We chose this hotel for its location relative to Manchester airport rather than stay at the airport itself as it was much easier for a friend to drop us off there and then have a taxi to the airport in the morning - we also thought that Alderley Edge was a more pleasant place to stay than a typical airport hotel. For us that proved to be the right decision. It is a typically standard chain hotel in terms of rooms, decor, restaurant etc but being an old building it does possess some character and being on the edge of town there are plenty of alternative places to eat and drink. Our room was reasonably spacious, clean, large bed with an adequately equipped bathroom - the staff were very friendly and took the time to make sure that we were happy. If we were to fly out of Manchester again we would certainly consider staying here again.

Nothing really, the hotel isn't extraordinary, its not a place we would chose for an extended stay, but for one or two nights it serves its purpose well.

The location is perfect for exploring the area and the hotel is good value. It is on the edge of the village so the shops and cafés are within walking distance. Food in the pub is very good (dinner on two nights - fresh, generous portions) and continental breakfast included in the room rate. Lovely waiting staff in the restaurant. The twin room isn't huge but is clean and has everything needed except an iron and ironing board and these were lent to us without hesitation. The staff are very welcoming and there is a cosy atmosphere about the place.

The lift, although working perfectly well, is a bit weird so maybe it will be updated in a refurb.

This is such a lovely, welcoming and comfortable place to stay - and run by a highest efficient and super-friendly team available 24/7 who will help you with any problems/requests you might have. It’s a marvellous spot for sundowners and people-watching with a fab outdoor beer garden at the front which catches the evening sun, and a great pub food menu. It’s also extremely well located for some other excellent restaurants/takeaways and superb fish and chip shop next door - and it’s no problem to have takeout if you want an early night, the staff were very kind on our third night with offering cutlery and plates for fish and chips! - so it’s equally perfect if you just want a quiet night as all the rooms are well set back from the road with very secure and ample parking, and super cosy. Hugely recommended in every way!

always enjoy staying here, she staff are very friendly, the food is good, lovely bar and always warm throughout in the winter even with the energy crisis they keep all areas including corridors nice and warm.

with the exception of the bar and restaurant - the whole building is long overdue a makeover inside and out. some rooms have very old single glazed windows that don’t open and there are plenty of thread bare carpets - having said that it is clean and comfortable and I also expect that when they do update it - the room rates will increase . don’t let me put you off - we love it - but if you are looking for bang up to date …..

Room was not massive but fine for our short stay. Limited storage space. Bed was comfortable and facilities there were all as normal. Breakfast was very good, plenty of choice, hot food cooked to order and arrived promptly. Good value. Staff were very welcoming and helpful during our stay. The village was lovely. Lots of cafes, bars and restaurants, independent shops and supermarkets.

Windows had restricted opening and would not have closed properly if we had needed to do so.

We really liked the property. Although the hotel is connected to a pub, the rooms are not built over the pub so our room was nice and quiet. The check in and check out system suited us perfectly because it was very fast and simple. The whole hotel smelled very nice and was exceptionally clean. As someone who stays in a lot of hotels, the smell and the cleanliness really stood out for DeTrafford Arms. WiFi was simple to use, as was the TV.

The only thing that let this lovely hotel down was we would have liked more tea and sugar. 2 tea bags were provided in our room and only 2 sugar sachets. But otherwise this hotel was perfect.

Reception staff particularly helpful and friendly; granted use of the car park at least 2 hours before 'check-in' which was a boon - you're right on the main street, just a few yards from all the hustle and bustle of Alderley Edge. Baby sitting duties required travel cot, promised in our room before we returned from shopping (thanks Angus!). Comfy bed, powerful shower AND a bath and breakfast service very efficient. Evening meal was also good, plus discount from AA membership.

Nothing.

Our room was clean and spacious and the bed was very comfortable. We enjoyed a delicious evening meal and the breakfasts were plentiful, going the extra mile to provide cereal not in their usual range. The staff were very friendly and helpful and even found a room in which we could store our bicycles.

As the hot water for the bath and shower is very hot, it would be helpful to have instructions how to use the mixer taps to gain the most comfortable temperature.

Staff were friendly and helpful. Location was good for us as we were visiting friends and we were close to their home. It is situated just near the high street where there is a good range of shops and restaurants. Breakfast was spot on.

We did have a lumpy mattress, but when we mentioned this we were moved to another room and this one was much better. The place is a little 'tired' but for the price I don't think it is a problem as the place was very clean
