Our room was good. I loved the view, the room was bright and spacious and the WiFi was great. All members of staff were friendly and welcoming, great cafe, good breakfast, large bathroom, comfortable beds, plenty of parking spaces and good location.

I lifted the sheets on the beds and the bottom of the beds were heavily stained. The shower was a nightmare as the water was far too hot and I couldn’t adjust the shower to make it more cooler. You’ll know what I mean when you stay. There are also small, thin, black bugs on windowsill and skirting boards. The window looks directly over fields which perhaps could be the cause of these bugs.

The ease of parking & the closeness of the car park to the hotel. The quickness of booking in & everything ready for a comfortable relaxing stay. The friendly conversations of the staff & hotel atmosphere, nothing was too much trouble. The restaurant meals were really tasty and filling. There was the option too of ordering from the café but sitting in the restaurant, a great idea! Excellent value meals & included in our stay was the breakfast, with a variety of choices. A very tasty cooked breakfast on offer or a lighter continental choice of a range of fruit, juices, cereals, yoghurt & toast with jams. The view from the bedroom was of panoramic farm fields with Bamburgh Castle in the distance & plenty of different birdlife to view. Everything added to a very relaxing & enjoyable break.

We’ve used the cafe many times on trips to the north is Scotland. For our visit to Bamburgh Castle we were looking for somewhere reasonable for a couple of nights and discovered it was also a hotel! All the rooms are at the back and look into agricultural land- not overlooked and very quiet. The rooms were comfortable, good beds, and had all the usual stuff you’d expect. The inclusive breakfast was varied and excellent. The key factor was the staff. Nothing was too much trouble. They were very friendly and gave us valuable advice to make the most of our stay. The castle visit was impressive and we took the opportunity to visit Alnwick and Barter Books, one of our favourite places.

Nothing to dislike. It’s not fancy but everything you need is there.

Nice friendly member of staff at the front desk, super clean from the main lobby all through the lodge...rooms were also spectacular in cleanliness, relaxing view of sherp in the winter snowed fields..bathroom shiny and smelt beautiful..maybe an extra pillow would of been better...food was super delicious ( even though they forgot naan bread to the curry!)..all funning areas were clean and well presented..breakfast included was more than satisfactory! Once again the engagement of staff and information was absolutely second to none ! Most certainly would recommend and stay again

There was nothing I didn't like!

I can't rate this lodge highly enough. The accommodation is easy to find, overlooking beautiful countryside and Bamburgh Castle, has plenty of parking, a garage and cafe alongside it and all are open 24 hours a day - what more could you want? The staff were excellent - they went out of their way to help us. We had a meal in the restaurant and I can honestly say it was the best lasagne I've ever had! The flexibility to have something from the restaurant or the cafe at any time was brilliant. We left early (at 5am) and the cook made us bacon barms to take with us so that we could get going before the weather worsened. There was plenty of space in our room and the bed was really comfy too. I would definitely recommend this lodge and would call again if we were in the area.

The only improvement I could think of would be a heated towel rail in the bathroom, but this was just a small thing.

Good location for exploring the Northumberland coast, plenty of parking. Functional rooms facing fields away from the A1 so much quieter than expected at night. Free WiFi. Lovely attentive staff. Dog friendly at no extra cost and the breakfast/dining/bar area is split in two with dog families one side and others who may not wish to share with dogs in the other. The food was excellent and very reasonably priced for the quality, we decided not to eat anywhere else during our 3 night stay. Breakfast choice was varied, cooked freshly, delivered quickly and again was excellent. Would definitely book again when in the area. Good value for money.

Nothing to dislike

Staff were fantastic, really friendly and helpful. We even got to check in early which was a bonus. The hotel was very doggy friendly my dog even got sausages at breakfast. Rooms were basic but clean and tidy. Breakfast and food in the cafe and restaurant was top notch, really good food, which we all really enjoyed. We would deff stay again.

The shower, there was no pressure unless you had it on really hot, although it was a good temperature, this however was only a tiny pick up and it def did not spoil our stay.

The location is excellent, we could see Bamburgh Castle from the bedroom window !...Being at the side of the A1 makes for easy access to the area, north or south...The breakfast was really good, with English and continental options..The on- site bar and cafe make it a great place to stop over...

On the first floor, the room floors creak, I suspect they are chipboard, and the shower water pressure is low, but the bath filled quick enough. Personally, I do belive that dogs should not be allowed in all parts of the dining areas. We had one evening meal there, which was really good, but decided to eat out for the remainder of the stay.

Purdy Lodge was a great place to stay the night. We arrived to find the room spacious and clean. The view from the room was nice as well. The bed was comfortable and it was quiet the night we stayed. I also appreciate the efforts made to be more environmentally friendly. The dinner we had was really quite good and larger portions than we expected (thank you chef). The breakfast was a nice addition as well, but I’m not sure if we ate enough to justify that cost being included. Overall, a nice stay and I would return if we pass through again.

I felt the only room for improvement was the receptionist/waitress was a bit stressed regarding the waitressing aspect. She didn’t ask how I wanted my food cooked for either meal (rare/well done meat or fried/scrambled/poached egg), so it was always a bit of a surprise. It seemed like her process made things a bit harder on her rather than impacting the diners too much. I hope she can find a way to streamline it a bit more for her sake.

This great little hotel was ideal for our stay in Northumberland. Located on the A1, it was easily accessible and the traffic noise wasn't even noticeable. Great links to all main tourist attractions. The room was clean and comfortable and with a rural view. Breakfast was very good, a lot of choice and the service was excellent; the staff were attentive even though they were so busy, due to it being the summer season. However, they didn't let that affect the service.. Great advice on trips given, too. We would definitely stay here again. We booked in advance and got a great price and it was worth it.

There is nothing bad about our stay; we would visit again.
