Grand looking hotel and gardens, lovely professional staff, huge bed, nice food, lovely spa facilities. James made us lovely cocktails and the restaurant manager was very good at his job also. All in all a fabulous getaway!

It needs a deep clean, there was thick dust on skirting boards & cobwebs hanging in the room and thick dust on edges in other parts of the hotel like the extractor fan in the pool and ledge in changing room. It also looked like it really needed hoovered. It's such a beautiful place that it wouldn't put us off returning but just wondered if there's a shortage of cleaners or something.

We stayed for post Christmas break as a treat, and we can say it was beautiful. Everything we expected. The staff at reception were super friendly and couldn't help enough. The room was an executive room with ample room, lovely and cosy. Plenty of storage and space to sit. We had an evening meal in the bar and the staff member was super helpful and friendly. Breakfast both mornings had great selection and service was pleasant. The spa was just was needed. The outdoor areas were great to explore though recent wet weather and poor shoe choice meant we couldn't explore the maze. Would highly recommend and would definitely return

Mattress was a little thin and light under the room door was a bit of a disturbance but not enough to turn us away. The spa was quint but definitely tired and needs some tlc.

Breakfast and dinner were excellent. You can choose from the a la carte or the garden menu at dinner, they are happy for you to have a starter from one menu and a main from the other. We had the Langley suite, so we had a sitting room, kitchen (no equipment), bedroom and beautiful bathroom. The grounds are lovely to walk round and there is even a maze. The pool and spa are fabulous, you need to ask for a robe and slippers at reception or in the spa. The hotel is well placed for visiting up and down the coast. All the staff are very helpful and friendly. Make sure you explore the Doxford Hall as there are some lovely rooms to sit and have a drink in. We will definitely stay here again.

I would have liked a better bed, the room was large enough for a super king bed. The shower screen was a little loose. I am just being picky.

Everything from checkin to leaving , staff are exceptional, loved the little touches such as the little mini tour before being shown to your room. Breakfast in my opinion was fantastic and though we didn't eat in main restaurant in the evening , the food served in the bar was high quality . The room was well equipped, bed very comfortable , everything you could need from a fan to an iron and board

The only small criticism and not sure if this is in hotels control, but the spa(pool) shuts at 18.00 it would be nice if it opened later as after a day out in the local area you could come back and relax by pool or in hot tub , however didnt detract from what was a wonderful two nights.

Breakfast very good. We ate an evening meal there which was fabulous. The hotel grounds (even in winter) looked beautiful. The room was clean and well appointed.

We stayed in the old gardeners cottage a little away from the main hotel. Absolutely not a problem and is a lovely old building. Only slight negative was the decor of the room was very plain, verging on bland and in no way referenced the location or history of the hotel. Felt slightly like a Travelodge! Spa looked a bit tired

From arriving at the hotel to departure our stay was excellent. Every member of staff was so professional yet friendly. The food & service in the dining room was of exceptional quality, Really nice pleasing ambience in the dining room. The hotel presented a feeling of olde worlde but with modern service.

Only an observation, but the shower was over the bath, which had no grab rails, & very slippery, difficult for husband to access, we requested a rubber bath mat which was duly supplied. A shower screen would be better than flimsy curtain. No long mirror in the room.

The friendly welcome, the large bedroom, the dog-welcome package (treats, bowl & towel!), the relaxed atmosphere, the spa, (one of the best massages ever), the lovely team serving breakfast & dinner, the breakfast

I’m reluctant to write anything negative about our stay, as what’s not to like about a dog-friendly spa hotel! (If you have a dog that is). And it really was a lovely, friendly place. But I thought the bar came up short. It was obviously tied in to some large drinks group and so the wine list was not very inspiring and you couldn’t ask for any off-menu cocktails. They didn’t offer anything to eat, not even a bag of crisps! The young barman, who clearly didn’t want to be there, told us to go upstairs to the fitness suite and buy crisps from the vending machine. This was the only blip in the hotel’s otherwise excellent service

The Hotel is in an excellent Northumberland location; it is a most impressive building in lovely well kept grounds. Our room was large & very well appointed with a very spacious bathroom and such a good, large deep bath. Staff were most friendly & helpful. The breakfast was varied and of very good quality. We enjoyed our stay there, though perhaps a little more expensive than we would have liked.

Although our room was of good size & well appointed with a lovely view of the Hotel's ground, we personally would have preferred a larger bed.

Room was spacious and tastefully furnished Public rooms were also spacious and well furnished Dinner was "fine dining", and well presented. Choice off a slightly cheaper menu also available Leisure Complex was good

Restaurant dinner menu did not change. We stayed 4 nights. Choice was acceptable, but anyone staying longer may struggle with the restrictive choice. Cocktail bar had some strange omissions . For example Kir,and Kir Royal not available, yet champange by the glass was available for afternoon tea.

Everything

The restaurant menu could have had more variety and choice on the menus, we asked the waiter to ask the chef, could he tell us if the vegan burger was spicy or not, he came back with the answer, the chef didn’t know, it may have chillies in it. This could have been an issue with anyone having any food allergies if they don’t know what’s in it??? this also made us assume the food was not fresh and pre prepared, considering what the hotel is charging for the food!!!?? This is coming from a professional chef and catering background. But the food we had was very good. THE BREAKFAST WAS AWESOME.
