The location, right next to the Abbey, was excellent, as was the sea view from the room. The included breakfast was fine, a traditional English with a smattering of Scotland (haggis) including 3 eggs! The hotel is reasonably central to the town so all is within walking distance.

The price in Booking.com was £30 more than the room rate if booked directly at the hotel, given the time of year. Luckily, our room was locked and we had to get another which wasn't as sold so the hotel let us have a selection of keys to pick our preferred room. We picked one overlooking the sea and the Abbey, which probably was at the rate we paid.

The hotel is next to the Abbey and overlooks the water and the castle, so the view from the breakfast room is amazing. Our room overlooked a yard and rooftops but you probably get a better view if you have a deluxe room. Staff are lovely, especially the lady who does the breakfasts, cleans and seemed to pop up everywhere - definitely would have been the Housekeeper in olden days! She and the chef came in early on the day we were leaving to make sure we could have a cooked breakfast before leaving to catch the tide. The hotel is at the heart of the village so close to pubs, restaurants - it has its own restaurant which was great - shops and museums..

Not overly important to us as Holy Island should be a compete getaway from technology, but internet access in our room was poor and patchy in the public areas.

A stately old pub on Holy Island right next door to the priory remains and views over them from the dining area and gardens. Perfectly located to walk to the castle or down to the cove to look over inner Ferne and the seals. The staff were really friendly and engaging and overall the stay was as expected for a pub stay.

The main detractor for this property was the shower. Really poor pressure and the shower head wouldn’t stay in place and flopped all over the place. We also asked for glasses as there were only plastic cups for our bedside water. It would have been nice to have had some sliced fruit and yoghurt for breakfast as well as cereal, toast and the cooked options. Given the price charged this is not an unreasonable expectation. We have resided at superior properties able to provide the above and for less.

The family room with sea and castle view was excellent. This is the third time we've stayed in the hotel, and always book the same room. The location is excellent, love it here.

We were slightly early arriving, but we'd had a long journey, so went to reception which was all in darkness. A guy came through from behind the bar, and abruptly said, "check ins not till 3", and started walking away. I asked where I could park, as the car park was full. He said "car park", while still walking away. I told him the car park was full, to which he replied, "out there", pointing to the road outside the hotel premises. Which was also full of parked cars. I pointed out that I needed a permit to park out of the hotel grounds, but he said I didn't need one, as no one ever comes and checks.

There is no doubt the location is its selling point and you are paying for the view, should you wish to choose a sea view room. The bed was very comfortable and we got up and left our hotel room to watch the sunrise, but this can easily be seen from your window. The food doesn't have a good rating on certain sites, but we had a fantastic dinner and breakfast. The reception and waiting staff were very friendly and nothing was too much trouble.

There were a couple of places that had no signage to 'Mind Your Head' which if you're over 6ft and not familiar with the building and adjacent to your door, it could cause and accident, and did. The staff were informed and will be addressing this. I didn't like being asked to leave the lounge/bar area and vacate to the restaurant while they had a staff meeting. When you have paid £228.00 for a room (including breakfast), it's not something you'd expect and I have never experienced. The plug hole and the toilet fastenings could have been cleaner, and again, just a small detail, but noticeable. No decaf tea in the room and this has been the case for every hotel we have stayed in and not great for those with caffeine intolerance.

We had a lovely room on the top floor that was spacious, clean & comfortable. We were travelling as two friends with two dogs and it was ideal. The room was hot but we had a sash window that we could leave open all night. We had a bathroom with only a shower, but that is my preference anyway, and the water was hot, which I appreciated. I often find the water temperature is not hot enough. Breakfast was included and we had a very enjoyable full English. The staff even offered to cook sausages for the dogs. The staff were friendly and very helpful. There are only 3 places that serve food in the evenings on Holy Island and they get booked up weeks in advance. The Monor keeps availability for residents which is necessary.

Nothing. My only slight issue was that the menu for the evening meal was not to our taste. Luckily, we had pre booked an evening meal at the pub owned by the same people, and it was exceptional.

We stayed for one night. The location was fantastic. We did have a room that faced the courtyard at the rear of the building so there was no view but we knew that on booking. The room was a reasonable size, on the first floor so just one flight of stairs to navigate. We were able to park on site which was a bonus. We had dinner in the hotel which we thoroughly enjoyed, breakfast was good too. The staff were very welcoming and friendly.

Just a few gripes. Unfortunately the external wall of the room was very wet due to water ingress from outside. This had happened very recently and we understand that these things do happen, especially with an old building and harsh weather conditions but we could’ve been pre warned and given the option whether or not we wanted to stay, perhaps offered a discount. Sleeping in a damp room may not be acceptable to everyone. The room was very expensive. The bed was incredibly bouncy and creaky. Showering was challenging because the shower hose/head required attention.

The location is second-to-none, next to priory. I had finished the St Cuthbert's Way, walking alone, and knew it was a small room and had a separate bathroom when I booked it. The view from the room was amazing - right across to the castle and out over the sea. The best thing of all was the bathroom - it had a bath! It was the first hotel I'd stayed in on the route that did and it was wonderful to soak after 71 miles hiking. I liked the restaurant & bar and the place was warm and quiet, and the staff really friendly. Breakfast was great.

The room was pretty small and cramped, but I knew that before booking and it wasn't a big deal for me. But the only real negative was that I couldn't air the bathroom - the windows don't open.

We liked everything..! The staff were so friendly and helpful. We were offered a free upgrade to a wonderful room with sea views, a view of the castle and a view of the priory right next door to us! Beautiful large room, really comfortable huge bed, a bath to relax in after a long walk. Evening meal was so tasty, some excellent dishes to choose from! Breakfast was delicious, we wish we had booked to stay longer, we’ll definitely use this hotel next time we stay overnight..!

There was nothing to dislike.

Location fab. Reasonable choice of food. Wine reasonably priced. Staff were great and although could not accommodate me an upgrade on the 1st night, they did on the 2nd night to a king-size with a bath and sea views. Friendly and efficient. The bar was warm, comfortable, and inviting and well stocked.

I would have loved a Sunday roast especially after a good long walk around the island. However as its winter and a quiet time of year I understand the demand may not be there. They even made us food late on the Sunday although the chef was due to be finished. Will defo be back when I can. Thank you 😊
