the staff were friendly and helpful. the rooftop pool area was great to relax at. the little restaurant bar was a wonderful spot to watch the sunset. food was good and reasonably priced. staff were very friendly.

the beds were very hard.

There was coffee every morning, in the lobby, and consistently very good. There was 18 litre jugs of bottled water, on every floor, safe to drink, so convenient. The front desk staff, and cleaning staff were friendly and very helpful. My husband was given 2 extra pillows when he asked. The rooftop pool and large patio area with lounge chairs and umbrellas was really incredibly nice. 2 small washrooms by the pool also. The beach and swimming at the beach was a close 5 min walk.

I love everything about this place. This was my second stay here. It's literally around the corner from the malecon and the beach, and steps away from the markets, as well as tons of shops and restaurants. Nighttime is quiet on this street along the river (not much traffic, no roosters, no barking dogs), beds are comfy, purified water on every floor, and free coffee in the morning. The rooftop pool area is beautiful. All staff are super nice, and most have at least a little English. When stuck, there's always Google translate! I switched rooms because I extended my stay, and both rooms were great (spacious, dark window coverings, balcony, seats in the room)! If I come back to Puerto Vallarta, I will definitely choose Hotel Encino again.

Great basic hotel, 2 blocks from malecon - ocean side promenade. The hotel has an authentic ambiance to it which I love. There is a pool and the bar on the roof, which is nice. Considering central location, our room - facing inner court - was very quiet at night. This was surprising to me, since the window had wooden shutters but no glass. I expected much worse noise at night and was pleasantly surprised. Bathroom was remodeled - nice and modern.

The beds are coil mattresses, that feel like sleeping on a hard board. Not that I didn't like it - for both myself and my daughter it was not a problem, but it can be a problem if one is used to sleeping on a soft mattress.

The location was perfect - close to the malecon, less than 5 minutes to the beach, but a few streets away from all the noise of romantic zone. The river gives a peaceful view from the balcony that I had. Bed was big and comfortable. They provide filtered water in a large jug in the hallway so you don't have to buy gallons to bring back to your room.

The pool was very dirty, cloudy, you could not see through the water. But nonetheless, myself and others still swam because the view was beautiful up there.

I was going to rate it 8 instead of 10 due to the pool not working during our stay. But it was being remodeled or something so I guess it's not their fault I booked while it being repaired/remodeled.. the location was absolutely amazing, everything (beach, malecon, Puerto Vallarta letters, El muelle) was super close.great staff and unbelievable/unbeatable low prices.. I liked how the hotel looked inside,garden type. The restaurant upstairs was good to have also (a bit pricy but good) Overall it was great and would definitely recommend.. perfect place, perfect location, Great staff.

Pool not being in service while stay.. also i think it would be great if each room had atleast a small fridge. Being so damn hot there all the time you would buy a drink and literally mins later it was hot...

The location is really good, next to the Cualle River. I liked the low price, it allowed me to spend more money on food, purchases and adventures. Fresh linens everyday was a treat. The pool area was wonderful, great view and comfortable seating. Beautiful old hotel with many flowers, lovely places to sit and relax. Nice resturant on 4th floor.

Bathroom needs updating. A small refridgerator would be nice. Water not always hot .

The hotel is a lovely old building with an attractive lobby/arium. The room was fairly large. It has a nice roof top pool and sun deck ss well as a restaurant that opens later in the afternoon

The bathroom was cramped and dated. There was some rust and peeling paint. The atrium carries sound so it can be noisy in your room.

Nice and Quiet. Location is near perfect. Just a min walk from the main plaza where food, music, and celebration happen nightly but just far enough that you can sleep well in quiet as the parties nearby go into the night. Value is great.

Rooms a tad small but lightyears ahead of hostels. As a couple this was a cheap, quiet, secure, mostly cleanish, place to stay.

Quaint older style hotel very close to everything in the Zona Romantica. Not a fancy place to stay but clean, friendly and close to everything

no fridge in the rooms.
