The sea food restaurant is exceptional. The spa is superb and the 2 massage therapists I encountered were very talented. Enjoyed swimming in the ocean. The grounds are lovely and well maintained. The staff is very friendly and helpful.

The buffet style restaurant was OK. Few gluten free options. Always ran out of food so you had to stand around and wait for more food to arrive. I complained and spoke to the sous chef. She was courteous but I did not see much improvement. The hotel had a huge number of men lodging there from the HMS Lancaster. They were well behaved but dominated certain areas, like the pool. It was tough to go on a beach walk due to the hawkers. They were very persistent and this really was a huge negative for us. We complained to security but I got the impression there was not much they could do. The hawkers are not allowed to enter the resort so you are really on your own when you go for a beach walk or want to go swimming in the ocean.

It’s hard to find fault with this hotel. The staff could not be more friendly, efficient and attentive to your every need. The food was excellent with great variety and you really feel that you are valued and not just another guest. The staff really make you feel at home and very welcome. There is one main restaurant which serves a different buffet nightly which is excellent and one other restaurant on the beach so for those who like a large resort this might be on the small side. The rooms are spotlessly clean the only thing that could be improved upon are the bathrooms which need updating but were very clean with fresh towels daily. The beach is beautiful and the deck chair service is excellent, we found our towels on the chairs each morning ready for our arrival. Lunch is served on the lawn by the beach and the deck chair drink’s service is excellent. There is a newly installed Padel court which is fairly priced and easy to hire too. Everything about this hotel is charming from the immaculate grounds to the relaxed vibe. For anyone wanting a party hotel this is not for you as it is a quiet family style hotel but there is nightly entertainment from live music to acrobatic shows. We wouldn’t hesitate to book another fantastic stay at this lovely hotel.

Everything was excellent, the guest room bathrooms could do with an update but apart from that it’s faultless.

Staff were exceptional, very helpful, and catered to every need. The facilities were very good with plenty of activities to keep all age groups entertained and engaged. The dining options were great and the breakfast buffet was very extensive and delicious

Aside from 500ml per person per day there was no provided fresh water for guests aside from purchasing. The spa and steam room was out of order in the male section of the health centre but the sauna was great. The location on the beach front is lovely but a bit far from Mombasa town if you wish to do activities there

Lovely location right on the beach with sun beds conveniently located on the hotel lawn where it is very peaceful. There is also a nice pool, beachside bars, and food service. The buffet is quite good if you book it as part of your package. Large rooms with comfortable beds.

I tried to settle my bill the night before an early morning check out, this was complicated and took a long time, and then I still had to go through the whole process the next moning while trying to catch a taxi because there doesn't seem to be a system to share information between staff. I had an issue with my room that took the whole day to address as the duty manager had to run all requests by someone off the property despite being a fairly minor request. The staff does their best but can't really do anything because everything must be authorized by someone off site. With the cost of the hotel there would ideally be quicker and more efficient handling of guest requests/issues.

The hotel has a beautiful garden overlooking the ocean where you can spend the whole day either enjoying the pool or the sun. It also has access to the beach, but it is a public beach. There are also a few restaurants inside the hotel, one being close to the beach. The hotel organize night events. The room was big and very clean. The stuff is very kind and allow me to do a late check-out (extra-season).

The hotel allows corporate parties/events during some days which can be annoying in case you want a quiet day at the pool. I did not like the fact that the hotel is more oriented towards business (people/activities) than towards tourists and the opportunity to offer them a pleasant vacation.

property, staff, food, gym and spa, well kept manicured gardens, comfortable beds

no reliable internet in room (nor gym), rooms old and ‘tired’ and need some attention (doors do not close well, chairs not confortable). Hotel just reopened after being closed for 12 months due to Covid - which may explain some of the deficiencies.

In a delightful locale, boasting a distinct allure, I kindly request your attention to the child club and its supportive services. I'm grateful for the two remarkable ladies who have been instrumental in this endeavor. To enhance the child room and activities, I suggest exploring ways to expand and enrich the offerings, as they currently have limited scope.

