Breakfast and dinner was wonderful - great selection, great taste. Catered for my coeliac son and the staff placed a gluten free flapjack in the room for when we arrived, a really touching thing to walk in to, my son was cared for. Staff were extremely polite, helpful and very well mannered. Restaurant staff also understood and took seriously allergy details. Thank you for a wonderful stay.

Dogs - too many but kept to the ground floor. It smelt of dog in the entrance and reception and dogs were allowed in the restaurant for breakfast, separate section but we were seated there on one occasion. I think the hotel should ask up front if you're happy to be around dogs or not. Also, dinner food took c30mins to arrive, a long time for children to wait.

Outside is bland but inside has a sort of beauty. Well appointed in the main areas. Room fine. Spa very good. Breakfast excellent and far in excess of the quality of breakfast in Pooley bridge. Comfortable 10-15min walk to Penrith centre

On the main page of this site it shows the pool as the main feature. In the text it states the spa is extra. I took the spa to be the treatments and the pool included as seems to be the norm in every hotel like this I have stayed in. NO. The pool cost an extra £20 for the stay. If I had clicked around a bit more the information is there but I assumed (wrongly) it was included. So a bit mixed that I didn't realise the extra cost but I could have done should I have looked harder. Believe it could be more explicit maybe " spa (including pool) at extra cost". Moral, never assume

Loved the restaurant and spa facilities although the swimming pool was full of loud kids Sunday was more relaxing

I felt after paying £200 a night for a basic room for one night then I had to pay a fee to use the spa ... disappointed as I found out anyone could of used it whether they paid or not as the door was open to everyone. £200 for one night hotel room £58 for 2 breakfast and spa facilities Total £258 for one night in basic room I would expect luxury £77 for evening meal for 2 £55 facial £48 4 drinks at the bar Total spent for one night in a basic room £438 Quite expensive

Good facilities and friendly staff. Convenient location.

Noise level high on corridor near my room, disturbed a few times with children running along the corridor. Would have liked Fruit tea selection in the room. Few areas of mould at base of shower. but otherwise very clean. Booked into the restaurant for evening meal but wasn’t told I would not be placed in the restaurant but just outside of it where nobody else was eating , just a family chatting and kids playing , felt like I was eating in a corridor, food and staff great although waited 15 mins to be offered a drink. Entrance to the hotel wasn’t clear, first impression was some areas in reception look a little weathered.

This was our second stay in 11 days because we used the hotel as a stopover out and back while travelling to Scotland. The location, just off the M6 yet very quiet, is brilliant. The room was very comfortable with nice touches like a great Lavazza coffee machine. The standard of friendly, professional service in all parts of the hotel - particularly the restaurant- was very high and is a standout feature of the hotel. We didn’t use the spa facilities but the pool area looks lovely. We would definitely stay here again.

Our room was a bit too warm and did not appear to have AC.

the. receptionist was wonderful, couldn't be more helpful. really friendly

It's not cheap which is fine, but to be asked to leave the restaurant because they wanted to close wasn't acceptable. It's a 4* hotel, they were giving me the dessert menus whsilt clearing the tables nd literally stood with dirty plates asking if we wanted desserts. I then said I may have a coffee at which point they asked us and another table to move out of the restaurant. I found a toenail and hair on the bed.

Firstly the People (staff), always a friendly smile, very helpful and nothing is a problem, do not know many hotel teams as good as this and I have stayed in hundreds across the UK. I have used this hotel several times over the years, I keep meaning to take Mrs K there for a long weekend. Great location for the north lakes (clues in the name) and is a gem of a hotel once inside, do not let the pics of the front of the hotel deceive you, its stunning in side, a superb leisure club, a large gym, pool, sauna, jacuzzi. Several relaxing areas from formal business facilities to relaxed or more formal dining areas, or just a catch-up over a drink in the lovely bar, plus outside is a fantastic garden area with crazy golf and a huge firepit.

One minor point, please give me a safe in the room and that's me trying to find something to put!

Great for families and the little touches for children were appreciated, like the named cookies, kids robes, bunk bed in the family room with curtains. Spa was good and never felt too busy.

The bar and longe area isn’t that big so wedding guests on one evening did almost fill it up. The smell of smoke into the reception and bar area from the smoking area outside the front reception wasn’t very nice. Much better if they could find a better area for smokers so they don’t have to use the front and doesn’t affect non smokers inside.

We had breakfast and dinner in the restaurant and thought the staff were very attentive and friendly. The food was lovely, we especially loved the breakfast! The bed was comfortable, and the room was spacious. The swimming pool was nice!

There was no phone in the room, we had to order roomservice by calling reception and the reception staff weren't very helpful. The fact we had no phone wasnt a massive issue we didn't need to have a phone, however when we explained we had no phone (and to call reception about 3 times because we were getting cut off when being transfered) the receptionist could have had better customer service by either apologising for the incovience or ask if we wanted a phone. Either way, it's not massive problem. They could just do with better training. It would be great if the hotel didn't charge an extra £10.00 per person to use the swimming facilities.
