The place is just a 10 min downhill walk to the city centre. The hotel is quite stylish and the owners (along with their 2 cats) are very nice. Rooms have high ornate ceilings. The beds were quite comfortable. There are wine bottles available in the hotel at very reasonable rates. The breakfast was not exceptionally large but sufficient and tasty. They have a nice garden at the back with a swing and slide for the kids. All in all, great value for money.

It's a 10 min uphill walk while coming back to the hotel. So public transportation is needed, which then is a key point since the buses are not too frequent or do not go to the city centre. The room toilet was very small with no lock. Being an old building, there is no lift in the hotel (we were lucky to have a room on the first floor). There was also no physical door for the part of the bathroom and the main room, only a curtain.

I was a bit undecided whether to put 8 or 9 for the rating, but decided on 9 because it was better than I generally expect from places with an average of 8.5 on booking.com. We just needed somewhere to stay with our two small children for one night in walking distance from our transport arrival and departure points, and for our purposes this place was perfect. The big garden was an amazing bonus, and we managed to spend quite a bit of time there even though it was raining. The staff on reception were friendly, and the one who was there when we arrived helped carry our bags to the top floor, which was much appreciated. I was glad I hadn't let a couple of comments from Google reviews put me off, because neither of them applied to our stay. One of those was about a nightclub across the road - we stayed on a Sunday night, which probably wasn't a nightclub night, and anyway we weren't on the road side of the building. In fact it was so quiet in the night that I could scarcely believe we were in a city. And the other was about a bed sagging in the middle, but our beds were all singles and very pleasantly firm, not the least bit saggy. They may well have replaced all the mattresses since that review, as the mattresses I saw through the doorways of other unoccupied rooms also looked fairly new. We would happily stay here again if we needed somewhere in this area of Porto.

Beautiful old house with a few rooms and a lovely garden behind. The breakfast was excellent. We had a room in the front which meant some noise from the street, but we did not mind. We also liked more the fan than air condition in most hotels. The staff was very friendly and helpful and a special bonus for the three cats living in there.

We did not understand in beforehand that this place is a little bit far from the centre. On the other hand it also meant less tourists around and small restaurants which the locals also visited.

A beautiful building with a cool tower behind it; the tower is the Belvedere of the city, you can see everything from this amazing view point. The staff was super accommodating. The electric key access is nice.

The parking situation is rough. You can park for free on the street overnight until 9 if you can find a spot; there’s also a lot 100 meters up there street that’s 10$ all day but not unlimited exits and entries.

We wish we could stay longer. The room was nice and the view was perfect. We stayed in the room in the gardon, total quiet and nice decoration with stone wall. The breakfast room was also nice and gorgeous, but they didn't start breakfast service yet when we came. Would definitely come back during summer to enjoy the garden. Furthermore, the staff was so kind that she offered us the water bottle as we didn't have 2€ cash for it. She was kind and sympathic.

The location is 10 from downtown (rue Santa Catarina), but considering other downtown hotel with the same price range, this is definitely a better choice. Its facilities worth 5m more of walking!

The room was newly furbished and comfortable, big enough, with comfortable beds (albeit quite soft). The location is close enough to gst to the city center by foot, and very close to the nice Bolhao district. But yeah you need to go uphill a little bit, so not everybody might be ok with it. Very calm, enjoyed our stay. Good price/quality, very good to visit the city, without too many frills, but nice and practical.

No breakfast service at all (during winter?), but you can get nice pastries in St Catarina street. I would have loved to have the kettle in the room, to avoid going outside and to the reception at night with cold and rain.. The owners are a bit cold. Had to pay the city tax separately, cash only. It's 2022, time to go digital and forget about cash. Also maybe have me pay in one shot, not tow separate occasions.

The accommodation was in real time better then it’s looks on the pictures: The rooms and garden are bigger and more beautiful, and the hallway and stairs are really nice too. Breakfast is very good And staff are friendly. The rooms are very silent and clean. We had a good time at the hotel!

A bit further away from the centre but in a relatively quiet road. Appropriate room. Adequately priced nice breakfast (with a relatively wide range of food, including fruit!). Marvellous garden: it was nice to have the breakfast or at least the coffee outside. Helpful staff (e.g. printing my boarding pass). Value for money.

No airconditioner.

The staff was super accommodating and friendly. The garden of the hotel is absolutely gorgeous! We were unlucky with the weather but still thoroughly enjoyed it. The breakfast was exceptional and the location is walking distance to the city center.

Nice staff, clean and cozy place, very decent breakfast.

There is some kind of party place just oposite the property. The youngsters start partying at midnight and probably get kicked out around 5am - then continue on the street. This happened 4 nights out of five, including week days. Pretty unbearable for someone with a light sleep.