The rooms are small compared to modern standards, but the main issues are with the infrastructure and personnel: 1/ The air conditioning is noisy and requires cleaning, and the mattresses need to be replaced; 2/ The personnel require more training, as they did not inform guests that tables needed to be reserved for dinner, resulting in a negative atmosphere. The kitchen staff in the morning were unfriendly, which also affected the breakfast experience.

Food was very good and I appreciated the variety. The rooms were clean and very private/comfortable. The grounds were well taken care of and much care was given to the care of the guests. I don’t usually get a spa treatment, but I did this time and was pleasantly surprised. Flippy was amazing! I also appreciated the facilities to get in a few good workouts as well as a pool big enough for swimming laps.

The Air conditioner in my room didn’t work very well at all. I was very hot sleeping every night. Every meal I was overwhelmed by the constant attention of the staff while trying to eat. I just wanted to be left alone, but constantly asked questions. I felt like I was being watched every second. I appreciated the care, but it was a bit much! I even had a staff member ask me to sponsor his kids in school. It made me feel really guilty for enjoying myself when his kids are struggling so much. That said, as visitors we really do appreciate the kindness, but it’s hard to reconcile the two worlds without being made to feel bad we can’t help make life easier for some.

The staff was attentive, professional, friendly, helpful and attentive. The property and grounds were picturesque. The grounds were very well kept. The details of everything is something to see. The fresh fruit and food was delicious. There were many good vegan, vegetarian options to choose from, which was helpful because I am a vegan. My husband enjoyed the meat options. The various amounts of drink options were also appreciated. Our visit to beautiful Mombasa, Kenya was an experience and our stay at Serena Beach Resort & Spa was an experience just in itself. I don't even think we had walked the entire compound as there were several areas for restaurants, activities, wine/cocktail bar/poolside bar seating and other multi-purpose seating areas. The steps that led us to the beautiful bech held even more opportunities to enjoy water activities, ride a catamaran boat out to feed and swim with the fish (look for Ali because he was wonderful), take photos with the camels, get your name carved in wood, and shop at the local pop up on the beach- so bring some Kenyan shilling. We got lucky and played football with the local young kids on the beach! It rained more than usual so we weren't able to hop on the jet skis this time. We truly loved every minute of my stay and have aspirations to return again someday. I am highly recommending Serena Beach Resort & Spa to anyone who is going to stay in Mombasa, Kenya. I am also recommending Kenya in general because it was a beautiful place with beautiful people. Thank you all so much for an unforgettably amazing trip! Asanti San!

I didn't like how I was unable to spend more time there but that is due to that i am not a Kenyan resident yet.

I had a wonderful stay at this hotel and would highly recommend it to others. The staff was incredibly friendly and attentive, making me feel welcome from the moment I arrived. They were always available to assist with any requests or questions I had during my stay. The cleanliness of the hotel was impressive. The rooms were spotless and well-maintained, creating a comfortable and inviting atmosphere. The beds were beautifully prepared and tucked, ensuring a restful night's sleep. The breakfast offered a wide selection of options to choose from. Although the European food choices were limited, considering the hotel's location in Africa, it was still acceptable and didn't detract from the overall quality of the breakfast experience. The hotel boasted a reasonable-sized pool, which was perfect for relaxing and enjoying a refreshing swim. It provided a great way to unwind after a long day of activities. The hotel's taxi service was reliable and reasonably priced. It made transportation hassle-free and convenient, allowing me to explore the surrounding area with ease. One of the highlights of my stay was dining at Jahazi Grill. The food served there was truly top-notch, surpassing my expectations. The flavours were exquisite, and the presentation was impeccable. It was a dining experience to remember. Overall, this hotel exceeded my expectations in terms of service, cleanliness, amenities, and dining. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay and would not hesitate to book here again in the future.

I can't think of anything.
