Excellent reception on our arrival at this lovely friendly pub accommodation, even though we had arrived early. Our room was very welcoming, though room was smallish but the pub was dated back to at least 16th century but nicely decorated and cosy. The bed was extremely comfortable and roomy, again, the pillows were comfortable too. Large TV, but not over large was an extra bonus. The restaurant was very good and you still felt you were still part of the pub and not tucked out at the back. Breakfasts were excellent any plenty of choices. Evening meals were good too. Lovely village setting just off the A38, very convenient to Bristol and the motorways. We enjoyed a few drinks outside on a lovely sunny day and felt we we part of the village. Highly recommended and definitely we would go there again.

We thoroughly enjoyed our two night stay at this small pub. It is owned by Butcombe Brewing Co. and the overall standard of the property is high. The staff were courteous and helpful, esp Lauren the manager who explained the history of the building to us and also the best way to day-trip to Bath. A selection of delicious Butcombe brews (cask and keg) are available at the bar, as are a good selection of wines. The food was very good, especially breakfast. Be sure to have the dishes that include the local bacon and salmon. Our room was small but totally adequate and comfortable. As well as the indoor bar and dining area, there is a covered beer garden in the rear, and many picnic tables out front...many places to sit and enjoy a pint and some food. The location of the pub is delightful, being right next to the village church of St Mary's. A visit is well worthwhile. Parts of the church date back to the 13th century. The church is also renowned for it's bell ringing which you can heard every Sunday. The pub is well situated for day trips to both Bath and Bristol. If you are driving to either of these cities be sure to use the Park-n-rides. The helpful staff at the pub will explain. Overall, an excellent place to stay if you want to explore Gloucestershire, Bath, and Bristol, or if you are heading to South Wales.

Just an observation...The Bowl is located in lower Almondsbury and can be a bit tricky to find the first time around. But no problem thereafter.

Have to say, don't often end up isomewhere that is so much better than good. Hidden gem on our doorstep. Lovely olde world hotel that my wife says used be an inn dating back to the twelfth century. Certainly updated, but still keeps the character. So different from the ubiquitous modern characterless glasshouses u find everywhere that have hundreds of rooms that feel like cells. If u rate quality over quantity u can't go wrong here. Only about a dozen or so rooms so it's incredibly informal. Rooms have names, not numbers. That's a lovely touch. We were in King James. Old fashioned key entry to add to the character. Bed was big and comfortable. Staff were so friendly and welcoming. Food was exceptional. No apologies for repeating quality over quantity. Brought to ur table. No buffet. So if that's ur thing, maybe not so good. But staff seemed happy to accommodate larger appetites with extras. Chatted to the landlady on the way out and promised a good review. Defintely a repeat stay. Looking out for other Butcombe hotels now.

Nothing. Nice little getaway. Will spend more than one night next time.

Very easy to check in/out. Premises and bar very nice. Room was quiet (despite being 10’ and on level with outdoor drinking/smoking area) and comfortable. Parking facilities v close and handy. We don’t eat in but pub very busy which is encouraging and suggests good quality.

Shower was only a trickle of hot water. No milk supplied for hot drinks in room - 1x cafetière only. No facilities to make tea. Breakfast room and food very nice although breakfast food served in unorthodox order - coffee first, cold croissants and then porridge and orange juice (picky, I know). 9 emails received from Booking.com re.our stay which seems excessive.

We loved the pub, lovely little setting in a lovely little village, staff were fab the rooms were beautiful 😍 with a 6ft comfy bed, we even took a pic of the mattress, it was so comfortable we want one at home. The bathroom was small but lovely. Would deffo recommend this lovely little pub/inn. Perfect just of the M5, was a stop off on the journey home and so glad we found this little gem. Breakfast was lovely and the ground are stunning in the little beer garden at the back with heated pergola outside seating. Just fab. Loved it here.

Loved everything

Lovely clean room with large bed in beautiful old inn in the heart of the old village. Nice food and drink in the bar .

Breakfast was strange. We were handed a menu with about 20 items listed but no clue given as to what we were entitled to order. WE chose 1 item each and werent asked if we wanted anything else. My wife asked for toast and was given white sourdough which was the only bread available. When she asked for honey, marmalade or preserve she was told there was only raspberry jam . Strange......

Quiet setting after pub closed. Cosy room very well presented. Staff were welcoming and chatty. The car park was easy to access and log on to for free. Lovely area easy access to places. Comfortable bed and nice cuppa facilities. Room decorated to a very high standard.

Little things that would have made a perfect stay. Housekeepers could of wiped sink over as we where there for 3 nights. Cold at breakfast time sat near fire place and a draft was blowing through the gap. Pub food was a bit too fancy for our taste but we did have a meal there and portion sizes were good and well presented. No hair dryer 😥

When I was asked at check-in if I wanted fresh milk for my room, I knew I was in good hands! The single room wasn't overly large, but well organised and easy to move around in. The bathroom was big, and fully fitted for disabled access. The evening meal was very good, and breakfast was outstanding. And at a very civilised time.

I really have to nit-pick to put anything in this section - since the room was downstairs for disability access, the morning delivery was very audible.

The room was cosy and had all we needed, great coffee and tea. Lights set cosy and radio on as we went in, toasty warm, cimfy bed. We were right at top with velux windows. The food in bar was lovely, we had dinner and breakfast. We stayed as visiting son innarea but prefer to stay in an inn or hotel.

The staff came across as stressed and over stretched, a young lady in all black, curly pony tail, dismissed me twice as I stood at bar to get a wine, as said had lots of orders on. I guess for table orders. Resturant and bar tables full, probably twice over. Appeared no bar only service, bar area to sit in, as all tables delegated and booked up for food service. So no where to sit and relax in evening except room. We choose Inns to stay in, so a communal area, bar to enjoy evening in. Very busy. Based on this not sure would stay again.

This is a Pub/Restaurant with rooms. The place is situated in a nice town, next to an old and beautiful church which gives it a very local English and traditional feel. The Pub and the Inn are super super cozy and warm, beautifully decorated and maintained. The staff is charming and very attentive. The rooms are comfortable and well equipped, and again, very cozy and warm. The breakfast is lovely and has vegetarian and vegan options. We also dined at the restaurant one evening, and it was great! They have a variety of dishes, including vegetarian and vegan options which are very good, as well the fish and chips which was delicious. I hope I'll have the chance to come back to Bowl Inn. I highly recommend it!!!
