If you are planning a short trip to Barcelona, this place is great. Located at Rambla and Plaza Catalunya, so most of the most important points to see are within walking distance. At Plaza Catalunya, there is a metro station that allows you to get basically anywhere. The standard of the rooms is not too high, but it is a two-star hotel, so do not expect miracles - the main thing is that it is clean, and the staff is kind and very helpful. To sum up, if the room is to be used for sleeping after a whole day of sightseeing, I definitely recommend it.

In the winter season, be prepared for the room temperatures to be rather low. Radiators are only in the corridors, not in the rooms, so people with low tolerance to cold should take this into account. With a temperature of 10 degrees outside, however, sleep was completely comfortable.

We had a great room with a balcony facing the center court area. The housekeeping for the room was very good and we always found our room ready and set for when we came in from our day's activities. The hotel front desk concierge gentlemen Jan and Guillaume were always ready to help with recommendations on best places to eat and places to see. They both were very courtesy and respectful which made out stay very enjoyable.

Waiting for the elevator especially during a busy time of the day or night. Unfortunately the small elevator can only take 2 people at one time.

The location was absolutely fantastic. Right in the Plaça de Catalunya, next to a McDonalds. Not hard to find at all, it’s right there with a big sign saying Hotel Monegal in black writing. We were genuinely shocked at how perfect the location was for what we wanted to which was shop, sightseeing, and eat and drink local. It was around a 20 minute walk to L’Arc de Triomf and Parc de Ciutadella. 2 minute to the big shops, a 30 minute walk to the beach if that. Perfect for running also, I did two long runs whilst I stayed (2 nights) and it was the most perfect central location for that!

The stairs. After a long day of walking, that was a killer. But common with European city break hotels. A lift does work but it was slow and only accommodated two people. It really isn’t a necessity!

Their windows are not properly sealed and the noise of this major Main Street goes on till 4am or longer. So not a good sleep at all. At first I thought we had our windows open but to my shock they were closed. If they were to put the foam strips in the frames, that would probably solve the problem with those beautiful but old frames that need that foam in their frames.

This is the best place we could have chosen for our trip. It is close to everything you need to see in Barcelona, Las Ramblas is down the stairs (also you have cheap restaurants for breakfast right downstairs, Burger King, McDonald's, KFC, also a very good pastry shop), you are a walk away from La Boqueria, from the Gothic Quarter, 10 minutes walk to the Colombus Monument, then from the monument you are a few minutes away from the marine and from Barceloneta Beach. Also, the Park of the Ciutadella is very close on your way back to the hotel. The staff at the reception was very friendly and helpful, the cleaners did a great job every day, it is very safe to leave your stuff in the room (even though we locked our luggage every time we went out). The bus to the airport is a few minutes away from the building. We can't wait to come back to this hotel and to wonderful Barcelona!

This is simple hotel which is good for short stay. Located at the central square. Easy to walk around to the shops, restaurants, can walk to the seaside- no need taxi. Staff are always friendly and welcoming. We got our room upgraded from inner yard view to the city view with an amazing views to the city centre and got a balcony.

I personally was disturbed by the noise from the corridor as the doors seem to be very thin and not a soundproof. Staff members arrive to clean the rooms every morning and this noise can be heard very clearly even if they are not doing it willingly.

Amazing stay for the price. The best location right at the top of Las Ramblas - perfect access to tours and shops and it’s super easy to stumble back to after some sangrias. The staff were AMAZING. As soon as we checked in they upgraded our room for free, we were given tips, tricks and discounts to local attractions. I cannot thank the staff enough for our treatment/house keeping and general happiness that added to our stay! The hotel was manned 24hours which made us feel super safe. We could even leave our luggage in the hotel on our final day after checkout to explore the city some more. All in all fabulous hotel, amazing for the price, we will definitely be back next time we come to visit as you cannot beat the cleanliness, kindness, location and standard of the hotel!

Of course some facilities were slightly worn, the building itself is old but it adds to the character. If you want brand new everything then go elsewhere. If you want to feel safe and comfortable on a smaller budget - this is the place to be!

The location is amazing, right across from the plaza catalyna where aerobus drops you off from the international airport. My room looked into an interior court, no view really but it was so quiet that I could sleep really well. This was important given there was a music festival and the plaza ia generally busy. I had a single bed which was fine, staff were accommodating

The place looked a little dated but the location made it ok. Also, generally we don't spend much time in the hotel room.

Great location! Right in the heart of Barcelona: on corner of Placa de Catalunya and Ramblas. The hotel located in a very old classic building, high ceiling, balcony overlooking the Placa de Catalunya. It has elevator. Literally few steps to metro, buses, Hop on Hop Off tour buses, any kind of restaurants. Staff is great. Very helpful. You can check in early, or to leave luggage until 3pm, if early check in not available.

Would be nice to have a little fridge/cooler, and a small coffee maker in the room. Hair dryer, too.
