The property was very friendly and inviting. They would do their best for you.
We couldn’t book in until 2pm. We got there just before. We then asked if we could have some lunch, the answer was no, as they stop cooking at 2pm. The pub only next door is great for food though. Also, if you struggle with stairs, this may not be good for you! Every room has at least 3 steps and to get into the property there is a slope. However the slope is very steep and slippery when wet of icy. These are the only 2 downsides to this hotel.

The staff were very friendly, booking went well no hitch and the short walk to the room was across the carpark. The room itself was a good size with the 2 single beds we required, Overall the room was clean and tidy, bathroom also clean and well presented. A bottle of still water was in the room which was filtered onsite which was a nice touch and also replaced when needed, The kettle was a small travel kettle but did the job that was required, with a selection of Tea, Coffee and Hot Chocolate with a small pack of local biscuits on each cup a nice touch. My Daughter is Gluten Free and unfortunate the Breakfast Menu only had a couple of options on, but even tho i had informed them a week earlier of this there was no option for the cooked breakfast as they didn't have Gluten Free Sausages available, The Cereal's were not suitable either so leaving only a small option for breakfast for her. Was informed they were let down by supplier.
The only letdown i found was the hairdryer in the bathroom was faulty with tape on saying Do Not Use, but an alternative was placed in one of the drawers. The table that had the TV sat on was not very sturdy and rocked side to side when placing anything on. The only other problem i had was the main door handle felt loose to close the door so ended up using the door knocker to do this.

We loved the location..the hotel's history, decor and the friendliest of staff. The hotel's chef was excellent so our breakfasts were delicious each and every morning.. Our room was very clean and nicely furnished however our bed was extremely uncomfortable. A real shame ..we don't know whether it was the design of the bed structure and the mattress being very soft or whether it was just the mattress but either way it meant for a very uncomfortable night. Apart from that our stay was lovely and the hotel is a good location for travel to other parts of the country with ease.
As stated above.

The staff was great. We were well received, and they took care of us really well. I only called the day before our stay to book for dinner, and even though they were busy, they still managed to accommodate us. We had dinner there and the food was great. The breakfast was included. It was not the best compared to other places where I have been, but it still was perfectly acceptable. Our bedroom was great, but it had definitely not been dusted in a while. Don't take me wrong. We had a great time, and I definitely recommend it, and we decided that we would rebook at some point and for more than one night.

What a Gem, a true find. I stay frequently in the area for work and now I have found this little gem and have already booked my next stay. Room was furnished with comfort and style, attention to detail with a lovely selection of beverages including local welsh produce, the most fantastic waterfall shower ever and the best night sleep I think I have ever had in a hotel. The building itself is gorgeous, beautifully renovated, wonderful small garden to wine down in the evening sun before enjoying a fabulous meal in the restaurant, the food was outstanding and great value for money. Thank you for such a lovely stay, I will be sharing how fabulous your hotel is with all visiting colleagues.
I wouldn't say I disliked it but more a suggestion and it certainly didn't impact my visit as I was still wowed. I dined alone in the restaurant as there were no other covers on the night I visited, it would of been nice for some background music as it was quite lonely, however the restaurant, crockery and food were all outstanding and I am already looking forward to returning.

This is one of my favourite hotels in the area, with an easy bus route right outside into Porthcawl (and a corner shop over the road if needed). I've normally stayed in the cottages rather than the main house (the apartment at the far end is great). The bar staff are effective and in the warm weather is it nice to site outside. I was not up for a large breakfast in the morning unfortunately, so just had a sausage sandwich rather than the proper breakfasts, which was unfortunate, I'm quite sure it would have been an excellent breakfast (and a good range of options).
I think on this occasion I would have preferred the cottages across the courtyard, I didn't really get on with the low archways through to the bathroom (in room 5), or the cupboard over the sink (both where I somewhat bashed my head), although that goes with the territory for old buildings, so it would be unfair to mark it down for that.

Beautiful hotel, great gardens, rooms and “cottages” are nice and exactly how they should be, they have enough mid cons but are authentic enough. Would definitely stay again if in that area!
Wasn’t too impress with one member of staff, she seemed very pre occupied and if asked I did feel like an inconvenience, also wasn’t too impressed with being charged £10 for a box of cereal and a slice of toast but I get that it is what it is!

Great location, as wanted a getaway place. Intended to explore Bridgend and Porthcawl, so it was very convenient to get there from the hotel. There was an excellent restaurant, El Prado nearby, that was easy to get to. Staff were excellent and very helpful. The room was really warm, and the box of tissues was helpful as I had a bit of a cold! The room was quiet, and you could practically park outside.
The room was quite dated and basic. The bathroom looked tired with old tiles and peeling paint on the woodwork. There was no facility for streaming channels on the TV even though the remote control had buttons for it. The accommodation was in a different building from the main photo too. The restaurant also only offered a 6 course tasting menu for a Friday night for around £60 which was quite steep for meeting another friend, so we chose a nearby local restaurant instead.

Stunning building with perfect parking. The room was amazing! The stage were so friendly and welcoming. I have to walk with a stick and it was so easy to move around. On the first night we did find the mattress very fine and uncomfortable but after one message to the reception, the cleaners had it sorted it next day with no complaints.
The hotel was just what we were looking for. Had no complaints apart from the mattress which was changed and sorted straight away.

Pleasantly surprised on walking into hotel, nice beer garden, bar/dining area looked lovely. Room was nice, big enough and clean and bed was lovely and comfy. Got back late in the evening after a wedding and the porter was happy to service us (Brian), he was friendly, chatty and accommodating. Had an al a carte breakfast for £10 which even included in Eggs Royale which is my favourite. All round couldn't fault this hotel and we would defo staying again if in the area.
Honestly there was nothing.
