It’s beautiful location, the history, comforting decor, pleasant staff, the lovely courtyard and grounds and relaxing atmosphere of the hotel.

Unfortunately we had issues around the cleanliness of the room - coffee mug and spoon left dirty from previous guests, damp towel left in the bathroom and dusty furniture - not what we were expecting for £300 per night

Beautiful historic hotel with plenty of period feature, art, furniture, history. We had the 'cheapest' room (at nearly £400 per night) and was 2 floors up in the main building. While it's amazing that dogs are so welcome, it was a problem with our elderly dog (I did not realise this upon booking so worth checking). The grounds of the hotel are stunning, from the courtyard to the back manicured gardens (perfect for dog walks and so quiet). Dogs are very welcome in most areas, so are families. The pool is available for family time twice a day Food is by celeb chef James Martin and - while good - pretty overpriced, but this is Broadway and it's expensive. We did not book hotel breakfast, we only had dinner one evening (grillmenu). The rooms were spacious and comfortable, with plenty of tea and coffee and towels, water, tv, internet. Oddly, no minibar (which was a problem to keep dog food mainly). Staff are very friendly, from reception to managers to housekeeping.

Other guests especially some in the pool (rude, using mobile phone to take photos, fully dressed pool side etc). Pool / changing rooms were not warm enough in our views.

The hotel and restaurant staff were excellent. Friendly, courteous, helpful and knowledgeable. Our room was in the main house and we were delighted that it retained so many of the building's original features whilst remaining both warm and inviting. The bed was large and the mattress very comfortable which helped with a great night's sleep. The breakfast options are extensive and it was well cooked and of very good quality.

We had an evening dinner reservation for the Grill restaurant. It carries James Martin's name which was one of the primary reasons we booked there having rather high expectations of it. Whilst the food was reasonably good, it was by no means exceptional and did not in our opinion represent particularly good value for money.

The staff are really eager to please. Lovely welcome on arrival. Staff showed me round and helped to arrange a fridge for my room. I had lovely dinners on both evenings. 2 Spa experiences were super relaxing. 10/10

Some huge inconsistencies made my stay really frustrating. This hotel aims to be excellent and mostly is, however jarring errors marred my stay unfortunately. Cold poached eggs served on both mornings. Unwashed salad on lounge snack lunch with insect on plate. 2 staff were asked separately for bill to sign at the end of dinner. Both then busied themselves doing other things. Had to stand and wait for bill at entrance in the end. Some deep cleaning in bedroom (8) and snagging would be very beneficial. 3/10 Reception listened to my concerns on departure and made some concessions.

We chose to stay at the Lygon for our honeymoon and had a wonderful time. Such a beautiful building, decorated by a trail of pumpkins and pretty lights when we arrived. We enjoyed people watching while enjoying a cocktail in the lounge areas. We particularly enjoyed sitting by the fires to read after a chilly walk. The cocktails were very well made and our room lovely, clean and warm. There is a beautiful Indian restaurant nearby, so good we went twice!

The staff were keen to point out amenities but did so at 100 miles an hour, we noticed that others were rushed around the building on their arrival too. We paid a large amount for a body massage, that also felt very rushed. The pool and jacuzzi area were a little sterile, we only used it once as it needed some colour or greenery. Bottles were emptied outside our room at 7.20am causing us both to wake.

Absolutely stunning hotel, staff were exceptionally good, room was clean and the bed was super comfy. Relatively baby friendly (we have a 4-month old) except no lifts in the hotel so we had to leave the pram in reception. Great location and excellent that there were two car parks for hotel guests too. Spa facilities looked top notch, although we didn’t use them.

The room itself was very hot. We tried to turn off the radiators many times but the knobs didn’t appear to be working so it was like a sauna. Thankfully there was a Dyson fan in the room.

Wonderful Hotel in a beautiful area. Very attractive grounds, all maintained to the highest level. The hotel had a number of very cosy snugs that added to the ambience. Our double room, in the Main House was wonderful. Such a comfortable bed, 2 large bottles of water, sumptuous bath towels. The Grill Restaurant was superb, the food exceptional. Breakfast was really good, so much choice and all delicious. All the Staff were gorgeous! Reception, Restaurant and Housekeeping. All very professional but friendly and efficient, kind and courteousLoved everyone’s ‘ uniforms’. Car Park worked well for us.

An updated deluge shower head would have been an improvement to the Bathroom.

We thought the staff were excellent and very helpful. The 2nd room (56) was very comfortable. Breakfast was good.

Our first room (40) was very small and almost impossible to use the toilet as positioned too close to a cabinet. To reach that room customers have to either walk through the main restaurant with cases or use an entrance off the high street, not acceptable at all. We thought the prices of food in the hotel was very high. For example, full English £20, most main dinner courses close to £30. Goodness knows what a bottle of wine would have cost?

We loved the property. I was at the Lygon last week with my mother for lunch so took my partner to see it and we will definitely be back. We loved the history of the property and all the different rooms . The courtyard is magnificent .

The Taylor / Burton cocktail - we were so Looking forward to it but after one mouthful we couldn’t drink it. Too much lemon juice and so acidic. We both have hiatus hernias so we knew we couldn’t drink it. We both had heartburn and acidic from just one mouthful. We did speak to the waitress and I was surprised she didn’t offer to change them and just took the full drinks away without offering a replacement so we ended up buying more drinks so was a waste of £30 unfortunately. I love the story behind the cocktail but think it could be delicious without so much lemon juice .

Beautiful building and location. Room was cozy and very comfortable bed. The Spa pool was much better than we expected However due to our short stay only had time for a quick swim. Staff were lovely especially on reception.

The service charge on drinks from the bar was a quite a surprise - 15% So two cocktails were £18.00 each however with the service charge this brought the cost close to £42 however what really stung though was the Negroni was really standard pub quality drink!
