I don't normally make any reviews but feel this hotel deserves a mention. We stayed for a full week and had a thoroughly enjoyable time. It was one of the best hotel stays we've had. The staff were all friendly and attentive, breakfast menu was superb and plentiful and the hotel location excellent. Our room was clean and comfortable with plenty of tea/coffee etc.. Faultless in every way. Excellent value for money. We plan to return for another week next year.

On checking in to the hotel, we weren't told how to gain access when it closed. Luckily, a member of staff was outside locking up and she told us our room key worked the adjacent outside doors to gain access. Panic over!

Central location in a beautiful town. All the staff including reception, bar, restaurant and cleaners were friendly and very helpful. The food was exceptional including their house burger, and full breakfast the following morning.

Was given a very stuffy room with a tiny skylight as the only ventilation, and unfortunately a squawking seagull was nesting on the roof just outside it which kept me awake. The bedside lamp had no bulb. The bathroom sink had no mixer tap, which would have been more convenient. The bed was comfortable but the quality of the pillows was a little disappointing.

All was wonderful. Room was really nice, perfectly clean, bathroom was superbly clean, room was a great size. Staff were ever so friendly, very attentive, and lovely. We had dinner in the restaurant which was wonderful, even though it was very busy, the staff were still very attentive and lovely. Breakfast was great, with great quality food.

Literally the only thing I can even think of to mention, and it’s just a preference for my self, I am not a fan of shower curtains, a glass shower door would be better. Saying that though, the bathroom was cleaned to a standard where you would think we were the first to ever use it!

The room was really nicely decorated, and felt cosy and pleasant to sleep in. The bed was super comfortable too, which is always nice to discover in a hotel! We both slept really well, and even though we were above the bar the sound stopped around 11pm which wasn't a problem. Plus there was very little if any noise from the street (the secondary glazing seemed to help with that). The breakfast was DELICIOUS. We both had the Cumbrian breakfast and thought it was one of the most delicious we'd ever had! The staff were so freaking friendly, which I feel is a real bonus these days – you don't often come across a whole hotel of lovely, helpful people anymore!! Will definitely be coming back.

The only thing that was tricky was finding the car park. I had read in other reviews that there was parking behind the hotel, but there wasn't any clear signage. We just kind of winged it and eventually figured out where we were supposed to be. Although to be fair we arrived in the dark which didn't help.

We were pleasantly surprised when we entered the building. It looked quite small and insignificant on the outside entering from the street, but once inside it was like the tardis with lovely interior furnishings and a pleasant surprise. The decor was lovely, the staff were friendly and professional. The room was fine, it was clean and had everything you needed and the bed was comfortable. We ate in the bar in the evening and enjoyed our food and the menu looked good. The breakfast in the morning was really good with a good selection of fruit and cereal. Everything was of a high standard, including the crockery. I ordered the full breakfast and it was one of the best I have had. The hotel exceeded our expectations and we would happily go there again.

The room was very quiet which was amazing considering we were in the middle of Penrith on a Saturday night. The bed was big and comfortable and the room spacious. The breakfast choices were good and generous.

There was no obvious reception. We went straight into a bar with hoards of people and blaring loud music and had to try and hunt for someone to check us in. The shower pressure was very inconsistent at one point no water came out at all. I was stood trying to wash soap off and had to wait for the water to start up again and when it did it was like a fire hose!!! The dial to turn it on and off was very stiff and it took me ages to get it turned off. Probably a plus point to some, but there was a bath in the bedroom which I don't personally like. The parking was hard to find and a bit of a walk along a little ginnel. I wouldn't fancy going along there in the dark.

This Hotel is a little difficult to find if you are driving through a town that you are no too familiar with. It quietly sits in amongst a row of other unassuming buildings. The parking is not immediately evident, I needed to park elsewhere, walk to the hotel and ask at reception. Once there all changed. Though late arriving and only just catching the Chef before he went off duty - no food after eight o'clock - my meal and drink was plentiful, well presented, hot and not expensive. The bedroom was clean, tidy and welcoming as was the shower room, and the shower was to die for. A good night's sleep was enjoyed and to top it all the early breakfast at 07:00 was exceptional. I will be re-booking without question when I pass through Penrith again in the Autumn.

Nothing.

Parking available at rear of hotel...involved a walk but secure & convenient. Young staff proved friendly & helpfil. Characterful old hotel...tardis-like inside. Spacious & quirky but with efficient & functional heating, lighting and facilities. Very large bathroom with bath and shower. Good lighting in the rooms - good reading lights. Huge & comfortable bed with good quality bedding. Imaginative menu and a chef who clearly enjoys cookingdinners!

Morning breakfast --- too greasy for me & did not rate the sausages or bacon. Screaming gulls made sleep impossible for some time. Lack of lift and steep stairs proved quitw demanding for my old llegs.

Lovely room and an excellent location.

We were very disappointed with the evening meal. Our table was near the entrance to the toilet so there were people constantly passing us and we were also the door where the smokers went out so it wasn't very pleasant. We had booked the table on arrival in the morning They were extremely busy and we waited nearly an hour for our food. Unfortunately I sent my meal back as it was cold. They were clearly unable to cope.
