I really enjoyed staying at this hostel during my time in Auckland. It was convenient to get to from the airport by the transport bus, to stroll into the centre and the main sites - about 15 minutes walk - and to get to pickup locations for tours. The hostel itself has 24 hour check in with digital check in and a staff member most of the time. The whole bottom floor is an open plan communal area with different seating areas where I saw people working on laptops, reading and just chilling, as well as a large kitchen area with lots of space (shelves and fridges) to store food and cook for yourself. There was always a good handful of people around even though we were heading into winter and off season and from walking in the door there was a friendly, welcoming vibe. There was also an attached bar area where you could go and chill on sofas or sit in bar stools - the food there was phenomenal and the coffee was also fantastic. Recommend trying it out if you stay here! The rooms are pods with a little slidey door on each pod. There were lights and charging areas within each one and a large bag storage cabinet per bed which was linked to your room card. I was in the 12 bed dorm and found that there was lots of space, it was quiet and peaceful and clean. Beds were comfy and spacious coming with linen etc. The staff members I saw were friendly and helpful adding to the lovely vibe of the place. The bathrooms were communal on each floor - it did take a little bit of time to find it the first time as it is built a little maze esk with lots of corridors but it is well signposted and great quality when you get there - there were more than enough showers all kept clean and presentable so no waiting and no ickyness either. Really enjoyed staying here, I would stay again in an instant and recommend to others as well.

It was one if the best hostels I ever stayed at. The pods are big and comfortable and you can really close them. That way you don’t really hear a lot from others in the room. The bathrooms were spacious and the interior everywhere was nice. The whole atmosphere was really open so it was easy to meet new people, especially in the kitchen area. The location was great as well.

The kitchen didn’t have any kitchen gear like mixers or stuff like that. There was one Airfryer but at least one oven would have been nice. And in the showers there weren’t a lot of opportunities to put your clothes and the rags that are there could use a good cleaning.

Great hostel, really loved my stay here. Especially the modern style and the amazing stuff I appreciated. Furthermore the day trips organized by Dajana werr fun and a great way to connect with others as well as see the sights.

I like the facilities on the first floor where the bar is, the tables, the kitchen, the sofas…

The kitchen closes from 10pm to 6am in the morning which is very early. The rooms (capsules) do not have air conditioning. The fan inside is too loud. The pans are old and not non-stick. The refrigerator does not cool enough and the food is spoiled. There is no freezer for the food that comes frozen from the supermarket. The microwave does not work properly, it is always 5 minutes away, that is why it is so dirty because all the food is overcooked and spills. Should be more activities who elves socialising with the rest of the people

Everything. :) Lylo is a type of hostel that you will have a hard time leaving. It is designed very thoughtful with backpackers needs in mind but can accommodate families as well. You’ve got a large kitchen with multiple cooking stoves, big fridges and cubbies to store your food. You have plenty of communal space for bigger groups or just to hang out by yourself and work in silence. There is also a very vibrant bar that is part of Lylo which serves as perfect opportunity to meet fellow backpackers. 11/10 for the whole experience, I loved everything about Lylo, will definitely recommend it to friends and family and would recommend to basically anyone looking for a decent hostel in Auckland.

Pods were very private and comfortable. Lots of storage pockets as well as light, power sockets and a mirror! Bathrooms were some of the best I have seen in hostels! Always very clean and plenty of space. Kitchen was also generally clean and large enough to cook sufficiently.

Pods do get very hot at night even though it wasn't summer at the time. There is a small fan in each pod but this doesn't really seem to do much! Limited floor space in the room for large luggage. Didn't feel overly social but good if you need somewhere for a good nights sleep.

Very large and modern hostel that feels comfortable and spacious to walk around in. Staff are helpful and welcoming. The bedroom was large with a comfortable double bed, TV, sink in the bedroom with a table around it, and en-suite bathroom with toilet and shower. Towels were provided. Very clean overall too. There is a large chill out area and plenty of books and board games. The hostel is very close to the Sky Tower and 20-30 min walk down to the harbour. Day trips and tours can be arranged at the tour desk downstairs.

There is a large bar/restaurant downstairs but it’s not that well reviewed for food.

We stayed in an interior en suite room without windows but this was fine as we were only using it for sleeping and also meant no sunlight to wake us up so was able to get a good rest. Bed was very comfortable. Room was very modern. Would definitely stay again. We were on the first floor and worried might get woken up by noise from the bar/restaurant below but this wasn’t a problem at all, the rooms must have a decent degree of soundproofing.

Check in was a bit annoying, was unable to use fast check-in machines as we are international visitors, so had to join the long queue waiting to check in at 3pm.

I like the concept of pods. They give the guests privacy. I liked that the detergent was included in the price of the laundry. There are some nice communal areas like the Outlook and the Ms Lucy's bar where LyLo guests get 10% off food and drinks.

As opposed to LyLo Brisbane, this hostel doesn't give towels for free. It's also not the best that there are no windows in the rooms. It wasn't a dealbreaker, and the ventilation is good enough, but - again - LyLo Brisbane was better from this point of view. Overall, while the pods make the hostel experience much better than hanging out in the same room with others without any privacy, this hostel is rather pricey for what it offers. At some point (because I kept returning to this hostel for two weeks) I paid 270 dollars for three nights.

What wasn’t there to like?! The individual pods were so cool with everything you needed; plugs, pockets to put your items in, a light, a mirror and best of all you could slide the door for complete privacy. Huge lockers allocated to your pod number big enough to fit suitcases inside. The 1st floor bathroom was very aesthetically pleasing and Instagram worthy!! Kitchen was always clean and I noticed staff in there quite regularly wiping down the surfaces which was nice so the mess didn’t build up like in other hostels. The bar and cafe/restaurant downstairs was also nice and always had events going on. Discount for hostel guests too!

Honestly nothing I would come back in a heartbeat!
