Fanatastic place. Full of character and characters. Rooms are fine - very comfortable beds, spacious bathroom. Only downside for me personally was having to climb two flights of narrow / bendy stairs but that speaks to my age and state of disrepair rather than a criticism of the property. Ate in the restaurant on the night we stayed and food and service were excellent. My wife is not English and is not a natural fan of English food but she devoured the fish and chips - which were as good as i have tasted anyway. Being a lifelong fan of beer and bars I loved the bar in the Old Ship. An excellent selection of real beers and spirits ( I enjoyed the 7 Bridges IPA and Jamesons preand post dinner) and sociable staff and customers. Very rarely ( never ) spend time writing reviews but The Old Ship really does deserve it.

We stayed in the 2 bedroom bungalow x it was a good accommodation within itself x nice to have a sitting room for the 4 of us to congregate x an additional comfy chair/sofa so 4 could sit down together would have been perfect but there was a dining room table with 4 chairs x teas and coffees available too. Lovely and clean and beds were comfortable x tasty pub food in the pub and good breakfast x we needed to leave earlier and the chef was very accommodating and started half hour earlier which was very much appreciated x staff were excellent x parking is a few minutes walk in a large public carpark and was around £10 for 24 hours x
The only downside was the bungalows position x although it has a good view of the harbour surrounding the bungalow on 2 sides is the outdoor seating area x it was fairly quiet when we stayed but can imagine in the summer it would be like being in a gold fish bowl x there are good quality blinds you can use for privacy x I suppose when planning to build it there wasn’t much choice of positioning due to land available within the pubs boundaries x

The location was perfect for us as it was our first time on this side of the coast Plenty of places to eat and drink Lovely walks along the beach it was most enjoyable and the weather Lovely too
The only thing we didn't like where our room was we was in room 6 on the first floor we we were the first room everybody had to pass so you could hear other guests talking coming up the stairs as they pass our room and have a conversation on the small landing before going to their rooms We mentioned it and made a suggestion by putting a notice up ask guests to have respect for others guests when coming up the stairs and passing other rooms to get to their room It would not stop us from returning we would just ask for a quiet floor on which the manager suggested 4

The Olde Ship Inn is in a fabulous location, within easy walking reach of the centre of Seahouses and the beach / harbour whilst also being closely accessible by car to many other attractions / locations such as Bamburgh, Holy Island, Morpeth and Alnwick. The building itself is full of charming character and the traditional features are complemented by a very tasteful refurb to the many rooms available for guests. The bar is lively and well-stocked, the restaurant serves fabulous meals (for dinner I heartily recommend the seafood chowder), and the breakfast menu is as good as I have ever seen (try the kippers!). Last but certainly not least, the staff are we wonderful; everyone we met was happy to help and conducted themselves with a happy yet fully professional demeanour.
No onsite car parking (although plenty of payable public parking close by)

Great location, very near the harbour. The pub is full of character, and all the nautical paraphernalia adds to its charm. The room was a good size, clean and bright, and the bed was comfortable. Traditional breakfast was generous. The reception staff were welcoming and friendly. Great communication, especially about where to find parking.
The beer garden has a sea view but not the room or dining room. The room was located right beside the kitchen exhaust, so we were unable to leave the window open on a warmer day. As in most older accommodation, it could be noisy from the noise above.

Excellent location, staff and accommodation were excellent Breakfast was very tasty, even the dog loved the sausages, mind you what dog doesn't 🤣🤣🤣 We also went back for our evening meal , again excellent
Parking was an issue on site , parked in front of the block of flats opposite the cottage , totally legally, btw When we returned this evening we found a note on the car telling us that it was private parking and to move the car. We replied to the note and went for dinner in the old ship inn, only to come out to find another response , so we responded and drove off 😀 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

The room was excellent. The staff were just great. So friendly and helpful. Top marks to the whole team. The food was also excellent. We had dinner in the evening which was a great, traditional Sunday roast dinner. And in the morning, breakfast was lovely. Always a treat to see kippers on offer and I thoroughly enjoyed my beautifully cooked fish.
The only down side was that the room was very warm through the night. The weather was a bit stormy so we couldn't open the windows. But that was the only thing that wasn't top-notch and only a minor point.

Everything apart from the below
Breakfast , restaurant had one table busy so me and my wife sat on a table for four next to the window,we had our fruit juice etc and ordered breakfast and then we were asked to move? We moved and received both breakfasts which were both wrong,my wife asked to change hers as she didn't want bacon or black pudding, the plate came back 2 minutes later with the items missing, I don't know what the procedure is but it wasn't very professional.other than that had a lovely stay, but I do like my breakfast.

Authentic, characterful, lovely room, food was lovely, wine list not too expensive. Breakfast very nice and relaxing. Parking was available at nearby car park, but if you have the Pay By Phone app it is easy to keep topped up without having to keep visiting to get a ticket. Very close to Seahouses harbour so lovely to stretch legs after a good meal in the evening.
Bath/shower was high. I do wish more of these older properties would convert to shower only - who takes a bath these days? Maybe many still prefer bath but getting in and out of a bath can be a challenge as one gets older.

Excellent place full of quirky items, friendly people and very cosy. Ask to see the "museum" on the first floor. Near to the local shops, the harbour and the sea views are lovely. Seahouses a good base for touring the area.
Dinner was not as good as the last time we stayed. Not bad but not special. Need more fish dishes and local produce maybe? Car parking tricky. Blue badgeholder so could park in the car park if any spaces, also staff car park. Stairs are tricky but understand there are some ground floor "apartments " on site.
