and fridge as well. I really loved the breakfast buffet, it was delicious. It is at least a 30-40min windy bus ride from the main area and then a fair up hill walk from the bus stop - which I didn't mind.

The room service was limited and very expensive. Given the location is quite remote, it would be good to have more options for when you arrive late

The Onsen is average, one small pool inside and one outside. There are apartments with private Onsen too on the location though. The Japanese food was also average, a bit overpriced compared to the quality. The tuna sashimi was stringy. The presentation of the dishes was nice. At the end you get a huge bowl of rice to fill up the gaps if you didn't eat enough food.

The garden was a bit messy, our room smelled like smoke and there was no separation for the shower splash in the bathroom. The small town has a very nice glass museum and some great restaurants.

This was a real retreat from the city and I thoroughly enjoyed my stay here. We left feeling recharged and at ease after just 1 night in this beautiful space. The room was a good size, with comfortable beds and a gorgeous view of the autumn foliage. The powerful speakers were an added bonus! The common areas were abundant for rest and relaxation, with board games and coloring sheets, snacks and beverages for all. The compound was so peaceful and quiet, it was such a dream. Meals were also delicious, we had both dinner and breakfast and everything was delicious. I was particularly impressed by the extensive and generous buffet breakfast spread.

The bathroom was unlike the usual Japanese style, which would have elevated the overall experience. I felt that it was the only part of the room that didn't match the premium price we were paying. While the space was very well-designed, we noticed many areas of improvements in terms of upkeep - common areas and the room itself had dust in many corners and vents.

Arrival was very smooth, golf cart avalable to pick up our luggage on the main road so we dont have to drag it up the hill (same available during check out). Staff very pleasant; they showed us around, explained services, opening hours, facilities. Room was spacious; clean, daily cleaning available. Onsen was clean, facilities nice, equipment for hygiene was great (plenty skincare products)

Temperature in the room, especially to regulate the temperature. It was either too cold or too hot and we couldnt find a way to control it properly. At the end however, we just used the fireplace.

The staff helped us in anything that we asked, there is a coffee room where you can sit infront of a small lake and drink coffe during the day. I am very recommanding to take the dinner, it is 6 dish and they change it on daily bases. The room was ok, the bed was good for a tall guy like me :)

The location of the hotel is a bit isolated, from one side it is good but for those who want to see hakone and using the public transportaion, i recommand to buy the Hakone Pass becuase you will use the bus a lot. And i think that the price is a bit high for what you get

The staff was so helpful and lovely and work very hard. It was raining heavily and I called the hotel From the bus stop and someone came and collected me. Great location Very peaceful and relaxing

It’s quite expensive The room was hot and stuffy and smelt of feet. There needs to a fan in there to circulate the air better because the air con is non existent The hotel should be for adults and older children only it’s not suitable for babies and toddlers, you’re in this peaceful and serene environment and you can hear toddlers and babies crying or just being loud.

This is a beautiful, retreat like, escape property in the mountains - very relaxing and we had a lovely stay. I particularly liked the little extras like the free barista coffee, the bar and coffee room, the lovely games room with a guitar and puzzles and wooden games and of course the onsen with hot springs. The room was very spacious and beds comfortable. Our room had a gorgeous view of the mountains and the area is quiet with lots of trees and no road noise.

The room is a little more run down than the pictures, it could do with a little 'fixing up', slight smell of damp and just could do with a freshen up as it has aged a bit. The onsen is closed between 10 and 2 the the room service and food options are quite limited and very expensive, which in conjunction with the rather remote location, is a good thing to know.

Brilliantly relaxing setting, very comfortable and cosy rooms and the onsen was amazing. I opted for the Japanese dinner which was such an unique experience with delicious food. Welcome drink service was a lovely surprise too! Conveniently bus stops are 5 minute walk from the resort, so moving around is easy even without car. I have already recommended this resort to many of my friends who are looking to visit the area!

Some staff members could have been friendlier, I did not necessarily feel welcomed and felt like an inconvenience at times. No one informed me before arrival that I could have had a car pick me up from the road - I dragged my 25kg suitcase uphill without knowing unfortunately. It is a good service and should be mentioned to guests
