What a super place! The welcome, owners and staff were all lovely, very friendly, and both dinner and breakfast of a very high quality. The room was comfortable with everything I needed, and the whole ambiance cosy, with a traditional bar too. The location is amazing, with sweeping views across Derwent Water and the North Pennines, and if you're looking for somewhere to base yourself to tour Hadrian's Wall, Durham, Newcastle, Hexham, and the stunning scenery of the Tees Valley and Northumberland - you will struggle to find a better place.

The staff were very welcoming and friendly. The menu, although limited, was very good. The breakfasts were excellent and varied. The craic in the bar in the evening was inclusive and entertaining. Close to Durham, Hadrian's Wall, Jedburgh and the North East as a whole.

The only blot on the stay was the weather - which was very blustery and the hotel has a rather exposed position on a ridge. Other than that, an excellent base for exploring the north east of England.

A great place to stay with lovely staff throughout our visit. We had a good evening meal in the bar that has great views over Derwent reservoir. The room was a good size as was the bathroom. The room also had views of the reservoir. We stayed here on the second day touring the Northumberland 250, Good location on the main road with lots of secure parking. A big thank you to the lady doing the breakfast who went above and beyond to make our stay spot on.

Nothing all good.

The staff were extremely friendly. Within minutes of walking through the door, the 2 ladies running the bar, the chef and the locals were very welcoming. The food was excellent too, big portions and good value. My room was plenty big enough for me, the bed was comfy and the shower was great.

I would have rather been at the back of the property so that I didn't hear the cars on the main road. I am a light sleeper so I woke up quite a lot throughout the night.

Our room was comfortable and warm, which was appreciated after getting soaked through whilst walking. We had dinner in the restaurant and there was a good choice of food and reasonably priced. We had good service and the food was very nice.

The shower wasn't the greatest - not much power. It was noisy from doors banging as people went in and out below and from other rooms around us. This didn't continue too late so didn't disturb sleep. Probably can't be helped in a busy pub.

Excellent location, fantastic views from Room 3. Comfy bed, great shower & plenty of tea coffee etc. Natasha, David and the team were friendly, chatty hosts, nothing too much trouble. We ate in the pub in the evening, great choice, good portion size excellent value for money. Breakfast was exceptional. Dog friendly for our 2, we would definitely recommend and return.

The fact we couldn't stay another night!

The location is fantastic - great views of the superb countryside ( and swifts nesting ). Dinner was excellent - good choice and interesting - not the usual pub fare. Breakfast was delicious - whatever you wanted - Full English is to be recommended though. The room had spectacular views. Brilliant strong shower. Great night's sleep after a long day's drive. The staff were all so friendly and helpful.

Nothing.

We loved the dinner and breakfast - absolutely flawless and great value for money. All of the staff were wonderful and helped give us tips for our day. The chef was great, very friendly and lovely food. The room was clean and had everything we needed. Great stay!

The sound travels very easily between bedrooms and we found it hard to fall asleep with the noise from other rooms. We loved the bnb otherwise and I’m not sure what can be done about it!

Beautiful views and welcoming, friendly owners on hand and nothing was too much trouble. Even stayed with us until an ambulance arrived at around 2am! Breakfast was great and though we didn't eat in restaurant the food looked amazing.

We stayed on a Monday and bar/restaurant closes on a monday so could not get food or drink. Unfortunately we had been up all night in A & E so had to drive out to eat. The owners did ask us if we needed any shopping though as they knew what had happened and we were aware of the monday closing beforehand.
