Excellent hotel with distinct history and character in a perfect location on Jalan Gaya in the heart of the old town. Simple elegant decor is old style and reflects the almost 60 year history of this independent hotel. Exceptionally helpful and genuinely friendly staff are a real asset. No requests were too much trouble. Rooms spacious and clean. Great place to actually be in Sabah, rather than in another global corporate hotel chain. Very close walking distance to innumerable small family restaurants and shopping, and opposite the Sabah Tourism Headquarters.

the hotel was very well maintained, the room was very large, it was super clean, had a mini fridge, the furnishings were nice, so many of the cheaper hotels are finished off roughly, this was not, the staff were fantastic. always saying hello or acknowledging you, I felt really comfortable, they do not provide breakfast at the hotel, but there are so many places to eat around, and that is why it’s a bit cheaper, they also provide water in glass bottles to reduce waste, yay! would recommend it.

Room was booked without breakfast. The hotel is strategically located and housekeeping service was very good. The room was big and adequately furnished. I particularly liked the large study desk which had very good lighting to clear work comfortably. The bathroom counter was sufficiently large and the shower was good.

I have 2 complaints:- 1. The Asian News channel and Movies channels on TV kept breaking down by freezing/pausing despite complaining to front desk. 2. The hotel needs a covered drive through to keep guests protected from the rain when alighting from their vehicles to enter or exit the hotel.

The room is very spacious and the building is clean and airy. The staff are wonderful, friendly and caring. The location is close to many malls, shops and restaurants. (Go to Little Italy).

If you're a backpacker, this is going to be out of your range. And if you're one of those people that needs a Hilton or a Hyatt, you're not going to be happy. But if you can afford the price and don't need a fancy name, this place is great.

Location definitely. It is along Gaya street. Full with eateries and restaurants. Do spend a weekend here for the night markets and Sunday morning market. Beds are ok. Hotel is dated but well maintained. Friendly and helpful staffs. Wish it had more pillows in the room.

Limited parking and KK parking system is different as the rate per hour is depending on the zones. Buy the parking coupons at Orange mart just next door.

very good. comfortable room n bed. very spacious, clean bathroom. staff very friendly and helpful. need to go back to airport as early as 3 am. they booked for us a texi and offer for wake up call. easy to get food-kopi ping next door, Api2 night food market just along the road. pasar filiphine 1km walking distance.

The hotel room is clean, although it's worn out. A good location where it is accessible to malls and eateries.

The hotel pillows are too thin. The drainage at the shower didn't work, which caused blockage. We called for maintenance and was told to open the cover of the drainage.

receptionist is very helpful. housekeeping very good. hotel within walking distance to city centre and waterfront. a lot of conveniences nearby ie restaurants, atm, shopping complex, clinics, pharmacies, 24hr store

limited tv channels room lighting was a bit gloomy. could use mix lighting of warm & cool white for more vibes

The room was big, bed was comfy, excellent location within the city centre, great food around the area. Easy access to jetty, shopping malls, weekend night market, Sunday morning market. Recommended to stay on higher floor.

Just a small problem, the drainage of the sink seem slow, looks like blocked on the drain pipe, do check on it.

Booked the hotel as pickup point for Mount Kinabalu organized trek. Quite comfortable, clean and spacious room with good WiFi connection. Location is convenient, close to seafront walk and lot of eateries. Reception personnel was extremely kind, helpful and professional. Also an excellent option for relaxing after the climb! Recommended!
