Hotel is lovely. Small grounds for a country house but certainly very well appointed and maintained. Excellent parking facilities. Plenty of space. Rooms were very clean and well presented. Very good facilities and an attractive place. I would certainly stay again.
The food I ordered (main course) could have been better (it was bland) but that's only subjective. The desert was lovely. The toilet brush in my bathroom was filthy from previous user. A lot of noise from the room above me during the night (it was a family with children - rearranging the furniture for an hour until half eleven) so didn't get the early night I wanted but that's the joy of hotels - certainly not the hotels fault. The breakfast I had was not cooked fresh. The bacon had been around a while.

The staff couldn't do enough to help us - my wife had a migraine on our day of arrival and they allowed us to check in 4-hours early so she could sleep through it. This act of kindness and empathy saved our short weekend break. Throughout the stay we were asked how she was doing - again above and beyond, the personal touch. The location, with its commanding views across Penrith to the Lakeland Fells, quietly rural yet close proximity to. Penrith. We had a self catering apartment, which was perfect for the two nights we stayed. Options to dine on site, or go into Penrith. Having the two rooms (living room/kitchen & bedroom) gave us space when we needed it, particularly the first day with the migraine.
There was nothing not to like.

The hotel building and its environs were most pleasant. Check-in was dealt with promptly. The room was very clean and comfortable. The outside sitting areas were lovely, especially in the fine weather which prevailed during my short visit.
I had to wait several minutes to be dealt with at my first breakfast in the hotel despite the fact that a member of staff went to and fro a couple of times at a nearby table. A similar situation arose at my only evening meal during my stay although an apology was made this time. Whilst my room was clean and comfortable, the shower room was very small with little shelf space for my toiletries. The shower floor (non-slip?) was slightly slippery. It was only on departing that I noticed an EV charge-point behind a bush. I am not sure if this was for guest use but I would have used it if I had known about it.

The hotel is a beautiful building and the rooms are well appointed with the original features, clean, roomy and comfy. The setting is glorious and views fantastic. We ate in the restaurant on the first night which was nice and breakfast was good, The service was 5 star, staff all friendly and helpful and we really appreciated the ice bucket and glasses for our champagne in the room for our anniversary and massive thank you to staff for contacting us in good time when my wife left her watch in the room after we checked out.
The only thing I’d say is that the shower, certainly in our room, was well in need of a refresh and upgrade.

I love this hotel. Quite sentimental about it as my mum’s family is from Penrith so it’s lovely to be able to go back. I have stayed in the apartments previously. This time I was in Rm 8 in the hotel. It’s right at the top, a large room which is very nice but as it has steps down into the room, it also have very annoying blue saftety light. These were bright and woke me at 3. I understand there is a H&S issue here but think it could be more subtle. Other than that- I really liked it, food was great too.

I loved the surroundings, very beautiful area, I arrived to blue sky and the stars at night outside were amazing. The staff were very friendly, and my evening meal was excellent and really good value for money, the smoked salmon at my table was fantastic.
Really nothing to complain about. Fast broadband, lovely breakfast, fresh coffee, absolutely nothing that I didn't like. I will definitely stay here again

Excellent apartment with 2 ensuite bedrooms. Great location and facilities. Beautifully furnished, warm and kitchen was functional.
The settees and chairs are beautiful and nice to sit on whilst having a cup of tea.,but not comfy for long periods ( like watching a film when rain stopped play). Tiny thing was that I was bothered as there was no wooden spoon or plastic spatula and the pans were non stick coated. I was bothered I would damage them with tge metal spoon and spatula.

The deluxe room was amazing, size and views met my expectation. The double room we stayed in on 26.07.22 was ok, but had no view and was accessed by steep stairs. There was no one to help with the luggage.
Breakfast - On both occasions the food was warm only, the bacon and sausage not tasty the bacon hard, as though it had been sitting around a while. The eggs on both occasions were hard centred not soft. Not really impressed with the breakfast. The supper though was very nice - the smoked salmon starter and the side of fresh vegetables was delicious.

Lovely countryside location. Stayed in the apartment which was great and well equipped. Comfy beds. Dishwasher. Smart TV etc with a charming view of sheep in the field. Superb food at the hotel. Sunday lunch was absolutely fantastic! Staff were really friendly and helpful
Only one issue which was with the water in the taps. It tasted very strongly of chemicals. It was so bad we had to go to town to buy mineral water. It was undrinkable. Also not the properties fault, but taxis were very hard to access so we had to walk to town to get a taxi back. No Uber and they wouldn’t take advance bookings.
