Convenient to find (even in the evening). Cozy atmosphere and atmosphere, we were greeted by a cool guy (cheerful and friendly), the carriage was clean, and the toilet and shower too, by the way. It was comfortable to sleep! They poured us hot water and helped us with any questions.
There was not enough general light, the lamp was dim and when the weather turned cold, the air conditioner also blew cold. Sleeping in the cold is great, but changing clothes is not so great, but we later read that we could ask the staff for help with this. So if you are cold, go see the staff :)

Location - by the main station outside of Amsterdam but NOT noisy at all. Staff were great, cannot fault them at all and reception is 24hrs. There are facilities to eat your own food, you could leave a couple of bits in their fridge, borrow plates/cutlery etc, make your own hot drinks. Really great. The breakfast did look good but we didn’t avail of it ourselves. You can buy beer/wine to drink in the dining carriage or on the outdoor patio, too. Rooms were quirky and fun as something a bit different.
Obviously, being old train sleeping berths they ARE very tiny, we had 2 together so the dividing wall was opened to make a larger area but space was really tight for 6 people. Separate shower room and toilets in each carriage so it just meant you had to be patient, but also that people were walking to and fro past the berths a lot. 2 nights everyone was very considerate, final night a small group were not and constantly talked loudly in the corridor/slammed doors till late then again from 5am. Luck of the draw who you get. You have to get the staff to lock your room when you leave and open up for you as berths use original door locks, just a bit annoying for them.

Perfect location, 3 minute walk to train station, nice and quiet, really enjoyed the odd rumble of trains passing. A couple of the showers are tiny and look awful, however, next to them there are huge showers that are really hot and powerful. The place was constantly being cleaned, the bedding was clean, beds were wider than expected for on a train and they were super comfy. The room was perfect temperature. No room to swing a cat but it didn't affect us at all. We had a carry on bag each so could store them easily behind the ladder or next to the top bunk. The staff were all friendly. Loads of room to sit out. Would have liked a fire but it was a bit chilly and rainy. Only had to wait 2 minutes for one train, they are really regular and get into Central Amsterdam in about 10 minutes or back to the airport in about 20. Loved this place.
The only think I can think of was they didn't have oat milk and I'm lactose intolerant so couldn't get a brew. Coffee shop next door had it though and they let you store your own food on the train so I could have bought some if I really wanted to. The safety ropes were confusing as we couldn't quite get them to fit, again, not really an issue. We made do and no one fell out. If we were that bothered we could have asked staff to sort it. My hair straighteners wouldn't work properly with the plug adapters so couldn't use them. That is the only thing I can think of that had an impact on my stay. It was brilliant! Well worth the money, would definitely go back again.

Right next door to the train station which costs a few euro and only 5mins to Dam Centraal. Lovely outside area that hosted a wide range of guests of all walks of life, nice to sit out talking til late. The cabins are cosy and clean and suited our needs. The bathrooms were clean with products available from past travellers (in a neatly stored box by reception) if you have forgotten anything. Staff super friendly and helpful.
No ability to lock own room - not necessarily an issue but just to make aware, the staff are the only ones in possession of the key (traditional train carriage key!) Extra pillow needed - again not an issue. Just grabbed one from the top bunk

We loved everything! We had lovely vacations my brother (18y.o) & I (23 y.o) at the Train Lodge. Really comfortable, gooood sleep and chilling + feeling super safe and welcome + everyone working there is charming + excellent placement in the city + they are, for real, not a marketing stuff or whatever, "Absolutely-Everyone-Including-of course-LGBTI-People-Friendly" + perfect place to go in Amsterdam with your family OR your friends OR your date ; whatever your age + Bonus : concept of being in an ancient train! & the cutest decoration! I mean, it's actually a real train lol
Honnestly : nothing at all

Staying in an old sleeper train is definitely an experience! Was worried that the smallish beds may not be comfortable as I have a bad back, but slept there as good as I do at home :) I really wanted the top bunk bed and the staff were happy to swap my assigned bed - I appreciate them doing that since they didn't have to!
More cushioned seating like a beanbag or a small couch would have been great but understandably it's a difficult feat to pull off given space constraints! Also wish there were sockets for the top bunk beds but other than that there were plenty of sockets in the room and shared spaces.

located close to railway station and on the line from airport to city centre. The novelty of staying on a train appealed to us. Place was great, had a small bar and catered for all our needs. There is a decent breakfast cafe right next door that does top quality pancakes or full english breakfast and coffees. Staff were friendly and place was clean. It was warm and cosy and the water and showers was always hot.
We had 3 of us in our cabin in a triple bunk cabin so it was tight but that is par for the course i suppose - we were on a stationary train. Sockets - 2 in the cabin in a double socket and the time you put your adapter in you lost one so we were a little restricted in chargers. There are lots of sockets in the bar carriage though for laptops and phones.

Staff were really lovely and always available to help! The location is fab for getting into town, really quiet considering it was by the station. The reception/sitting area was so welcoming and really homely, it was a very chilled place to be. Great value for money and the coffee is incredible!
The rooms are smaller than expected and with 3 people sharing such a small space it was always very hot! Staff did their best to help to solve the issue although it was always warmer than it needed to be, the beds are comfortable but they aren't full size so if you're taller it may be a struggle.

Accommodation in Amsterdam is pretty expensive so this place offered great value and it's so unique too! Very easy to get to from the airport and only one stop on the train (the station is right next door) to the city centre. You can watch the trains going past from your bed - wasn't noisy at all. The carriage compartments are pretty small and you can hear the rooms next door quite easily, but it's the novelty of sleeping on a train that you stay here for. We had 3 bunks in the room - the top bunk is extremely high so not recommended for young kids. The communal areas are nice with a bar, an outside patio, and an area with games and books. The staff were friendly and my daughter enjoyed the complimentary lollipops! We only stayed here for one night but my 7 year old daughter absolutely loved it and we had lots of fun. This is such a cool place to stay!
Rooms are very small and a bit of a squash and walls are thin so could hear talking from next door. Shared toilets and showers, which I don't usually like and are a bit tricky with a child, but it was manageable for one night.

The rooms were clean, and well isolated from sounds of the nearby railstation. Ir is _very_ close to the regional rail station, so you will be in the city center within ~15 min. The staff was very friendly and all amaneties I needed were available (fridge, Microwave, Oven, cultlery and dishes, Bathroom, Shower). The interior is kept original in a lot of parts but upgraded to modern standards (good AC, enough outlets for example). The decorations were nice and the vibe generally awsone.
The Toilets were clogged quite easily one time I had to check three before I found one that wasn't clogged. I suspect this is also connected to how the guests use them (it is very easy to flush insufficiently there), so not entirely the facilities fault. The showers could be a bit cleaner, but it was still fine. The rooms are small and there is not a lot of room for luggage. If everyone in my room would have had as much with them as I did, we would not have found space for it. This is also just because it is an old sleeper train. Nothing could reasonably be done about it, but I thought it would still be good to mention in cass someone has a lot of stuff with them.
