The hotel is basically a series of self-contained units, each with its own entrance. We were upgraded to a 2 bed unit, which was great because the front of the unit faced a very busy road and we were able to sleep in the back room which was a lot quieter. The unit was spacious, it had a washer/dryer combo machine, it had 2 TVs, it had an induction cooktop and a full sized fridge. The location was fine, close to Pasar Lebuh Cecil (hawker centre on Cecil, excellent for breakfast), walking distance to local shopping malls. It was easy to arrive and leave by Grab (the local Uber equivalent, be sure to download the app and set it up), but just need to walk a few metres as the driver might not be able to safely stop right outside the hotel (busy road). Overall it was a comfortable stay.

The hotel should investigate better soundproofing for these units. If people walked past the front door chatting, we could hear exactly what they were saying. If we did not receive the room upgrade, we would have slept in a front room facing the busy road and we would definitely need earplugs. A clothes airer with coathangers and pegs would be a useful addition to the room.

the bathroom floor tiles at basin & wc area is glossy type like the wall tile hence its slippery & dangerous. i almost slipped!. hope the owner can change like the one at shower area before someone get hurt or injured

It looks antique outside but very modern and comfy inside. The whole suite is spacious with one king size bed in 1 bedroom and queen size in the other. The building is naturally cold too, just like typical old building. It's clean and has many amenities just like an apartment does. Staffs are friendly and helpful, they confirm our arrival time beforehand so we don't have to wait for check-in; self check-out is easy too. Great location, of a walking distance to Lebuh Cecil Market, some famous restaurants, and grocery shop (Village Grocer at 1st Avenue Mall). The window soundproofing is not so good but the road itself gets quiet during the night so we have a pleasant sleep. Overall, it's a great stay

The unit is too humid due to the lack of ventilation and bathroom fan not working, some wall paint on living area bubble or peel, bathroom ceiling is a bit moldy too, and the curtain smells musty. 3-5 mm cracks are visible on several walls, renovation is due. One side of the sofa smells like urine when we sit on it (which cause air to be pumped out of sofa and bring out the smell), it's dry though so maybe previous guest's child peed it accidentally and it absorbed to the cushion. Not a big problem as long as we don't sit on it

okay, let me just write a couple of words towards this amazing facility. we have been traveling across Malaysia for a family holiday, and we visited many cities and stayed at many many hotels ranging from seven stars to private apartment accommodations. Macallum Hotel is the only property my wife asked me to praise precisely!!! we were moving accommodation and making last moment changes when we decided to book this hotel. a concern was there as the time lapse between checking out from existing property at 12 pm and the check in time at 3 pm at the hotel! (peak hours for tourist travelers). i dropped a message to the hotel 12 pm requesting for an early check in, if possible! surprisingly, in no time Emma has responded back the room will be ready after half an hour 😍 - outstanding customer services ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ By the time we grabbed a cap and reached to the location the room was ready, and the check in process was no way easier, smoother, or faster ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ the facility itself is a piece of heaven in the middle of the unpleasant surroundings (city centered location-you know what I mean). So, yeah, the hotel is in q brand new condition from inside out. spontaneously clean and shining. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ rooms are soooo spacious and super comfortable ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ We booked our stay on a last minute deal by booking, so we literally paid one third of the room price. Value for money ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ if by any chance, we will be visiting Penang again, this hotel will be our first and foremost choice 👍🏻

It was great to have an apartment with lounge and kitchen including a washing machine. Location was fantastic, close to a big shopping centre and bus station.

There was a musty odour in the bedroom when aircon first put on but seemed to settle. There were flaky patches on the wall in the hallway but it didn't worry us as the price was so good for all the amenities

We came here after a terrible experience at Bayview Resort Hotel where we had to cancel our stay and switch the hotels. This place was the same money but totally different experience! Very private. Large room with 2 bedrooms, bathroom, kitchen and living room. Well air conditioned. The location was great! Easy check in and check out. Everyday we were asked about housekeeping services. We had a washing machine as well. Walking 15-20 min to downtown. We really enjoyed our stay.

Could use a bit of renovation for cracks on the walls. But it doesn't affect the stay itself. So, nothing to be bothered about.

I book one suite room. They upgrade my room to two bed suite room. Hahaha just 1 person of me. Midnight quietness really good. The bed the place just like home. Will go back to stay if im there.weather too hot. The whole day just stay in room.

The building starting crack. The stair got few got hole. The second room walk crack. Really management need take a look with the whole building. If can do install another glass door after the wooden door. Daytime really noisy. Night time was not safe.keep ppl wan to enter and press the number. Really hope it can be better.

We were a family of four and the space was sufficiently large. Just one toilet though, so we had to take turns to use it. The hotel is right at the main road so if you are sensitive to sound , you might want to avoid this hotel as the vehicle noises can get very loud. It didn’t bother us though. Toilet was clean enough, beds were comfortable enough, staff were friendly and helpful. The apartment was sufficiently equipped with washing machine, fridge, kettle, induction cooker, microwave. Location is alright if you’re taking grab everywhere.

Dryer wasn’t working well but staff handled it well and had it sorted for us. Not a negative point but if you have young kids you might want to avoid this as the apartment is a walk-up on the second floor with no safety gate.

Private and good space. Good location, close to shopping malls, supermarkets, hawkers stalls and old town attractions. Furniture was comfortable and all required kitchen items supplied. Staff were excellent and always available.

Shower needs fixing, wouldn't stay in place during a shower and shower door does not seal properly. Paint work is peeling a bit on walls and ceiling and need a recoat. Our biggest issue was MacCallum Street, very, very busy and at times almost impossible to cross. Not the fault of the hotel.

Good location, easy access to restaurant with walking distance & short distance to major attraction with car. Free upgrading our rooms. Daily cleaning & replenish bottle water, toiletries & towels. Kitchen equied with essential items, 2 in 1 Washer & dryer. Coffee machine at lobby for free coffee. Friendly staffs. They help you to refill water into your Tumbler or bottle. Early check in when we arrived. Free late check out till 1pm. Can keep our luggage after check out.

No parking. If you drive here, got to park at road side & maybe challenge to find parking. No water filter & dispenser in room. Reception only open from 9am-7pm. Front room noisy, can hear vehicles passing. Water flowing out from floor traps when you shower or using basin.
