This hotel provides the rare experience of traveling back in time, with exquisite original furnishings and lavish interiors from a bygone time. Everyone familiar with Mann’s the magic mountain, will immediately recognize the inspirational material, and soon find him/herself on the «horizontal» position, enjoying the wonderful view, and possibly enjoying a Maria Mancini, walking in the footsteps of Hans Castorp. As the hotel is old, the condition of the hotel in some places may not be up to modern standards. However, this is part of the historic charm, and is in no way any meaningful disturbance

It’s a unique place not only because of Magic Mountain by T.Mann (but it would be a lie to say it’s not an important part of its charm). For staying here you don’t have to be a fan of Mann’s novel, but I think it helps to feel the atmosphere of the place and appreciate the style. It’s like being in the novel, living in a museum (but in a very positive way - when renovating, please keep the old structure and character of the place) surrounded by astonishing nature. We parked and were taken by a cable car immediately upon arrival. Nice and big room with a working space, with a comfortable bed are well enough equipped. WiFi is good. Very good breakfast with fresh vegetables and fruits. Two elevators. Friendly service. Fantastic terrace with the most amazing view over Davos and mountains, as well as room verandas (where I could spend a half of a day just reading and relaxing). Hotel offers a sauna, bar and a restaurant. Very close to the main building there are another two restaurants.

We liked everything! Just to note in the rooms there are no tea/coffee making facilities.

Again perfect stay at this great historic hotel. Very friendly and helpful staff. hotel is not in Davos, which ensures fresh air, quietness and great views. To get there, you need to take the funicular, cable railway (fee included in the overnight cost). Separate parking area paid additionally within walking distance from the cable railway. Everything is well maintained and clean, you can see the age and past glory which gives the hotel very unique character and atmosphere.

Wonderful buffet breakfast, in the beautiful Belle Epoque dining room with spectacular views - best way to start the day! Open fire burning in the evening in the bar. All the bedrooms have amazing views of the mountains in Davos, with loungers to rest in the sun. Access is by the funicular railway. This is a very special place and location. We loved the 5km sledge run right from the hotel door!

Unfortunately we didn't get the dog bowl we had asked for, and our luggage was brought down the funicular late so we missed the train that we had booked tickets on. These were inconveniences but we still loved our stay - the hotel resolved the issue by refunding us the cost of additional train tickets.

Beautiful location. Old but well maintained building and room. Like stepping back in time! Great dinner and breakfast. Good opportunities for walking.

There was a party event on the evening I stayed. I stayed on the 1st floor and couldn’t sleep even with ear plugs due to the bass. The staff were very accommodating and I was able to move to another room which was better. I would request a room on the 2nd floor in future to avoid such a problem.

Lovely staff truly kind accommodating flexible informative beautiful people. Gorgeous building and surroundings...breathtaking views, excellent location to go on hikes, and it has 2 botanical gardens too - it is a piece of heaven on Earth!!!!!

Breakfast wasn't great - sad selection, I don't need a big variety, small is enough but some fresh local produce would be amazing.

View from the hotel was great! Breakfast spread was good. The included premium pass and toboggan were really great! Hotel staff was friendly and helpful. The hotel itself is interesting enough to visit on its own.

Room had no view. Room only had one chair but two persons staying. Rooms also had (understandably) no kettles so we needed to go to the bar for hot water each time. Beds were a little too soft for preference.

This is an old fashioned convalescent home / hotel and be prepared that this is not a brand new hotel chain member. But if you are looking for the magic of the Magic Mountain of Thomas Mann, this is the place. We got under the spell immediately. Note that it is not possible to get there with a car! You need to leave the car at a car park near the funicular station and get to the hotel with such funicular (which adds the flavour). The botanical garden is amazing.

We liked everything.

Everything except soup. It was a great expierience. Like living in the museum. Especially after reading Zauberberg... Free skipass for guests. Sauna. Free cable car.

The garden's vegetables soup had no taste.

staff and location are fabulous.

the spa/sauna could be much nicer.
