The best of this hotel is location and price. It is just one minute walk from Ueno station (JR Shinkansen Station), and 3 minutes from Keisei Ueno station (Skyliner station). The price is also very cheap and is great value. Staff is helpful and speaks good English
The rooms are small. Even I pay about 15% more for a larger room, it is still quite small. It is not that bad by Japanese standards, but I do prefer a more normal size room. Fortunately, it still had a desk that I can comfortably work on my laptop. The furnishing is a bit run down, but I really don't care as I just sleep there for one night.

One of the best places I stayed. Definitely was more than enough for me as a solo traveler. It's really close to the station. The daily amenities provided along with some extras, like a small chocolate, creams, or coffee ticket were all lovely. The room was spacious enough for my luggage, which was a huge plus. I honestly wish I had stayed here longer, which i hope i will in the future. The staff was very helpful with everything.
Like most hotels in Japan that I've seen, the shower has curtains, and it's impossible to not touch or brush by these, so only this was a bit uncomfortable for me. I hope hotels slowly switch to cabinets or doors instead of curtains in showers. Lastly, and this is just a personal preference, but I wish the duvet on the bed was covered. In some places including here, there's a sheet and a duvet on top. I understand that it's definitely great for humid weather of course, however in autumn, when we use both, the uncovered duvet was a bit uncomfortable to have to use, I'd have preferred had i known it had a cover that changed every 3 days (cleanings are every 3 days usually). But overall, I'd definitely stay here again.

Staff very friendly. Can communicate basic english. Very accomodating. Room is value for money. Have all the basic necessity. Location is great. Right next to Ueno station. Small toilets but all equipped with basic needs. Clean.
Room windows are not sound proof. You may hear police or ambulance sirens. There is a bar right outside of the hotel. You will hear some shouting. Cold draft may occur. Toilet is very small.

The staffs are very nice. I’m very impressed. They allow me to deposit my luggages 1-day before my check-in date for free! They also gave me a skincare kit and you can take a bath salt for free at the counter. The location is very convenience as you can travel with various transportation nearby, such as subway, JR train, Keisei to the airport.
The room is quite small like a normal Japanese style and has some musty smells. By the way, it’s clean and not that old.

Locaton. Very near Ueno station which is very convienent. Highly recommended. The staff are very friendly too. The place is also near Ameyoko, and Ueno Park so these are good bonuses.
Room is a bit small which is expected from most Japan hotels. Hence if you have a lot of luggages/bags, it might be a bit of a challenge on moving.

Proximity to station and many amenities. Spoilt for choice in terms of food establishments and shopping. Near park and museums.
Nil. So far, nothing to complaint about. As usual, the crowd can be menacing.

The best part is location. I chose this hotel since it is next to Ueno train station which is a major transportation hub. The second reason is that there are lots of shopping places and numerous eating places a few step away from the hotel. Stayed twice first in the traditional japanese room and the second time in a twin room. The twin room has two beds and is comfortable.
The traditional Japanese room is quite a different experience room. I felt it is too small for me. And the layout is not what I get used to. But it may be the way the traditional room is. Wifi was weak during the first stay, but no problem in the two room on the 7th floor.

The proximity to Ueno Park was fantastic for our family. We could walk to National Museum of Tokyo, the Zoo and the International Library of Children’s Literature. Ueno Hotel is in the best neighborhood for small local restaurants and shops without the hassle of high rises and traffic. The staff treated us like royalty!
Everything was wonderful!

We chose this hotel twice mainly due to its location: just steps away from UENO train station which is a major transportation hub. Plus the hotel is very close to shopping areas such as Ameyoko. There are literally hundreds of restaurant around the hotel and tons of people eating and socializing in the evenings and nights. The hotel building also has two restaurants on the second and third floor. They are not related to the hotel though. The hotel staff is super nice, especially the young lady who had studied in the US and speaks perfect English. The room is on the smaller side with two beds, but are comfortable.
The lobby is a bit small and is quite often filled with stored luggage.

The location is awesome as it is very close to many restaurants and Ueno station, and also walking distance to Ameyoko street. The location is almost perfect if only there's a 7-11 beside it. Nonetheless, the nearest convenience store is a small family mart. Then the closest 7-11 is a big one but it's a block away (not too far). The room size is okay. The bed and the bathroom is always clean! The staff are very friendly and nice too.
None. We love it.
