The uniform in tune with the era of the hotel as if you are in a movie set. it was unique. The staff were excellent mostly. Music everwhere, light piano at breakfast, welcome drink with FADO music. The spa room lovely unique for a city Hotel. We had a massage with Yavary, she was excellent.

There need to be more safety rules or notice around the numerous stair cases in the hotel. The stairs can be dangerous. My wife had a nasty fall on the stairs although the staff were nice but there was no medical assistance given and no incident report was done.

This is a very special place, we enjoyed the ambiance of the place, its location in a central part of town all sights within walking distance (the famus tram has a station right next to the lobby), its generosity as offering free wine and cheese in the afternoon, a breakfast second to none, a garden to sit in, reception staff offering tourist information for you and finaly no traffic to disturb you (garden room).

The rooms are not sound proof, during their fado evening you will be able to enjoy it from your bed (if you like fado) but this mean you will hear other guests and the resturant setting up breakfast and the washing of dishes. But it did not mean to much to us as the place is a very special place. If you choose the small twin it is as its name small, think a boat cabin just ok for a weekend. As it is cramped I found it overpriced.

Palacio das Especiarias has an excellent location near all major attractions or just a quick UBER drive to any of them. There are plenty of restaurants and bars nearby as well as a lot of entertainment. Breakfast was fabulous and varied. The staff is really nice and helpful. I loved the sound of the piano and at times a duo with a violin while having breakfast.

The room/bathroom was a bit small and there is not much storage space. There are a lot of stairs to go from floor to floor as the elevator is tiny and not too practical. It was not a problem for us yet it could be for certain guests.

We had a wonderful 5-night stay at Palacio das Especiarias. The hotel is absolutely glamorous, with luxurious and elegant interiors that make you feel like you're in a 16th-century palace. The location is perfect, right on the edge of the Bairro Alto quarter, surrounded by great bars and restaurants, and close to a shopping area. It’s an ideal starting point for exploring Lisbon on foot. The breakfast was a highlight—served in two charming dining rooms, accompanied by a live singer and pianist who created a lovely ambiance. The food was delicious and generously offered. We also loved the cozy and warm atmosphere of the common areas. One unique feature is the basement with its three barrels of wine. After a long day of walking, being able to pour a glass of wine for yourself and relax while listening to Fado music was such a special touch.

The only downside was that the room was relatively small, but it didn’t take away from our overall enjoyment of the stay.

I have stayed here several times and love the property. They have a wonderful breakfast and have added wine & cheese at happy hour. The place is full of antiques giving the guest a very authentic Lisboa experience.

I got a bad room this time. I did not like that the bathroom was converted from a closet and the sink had to be in the room. It was very inconvenient especially since the light for the bathroom turned on a bright light in the room. Also the door to the bathroom did not close completely. Last, this property has no frequent stayers program to give any preference to returnees.

Decor was excellent, hotel was clean. The free wine available in the cellar room was a great touch. Room was comfortable and shower pressure/temperature was good. Location was perfect for us.

Would have been nice to be shown around the properly on arrival and told about the breakfast arrangements/layout. We sat at a table on day one and ate cake and cereal as these were the only choices obvious to us. The rest of the breakfast selection was spread across a further 3 rooms. Breakfast was also not hot enough.

Everything from breakfast to the cleanliness of the rooms and all amenities was fantastic. The live music during breakfast was such a treat. They included complimentary water. They were super generous with everything from towels and robes to treats, wine and tea being available at all times. A super great central location, yummy breakfast and very kind staff. Would 100% recommend!

My only thing would be to ensure all dressers in the rooms smell nice, and also the scents in the hallways are a bit strong so I hope they are natural and not fake synthetic smells. however this did not ruin our stay at all and I would definitely return.

The staff went above and beyond. The location is perfect and the sound of piano through the day was charming.

Would’ve liked a Bloody Mary to drink. The sauna wasn’t hot enough. The photos of the rooms only show the biggest ones so that was a little misleading. Otherwise everything was great.

The public rooms were classy and stylish. Some of the things were quirky like the Chapel off the breakfast room and the quite scary 'Fado theatre' in the cellar (next to the well fitted out gym and barrels of free wine!) Beautiful garden and a great library area for writing. great central Chiado location - I walked there and back to most places.

The rooms and the corridors were not finished to the same standard as public rooms. Although workmanships was good furniture was naff - there wasn't enough money spent in my opinion. A good designer might have helped. Piano and Violin music for breakfast was great but loud. I heard it from three floors up!

The Palacio Das Especiarias is a lovely, elegant place to land after a long day of travel and/or sight seeing. The hotel is beautifully decorated and filled with history, my room was so comfortable and quiet. Breakfast was plentiful, varied and delicious with a vast variety of both cold and hot foods, accompanied by live music. The location could not have been better, just a short walk to restaurants, shops and the liveliness of fellow travellers. The staff were friendly and so accommodating. The Fado evening should not be missed especially if Carla Pires is performing. She is mesmerising!
