All of the pictures I've seen don't come close to showing how beautiful this property is. We had 2 rooms: a suite for my young adult sons and a king for me and my husband. Both were clean, comfortable and had amazing views. Our upstairs room had a large terrace that looked out over the water, and our sons' suite opened right onto the beach. Breakfast was good, and they packed brown bag breakfasts for us when we had tours that left early. Several restaurants are within a 5 minute walk. It was recommended that we get a rental car, and I have to agree that it's the best option if you plan to go into Tulum. There is lots of parking, and we always felt safe and cared for.

We enjoyed the breakfasts delivered to our room. The main selection varied each day, was always delicious and was accompanied by flavorful fruit, bread and juice! The trays were presented so beautifully that I usually photographed them. Beautiful views all around. Enjoyed being away from the large hotels. We appreciated all the suggestions Melissa gave us; she was a superb hostess. We really loved meeting the dogs! And Nancy was kind enough to tell us about the concept for and the origin of Casa Colibri.

We loved Casa Colibri and can’t imagine it being any better!

Everything. The location of Casa Colibri Tankah is not as central as right in the town of Tulum. However, you aren't far from town or ruins. You are quite a ways from Zona Hotelera. Best of all Casa Colibri is right on the beach. It's such a win especially when the sun is beaming and that sea breeze is blowing. Melisa, her mom and her staff were such a delight to interact with. Melisa was also very helpful with suggestions and arranging cabs for me. They were also very transparent about the power and water - the rain and wind took out the power of the area on my first night. The complimentary breakfasts? So delicious and just what you need to get the morning started, especially before a full day of just laying in a hammock.

The only downer was the weather and that is no one's fault but nature's. I can't complain, I got three days of sun and two of rain during my stay. I'd say those are good ratios for booking so close to hurricane season.

The property is beautiful; comfortable, clean and very modern. The pictures do not do it justice. It is located on a private beach with sun loungers, chairs, body boards and Kayaks provided. Everything was in pristine condition. The hosts (Nancy & Melisa) live on the property and their management is superb. They are both lovely women, kind and very generous of their time. We were served a very tasty breakfast in our apartment each morning. I really couldn't find any fault with this property. You do need a car - we had one so not an issue. The property is 10-15mins drive from Tulum. This suited us very well as we found Tulum very busy and touristy, we loved the tranquility of Tankah Bay.

Limited restaurants within walking distance and relatively over priced. However it is a short drive into Tulum.

The location on the beach was amazing and the lush greenery was just beautiful. I loved all the plants and palm trees around the property, and the gardener did a nice job with upkeep. The housekeeper was a gem. The room was a perfect size, the bed was great, as were the other amenities such as a mini fridge, coffee maker, huge water dispenser, plenty of towels, and I loved the Persian window blinds. The patio was just wonderful and had two sun beds, a lounger, and two chairs with a table. The breakfasts were amazingly delicious and home cooked every morning and Melisa was so incredibly kind to accommodate my vegan diet. Every day was something new, delicious, authentic, and bursting with flavors, plus the fresh fruits and fresh fruit juice were an added bonus. Melisa's mom was also so warm and welcoming. Both such wonderful women. I felt right at home at this property, especially with the cats and dog! I can't say enough good things about Casa Colibrí!!! Can't wait to come back. :)

Absolutely nothing not to like, but be advised that you need to either rent a car (which I did, because I like to be able to go wherever whenever!) or be prepared to use a shuttle or taxi daily. I opted to stay here away from the hotel zone in Tulum because I was looking for peace and quiet, not a party.

Beautiful location. It is very peaceful and secluded and a great place to relax and unwind. Melissa and Nancy were very welcoming, and breakfast was served in our room every morning. Great view from our balcony and comfortabe loungers. . Lovely shower and rooms cleaned daily.

Access to the sea is very rocky and you have to walk along the pier (owned by the neighbouring restaurant) to take a dip as too rocky otherwise. This was a real disappointment if I'm honest. Also no refreshments available at the property. The air conditioning could have been more effective.

If you want to experience the nature and tranquility of Tulum without the party scene, this sliver of paradise is for you. I wish I could have stayed longer. It was so nice to wake up to a delicious healthy homemade breakfast and walk out on the dock to swing on hammocks. It’s quiet and private and beautiful. Our first night we sat outside on the beach and gazed at the stars! This is a magical place.

The beds could have been more comfortable. Also remember that you’re in the jungle so there are little critters that are unavoidable.

Beautiful location, superb well kept grounds, fabulous room with good size fridge & freezer, coffee machine & great shower room. Breakfast brought to your room each morning was always delicious. Snorkelling was possible right across the bay and courtesy kayaking & paddle boarding kept us busy. And thankfully enough shade & sun at all times to suit the tastes of my Irish red head complexion & my partners sun loving! Thanks so much Melissa and Nancy.

We picked this location because we wanted rest away from hustle & bustle with a peaceful beach. The negative to this are the taxi fares - US$50 round trip into Tulum. Hiring a car was a better option to ensure we got to see ruins on a day trip out midweek.

This is THE best place to stay in this part of Tulum beach. It is very, very quiet and serene yet only a 15 minute drive to town. We ate at several of the other hotels in this area, and were always excited to return to Casa Calibri. Other hotels give you a standard room that opens to a hallway. Not Casa Colibri. Here, your room will open right to the beach, which is filled with palm trees, hammocks, shade, sun, lounge chairs, the OCEAN and most of all calm and relaxation. We watched the sunrise from our porch every day. I read three books in four days, all while hearing nothing but the ocean and the breeze. Also, great breakfast. You will have an option for breakfast to be delivered at 8:30, 9:00 or 9:30 and Melisa is always right on time. The rooms come with fresh water, a fridge/freezer, plates and bowls, silverware, cups, bottle opener/cork screw, and coffee/coffee cups. The rooms are cleaned daily and they do a great job. Each room has an air conditioner, however we preferred to open the blinds and run the ceiling fan. A tip for lunch/dinner: either bring food and cook, or walk to one of the 4+ restaurants nearby. We typically snacked on our own food for lunch and then walked to dinner. Of all of the restaurants nearby, we recommend Hotel Altamar (RIGHT next door, serves lunch and dinner on the water) and Mereva Tulum (good food but no beach view). Prices are higher than in town, but still very manageable for eating right on the beach. WiFi was great in your room/patio and there are "house" cats and dogs that will great you throughout the day. Wonderful stay.

The access road was very treacherous! We were very glad we had an SUV. Also, our bed was smaller than a queen... maybe a full?

Amazing location, right on the beach ( beautiful sunrises) and quiet . The Pier, right in front the Hotel was our 3rd living room :), the hammocks our second without mentionning the beautiful wooden deckchairs in front of our room! Melissa and Nancy are truly welcoming persons who pay attention to the clients needs. A plus ++++: the kayaks are at the free disposal of the clients ! We took advantage of that every day and just loved it!

We loved everyting.! ..We could mention - if it is to improve something that the room would be even better with a little bit of mexican decoration on the walls and a nice arm chair instead of the big cushion pouf. The bathroom is perfect!
