comfortable, clean modern rooms in a great location. we paid €10 per day for secure parking in front of the building and it was essential as street parking is very scarce. Jorge is a brilliant host with perfect English and loads of recommendations for activities and restaurants. hotel is located a very short walk from centre

Fabulous place to stay in very attentive (Paula especially) in a very quiet residential area with easy access to everywhere and a regular bus service outside the door which we never used. Bed and bedding always important and lovely and comfortable/ our accommodation was.in the second building next door. Lovely seated area at back of hotel which we overlooked and small pool.but we never got the chance to use. Loved the treats left in the bedroom after we returned every day and free bottles of water. Hotel is up a hill and was bit worried as I have an issue with knees but don't go down the stairs at left of hotel just continue walking and much easier and gradual to get into main areas and see so much more - really easy to find your way about and we walked everywhere. The higher up you walked past hotel the bigger the houses got so well worth it especially as temperature was 23 ISH so really manageable.We will be back loved it here and loved Santander very different from South of Spain.

Just a point to note Santander is v hilly in bits (there are escalators though) so only a little minor point to note and it is tiered so makes it a lot easier to get around and not an issue.

The staff were excellent, we spoke practically no Spanish and they were very patient with us and helped us with places to eat etc. The location of the property was very central so made it easy to walk to most areas of the city with bus stops a short distance away. We had a junior suite which was very modern with fantastic facilities and a small balcony, the room was cleaned everyday and to a high standard. I would definitely stay at the property again as we were made to feel very welcome, thanks to all the people who work there.

The only slight disappointment was the pool, more of a puddle but we did think that it could be when viewing the photos before booking. This didn't affect our holiday at all just don't expect much of a pool to swim in

I loved the welcome, the attention to detail from Paula Daniel and the rest of the staff was excellent. The location was a 5 minute walk to the bars/restaurants of Puerto Chico, perhaps 20 minutes into the centre and if we went the other way, c30 minutes walk to Sandinero. We had a continental breakfast in our room which was lovely. Although the room faced onto the street, it was very quiet. We were lucky with the weather and I loved lying by the pool. Restaurant recommendations - La Mulata and Casa Lita were fabulous. We didn't get to Casa Mira as it was always too busy!

Nothing we didn't like!

We really appreciated the daily supply of juice, water and fruit. The location of the hotel was very central to everything. The soundproof windows were very effective. The room was comfortable. Paula at the front desk was particularly wonderful.

The ONLY thing I didn't like is that the bathroom door was opaque. When I was trying to sleep, I was disturbed by the light in the bathroom if my husband was in there. Also, there was no blackout shade over the bathroom window, once again allowing too much light in the bedroom, when the sun came up. Definitely not a deal breaker.

We had a wonderful stay at El Balcón de la Bahía Suites! The location is fantastic, offering stunning views and easy access to the main attractions. The suites are clean, spacious, and well-equipped, providing everything needed for a comfortable stay. They also offer secure parking for an additional cost, which is very convenient for those traveling by car. One small suggestion for winter stays would be to pre-warm the room an hour before guests arrive, as it would make the atmosphere even cozier upon arrival. Overall, the hospitality was excellent, and we highly recommend this place for a relaxing and enjoyable stay!

Staff is lovely from the first step you enter until you check-out, smiley and explaining everything in detail. We traveled by car and had a booking for their car park, which was 15€, it is safe and gated. At arrival, one member of the staff welcomes you and gives you directions while parking as it's a bit tight (we had a long car). Every time someone arrives or leaves, a member of the staff guides you through. While waiting for check-in, they gave us a glass of champagne which was a lovely touch. We had booked a Premier Double Room and receive one with balcony which was a great surprise. There's a coffee machine with a selection of coffee pods and tea, as well as 2 pieces of fruit, 2 traditional Cantabria pastries and 2 bottles of water, which is really generous and appreciated. There's also a fridge. Room size is standard, but there's plenty of room for your stuff and clothes on the shelves provided. Location is fantastic, loads of restaurants, shops, bakeries, etc around. 5 minutes down the road and you're in the main street bar area in Puerto Chico. It is very a safe neighbourhood. 10 minutes drive to the ferry.

Toilet area is not for everyone, as it's only separated by a glass door which doesn't go up to the ceiling, just a heads up if you need total privacy. I have read some comments about a room in the basement with some humidity problems, fortunately, we did not stay in that room as mentioned above. Cleaning could be improved.

It’s a great location, just a short walk to the centre and 20 mins to the beach. The bed was comfy and the provision of a coffee maker was welcome, especially as there is no breakfast at the hotel (you are provided with cake and fruit.) The staff are extremely helpful but are only there from 9am.

It took a long tune to check in because there is only one staff member on duty at a time. We were left sitting in our car for 10 mins on arrival before the staff member could help us get parked. Then we sat in reception for another 15 mins before he could take us to the room. The room was tiny, the balcony so small it couldn’t be used. The parking is extremely challenging. We were initially allocated a space that necessitated reversing out of the gate across the pavement into the road. I explained that I would need to leave before 9am, by myself, and therefore I was unhappy with that space. The staff member kindly agreed to change the space for one that was reverse in and drive out.

We didn’t have breakfast but there is a coffee machine and coffee pods / teabags/ , different cakes/ biscuits and an apple and orange each day. Small fridge too, We had a tiny balcony with a good sea view and we got the sun most of the day. The staff are excellent …all of them. Daniel took us to the room and showed us how to use the air conditioning control, coffee maker etc . The young lady on reception gave us a map and recommended restaurants and pointed out some interested stuff. The hotel is in a lovely tree lined street and come out of hotel turn right and walk a good way and you will come to a lovely beach “Sardinero” .

Loved everything

We were greeted at check-in by Daniel who gave us a glass of Cava while we waited and then showed us everything we needed to know. Super helpful! The room was compact but comfortable and immaculately clean, and the daily provision of free coffee, fruit and cake was a lovely touch. Having read other reviews, we asked for ceramic cups for our coffee and these were provided immediately. The bathroom facilities were very good and again spotlessly clean. The room was made up and cleaned every day during our stay. The area around the hotel is quiet and feels safe, and bars, restaurants and cafes are only a five minute walk away. The hotel itself has been sympathetically styled with its modern interior sitting well in an older building. Paula assisted us at check out and happily agreed to store our bags for us prior to our departure from Santander - she not only insisted on taking them herself but also phoned a taxi for us which was very helpful. Finally, the little bags of sweets on departure were a lovely thought and went down well on our train journey south. Would definitely recommend!

Would observe that although the room (deluxe double with sea view and balcony) had a balcony, it was very small and not really usable by two people as there was only room for one small stool and table. This wasn’t readily apparent from the photos of the room. We noticed that the rooms on the street side had larger balconies and we would book one of these if we were to return. That said, it rained throughout our stay, so we could not have used the balcony anyway!
