garden rooms were nice, managed to get a late booking as we were travelling through beautifully decorated and serene. the main house and grounds are lovely the breakfast down the road was good, lovely part of the world, would stay again!

hotel had a wedding on, waiting in reception for 10 minutes no staff but we were in the middle of the wedding party in our walking gear! we called the hotel a few times, someone did eventually answer and said they would get someone down but they called a mobile phone that was left on the reception. we ended up taking our keys that were left on the desk against our name with all our info on (data protection!) we didn't allow this to ruin our stay, this is just a consideration for the owners. maybe limit what you try and do with a wedding on. would have been nice to be followed up to apologise for the start to our stay but there we go. Its not a complaint as per, merely feedback to help improve

I stayed in one of the garden rooms. Very cute little room. Nice and warm Clean Good shower Nice little outdoor seating area Good Tv selection netflix available

The gravel (everyone wearing heels complained about this) also could be better lighting when leaving the main building on a night to the garden rooms. Also check in took forever and is not very efficient at all It seems very old school, with one person at a desk with paperwork. Definitely could have been done better standing for 40 mins in the middle of a wedding full of people to check in was pretty poor this could definitely be improved. Also the lady at reception didn't seem happy that people were wanting to arrange breakfast at the same time which we had paid for in advance and it was a wedding!! she seemed unhappy and 'put out' that the guests wanted the same time for breakfast this seemed a bit odd and unprofessional given how much money was spent at this venue on that day.

The accommodation "pods" were well-appointed and a bit quirky although initial impression from the outside wasn't great. As we were on a walk (and different accommodation each night), our luggage was sent on ahead via local luggage transfer company. When it arrived, staff had taken our cases to our "pod" for us. Breakfast was either in the main house or down the road at The Joiners Arms. We chose the house. Excellent breakfast: lots of good quality choice, busy staff a bit over-run as many of us descended at the same time. Loved the whole house (architecture, style, furnishings) and grounds (various garden sections). We had a wander. Everything was ready for a wedding the day after. Lovely venue for a wedding. All the staff were engaging and welcoming: in particular, the young woman at the reception desk and those at breakfast. Dinner at The Joiners Arms, part of the same company (down a narrow road): excellent meal - a shared fish dish was really tasty.

Being very picky: Shower water leaked outside the shower area. The Nespresso coffee-maker (very welcome) had to go on the floor to reach a socket. Very hot inside (on a cool evening) so we had to keep the sliding door open all night.

Beautiful antique mixed with modern decor, a very comfortable bed and a lovely deep bath. Bar and breakfast staff were very helpful. Fantastic grounds, beautifully kept. Wonderful breakfast with local produce. Would stay again but in a larger room.

Very minor things that can be easily remedied. There was no welcome from a receptionist on arrival. Another member of staff had to go and find them as they couldn't check us in. They were then unsure if our room was ready for 3pm check in and had go to find out. Cosy courtroom double, definitely cosy and quaint just enough room to squeeze past the bed. Large antique bathroom doors looked effective but they were difficult to open/close. No one was there to greet guests at breakfast as there was only one member of staff who was obtaining food from kitchen. We were woken up at 7am by staff moving a recycling trolley or the like across the cobbled courtyard outside our room.

Unexpected upgrade. Large spacious garden room apartment. Large sliding doors to private outdoor space with jacuzzi and chiminea. Attention to detail. Coffee machine. Option of breakfast in a bag - able to cater for gluten free, generous portions. Large powerful shower, good quality toiletries, luxurious towels and dressing gown. Beautiful surroundings.

Not a complaint but garden room venue was a surprise, all photographs on Booking.com show the manor house and not the other accommodation such as the very comfortable garden rooms.

This weekend I was visiting friends from a charity and stopped at Newton Hall Friday then Eshott Hall Daturday. The difference between the two was night and day and I’m pleased to say Newton Hall was fantastic with amazing guests and a wonderful room. I lived at a country house in Lancaster for a short time so understand how difficult it can be to cater for everyone’s needs but I felt Newton hall did an amazing job far exceeding my expectations starting from the welcome from front desk, showing me to my room to the end when leaving making time to get feedback. The room was wonderful and I really appreciate how much time and thought had gone into the room and it being prepared. I’ve been struggling with sciatica recently but has a nice soak in the bath before a restful nights sleep in a supportive bed. I particularly liked how the local area was showcased within the room through local products and thought this showed care and a touch of class. Thank you so much for a wonderful faultless stay and for your kind hospitality I would fully recommend yourself and look forward to stopping again in the future.

It was a nice location with a pub w/food a short walk away. The sea was also close by and walkable. Being right between Alnwick Castle and Bamburgh Castle was perfect. The bed was super comfortable and the shower nice and hot.

I must not have paid close attention as I didn't realize the "Cozy Garden Room" was a separate little cabin and we had to walk to the pub for breakfast. It would've been nicer to be in the main hall, which was beautiful. We only stayed 1 night so it was okay.

We were upgraded to a better room as offered when checking in. The room was beautiful. The decor and presentation of the hall overall was very good

We were upgraded to a room with a bath however were not able to purchase the bath butler service as said there were not staff to do this and needed more notice. However we were still able to use that bath which was lovely. There was no bath robes in the room, however were provided when requested.

An impressive hall with interesting decor throughout. Good parking available in the lodges next door and although no evening meals served on site its just a short walk into the village to gastropub. Breakfast was good and staff friendly.

I was not overly happy being asked for a £50 deposit on arrival. I stated that I have stayed in some of the best hotels around the world and never smashed them up but more importantly it sets the wrong tone. The only other suggestion for improvement I have is to make the plug in the striking steel wash basin work - seem to have got into a form versus function situation.

Breakfast options at the nearby Joiners Arms were excellent. Full continental buffet with additional hot options made sure we weren't hungry all day. The main hotel is a fantastic wedding venue and the decorations, gardens and function rooms were lovely. The bed was very comfortable (apart from the winter season duvet which was hot). The bed linen, towels, robes and toiletries were excellent.

The cosy garden room was quite dark inside with dim lighting in the bathroom, dressing cupboard and bedroom. Newton Hall is a fabulous, popular wedding location and we attended as wedding guests. There was no full length mirror in our room and the small dressing table with small round wall mirror above, was situated at waist height making it more suitable for children.
