It was in a lovely location, just outside Barnard Castle. The receptionist on duty was really helpful and welcoming, and indeed all the staff were just the same - nothing was too much trouble. We had an evening meal, which was really good (though the wine was very expensive for what it was, but that's a minor complaint), and the breakfast was excellent too. (Well done on the Eggs Benedict!). I think the room we had, which was one up from the smallest, was pretty small and perhaps a little dark, but it was great to have proper towels - not tea cloths - and a really good shower, which made all the difference. And to have an ironing board and iron in place was good too. We really shouldn't complain, as it was all very nice and welcoming, and we would have stayed another night, but they had a wedding so it was all booked up.
As I mentioned, the room was a bit smaller than expected and quite dark. We could have done with slightly brighter bulbs, perhaps? Wine quite expensive. Also, there were no dog treats in a dog-friendly room, but our dog didn't notice ;). That's kind of all I have to say on what we didn't like!

The location was lovely. Room was cosy and very clean. We had an evening meal and breakfast and the food was gorgeous, cooked to order and the restaurant staff were fantastic. Nothing was too much trouble even though they had a wedding party booked and were very busy we felt appreciated.
Our room had a notice outside above the door saying mind the step but that should be placed a bit more prominently as we didn't see it and my partner fell down the step. Radiator kept knocking in the bathroom, we did ask for it to be checked and the staff did get it checked immediately, but I believe it was a problem with the heating system set too high. Nothing could be done about it but it didn't ruin our stay.

Runa Farm is beautiful, very rustic but with all the luxuries you would expect. My travel companion and I had a comfy double each, which had previously received poor ratings on Trip Advisor I noticed because they were small. However, whilst compact, they are not tiny and there is still room to walk all around the bed, with 2 bedside tablesm a wardrobe with a full length mirror inside it and a wonderful walk in rainfall shower in teh bathroom! The wonderful staff and manager were all lovely! They cannot do enough for you and we felt very welcomed and looked after. As for the restaurant, well the food and cocktails were exellent!! We booked this place becasue of the excellent food reviews and we weren't disappointed. Dinner in the restuarant was delicious and fresh, with execellent service, and the breakfasts were spot on. There is nothing they won't do for you if you ask!
We stayed for 2 nights, and on the first night there was a wedding at the venue. Whilst we knew it was also a wedding venue, sadly for us opn this occasion some of the wedding guests decided to party in the adjoining rooms right through the night up until 5am, which meant a sleepness night. Not the venue's fault and when we spoke to the manager she mentioned that it's the first time this has happened since she has been at Runa Farm but she was aware of the issue from other guests too. So if there's a wedding on, I would advise asking for a quiet room if possible!

Nice location with great hot tub outside patio space and gorgeous views. The restaurant was lovely and staff friendly and helpful. The radio provided a lovely background and we loved that! It was clean and there was a Nespresso machine which we loved.
The room was tiny with no room for luggage. Pillows were probably the worst we have ever experienced… it was hard to sleep with those pillows. The bathroom mirror was too high for a petite person like me and the only other mirror was at the coffee station with no lighting. Impossible for makeup and hair with no plug to dry hair in the bathroom… although no hair dryer was provided… we had to request one.

Breakfast was good, a pleasing range of options, fresh food. Location means Runa is easily accessible with a good sized car park. Outdoor areas are well lit and maintained. Shower was good. Nice atmosphere. Reception staff exceptionally friendly and helpful. Bar staff worked incredibly hard and presented drinks to a great standard, in the function rooms.
Room size was on the small size, despite booking a Courtyard Superior room, despite that my room has been put as a cosy double, I have double checked my booking confirmation and it definitely states ‘Superior Room’. At either side of the king size bed there was a shelf with right angles at head height which I didn’t feel comfortable with. Bathroom good. Door from the room to the outside walkway didn’t seem to have any soundproofing (room 15, same for room 25). Too many uneven walkways which could do easily be smoothed out. I would like to see permanent direct access from the courtyard accommodation to the function rooms ie not have to go through the public bar, outside, round the front and back in. No availability of food of any type after hours from Runa.

The room was nice. It was set up as expected, clean and warm which was good. The location of the hot tub was OK but due to the floor covering outside your feet got very grubby, even with the slippers provided. No hooks to hang the robes either.
service in the restaurant was poor. Particularly around the drinks. We waited 45 minutes for the first drinks to arrive (half way through our mains) and I had to remind the staff we had ordered. Waited another 25-35 minutes for the next lot to arrive, one of which then had no alcohol in it. When I mentioned this the offered to put some it but we had already finished our meal and wanted to head back. I had to ask that this was removed from the bill.

The venue itself was lovely! We’re going to organise looking at here for a potential wedding venue - We didn’t get to venture round the property during our stay as there was a wedding on so looking forward to organising.
The very little sleep we got which was nothing to do with the comfort of the room. We were next door to the farmhouse where there was a few people staying and unfortunately they were very loud & disruptive throughout the night - All we could hear was them throwing up, shouting, slamming doors etc.

Everything. Perfect for date night. Friendly helpful and professional reception staff. Authentic farmhouse feel, but luxury. Exposed beams, stone bathroom, hot shower, comfy bed, very clean. Enclosed secluded yard with hot tub, characterful, tasteful, quirky room, lovely view over the durham countryside watching the sun go down on sun loungers. Need I say more. Spectacular.
Only that we didn't stay a second night. Moved on to somewhere else and regretted it

Loved the boho style. Very clean and well equipped room with huge bed - must have been super king-size. Breakfast was like a 5 star hotel with a delicious buffet of cold meats, smoked salmon, fresh fruit - raspberries, blueberries, blackberries, melon. Pastries. Full cooked breakfast was excellent. Hotel is dog friendly and there was an enclosed field beside the hotel where the dog could have a run. For the price - @£98 for the night which included that 5 star breakfast, it was great value for money.
The room was a "cosy double" which didn't leave much space with the massive bed taking up most of it, but we managed fine. £30 for the dog to stay seemed very expensive although for this it gets a dog bed, bowls and treats.

It was quirky, the bed was clean and comfortable. Breakfast was lovely, loads of choice for everyone.
The walls between the rooms were very thin, you could hear everything that was going on next door, someone going to the toilet, someone was playing music in the early morning also and you could hear it word for word. The shower and the rubber seals need more attention and need to be cleaned as they had discoloured. I think the rooms were slightly over priced for what you got.
