the view was outstanding,unfortunately there was not a balcony available at the time of my booking. the room service was excellent,the room was always spotless, and the fridge was replenish each day, and there was always tea and coffee available. The location ,there was a bus stop not 50 meters from the front door,and you were in the town centre in just 15 minutes. The staff went the extra yard to help where they could,had a great time,hope to return soon.

maybe a little more choice on the menu's, more snacks,or sandwiches. But otherwise the food was great,with a good selection for breakfast.

The lake front location is excellent, in small town near Luzern, and the view of the lake from their terrace is captivating. Watching the weather pass over the lake, the sun set in the evening, the boats passing by... it is the very definition of peace. The staff here was so nice, warm and genuine. We felt truly welcome. The food here was also excellent. We enjoyed both the sauna facilities and swimming in the lake. We stayed in the budget friendly rooms without AC and with a view to the suburb behind the hotel. The rooms were nice and the small balconies good for a bit of fresh air. The rooms weren't too hot, and the view is actually nice enough - it's just that the view on the other side is SO MUCH better than any view normally anywhere. It is clear that this hotel is loved by its staff and is taken care of well.

I can't say I really minded, but there are a lot of bees and insects buzzing around the property as it is in a quieter location on the lake. Also, the duck frequenting the swimming pool made us skip that activity due to the ongoing "bird flu" in Europe. The location is perfect for those looking for an out of the way place to experience the area of Luzern at their own pace.

Being right on the lake-shore with a magnificent view. Taking the steamer directly from the hotel pier to Lucerne. Dining on the terrasse. The secluded beach, though it is mostly pebbles.

The pool is really small for a hotel this size. The dinner service was not satisfactory, especially one waiter was very slow and forgot our orders twice (The waitress was fine). The fish was tasteless.

Seehotel Kastanienbaum is a perfect location to start your town visits and hiking trips in the area. A bus (free tickets available in the hotel) can take you into the center of Luzern in around 16 minutes. Nice breakfast (open air terrace by the lakeside - magnificent view)

A charging station option for electrical vehicles at the hotel would be perfect to support customers with. (Now need to go into town and find an expensive parking & charging spot to power up your car for your next trip)

We had an amazing stay at the hotel. Location was stunning. Perfect spot on the lake. Great breakfast. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Boat stops at hotel for tours of the lake or trips to Luzern where you can vacate the boat to sight see. Or bus stop outside hotel takes you straight to luzern. Fabulous holiday.

You do need a car to get around the lake as distances between areas are quite far away. If eating at the hotel the menu does not change each day. Vegetarian options limited no variety.

If you want to stay here, choose a lake view room - you won't regret that. Stunning lake with hills and coves will please your eyes every time you look out the window. Ducks and other birds often play just outside. The reception staff provide guests with a free of charge bus passes for the duration of their stay, which I think is a citywide policy to boost tourism, and very convenient as there is a bus stop just outside.

The room had some technical issues that weren't too bad. I told the staff and they took care of them. Can happen anywhere, honestly.

The breakfast is limited. If you go to restaurant one hour later then you will not find what looking for like the nuts 🌰. You ask the tell you no more . You come next day you don’t find it any more .

Attitude of some of the staff . May be and I hope I am wrong . At arrival the staff were very hospitable. When we left they weren’t. For example the lady told me that I told her the day before departure my room no were 201 instead of 210 which I didn’t. Even if I did it was in the past and I was wondering why she told me that I gave her the wrong room number which is relevant to my departure.

a real utopia! beautiful facilities, great sized rooms with views of mountains, clean, excellent happy service, loved the staff uniforms. breakfast was grand, but lacked some quality… smaller selection with better quality would have been best.

it was unusually warm, so more air flow with windows opened would have been good. lack of air conditioning in restaurant areas…

Peace and quiet. Great view from the room. Excellent facilities. Wonderful approach to adding more experiences, ie, Finding Fondue Huts, Open Fire places outside and Sauna Boat. When l asked what time the bar closes the bar tender responded with, " Whenever the customer finishes" not that l drink very late but l have never heard this response in 30 years of travel in over 50 countries. Bery unique place and will come back again.

Incredible view! Drinking coffee in the morning and wine in the evening from the balcony while overlooking Lake Lucerne was relaxing and romantic. The hotel is very clean and the staff friendly
