really personal service at check in, carrying our bags and parking the car for us. And on check out same attentive service, car outside ready, bags carried for us. Super.

The twin beds could have been moved further apart, but I understand most rooms are set up for one bed. Mis mash of furniture styles in the room, the bedside tables look very worn, room 014. I understand the pressure hotels must have been through after covid but £189 for a room in Bury St Edmunds is expensive considering the room wasn’t what I call luxurious.

The breakfast was great and I full appreciated the accommodation of a gluten free option. Our dog was made to feel really welcome and was great to be able to enjoy the night away with our fur child in tow. The lounge area was stylishly decorated and a great place for our evening night cap and the cocktails were delicious. The concierge parking service was fantastic and meant we could off load the car alongside the hotel's side entrance with the parking of our vehicle taken care of. The dog friendly room had a very comfortable bed and great cotton linen with a shower over the bath - good hard water pressure with steaming hot water - just like I like it. The façade of the building covered in ivy is picturesque and the central location opposite the abbey gardens & ruins was great and perfect for enjoying the local food & wine festival being held.

I don't really enjoy shower curtains but that is so very minor, not a major issue and not sure a glass swing door would be practical given the layout. The coffee facilities and biscuits in the room were a lovely touch - would have been great to have had a gluten free option but again a minor detail.

Great location. Most of the staff were courteous, and the level of customer service was excellent.

The customer service was spoilt by one member of bar staff who spilt my cocktail and then became argumentative when I said it had splashed on my shoes. I could have forgiven the spill as the glasses the cocktail was served in were really too small, so the drink was actually level with the rim of the glass. But no, he had to argue that he had seen where the drink had spilt and it had not gone on my shoes, despite the fact I had to wipe them as they were wet. This incident put a bit of a dampner on what up until that point had been excellent.

Excellent location. Big disappointment that the cellar Bar is not open to the public since COVID! On the internet it is suggested that you go have a drink in the historic cellar Bar. So we did ask but told it was only for private functions! Also we did a Bury ST Edmunds Walking Tour which was excellent. The Guide talked about the Angel and we were all told to go to the Cellar Bars. IT IS HISTORIC AND SHOULD BE AVAILABLE TO SEE. So this should be available to the guests staying at the Hotel

The staff at the Angel are fantastic. From the moment we arrived we felt very welcome. We arrived early but it was no issue, our car was parked for us and suitcase carried up to our room when we checked in. The communication between staff is excellent. The room was as expected, we chose the Copper room with a gorgeous freestanding copper bath. Everything was extremely clean and well presented. We didn't eat dinner at the hotel as the restaurant was full, we left it too late to book a meal, but we did enjoy our breakfast the next morning. We had the choice of breakfast in our room or in the restaurant. The bar in the evening was very well managed, table service only meaning people weren't all stood round the bar. All staff are courteous and helpful, very well presented and efficient. We enjoyed our stay so much we've booked again for next year. I'd highly recommend this hotel, it's a beautiful building with lots of character.

There's nothing I didn't like. I just wish I had more time off work so I could have stayed longer.

Location is excellent. The hotel is lovely and the room was very nice but the furniture in the room was starting to look a little tired and could do with maybe replacing or freshening up with a coat of paint. Lovely bathroom but had an old 1980s orange looking pine wooden toilet seat that just looked so out of place.

Just needs a little bit of freshening up / updating with some of the furniture in the room.

Excellent location, very friendly and helpful staff e.g. carrying our bags to the room. The room was very comfortable.

We were disappointed that we were not able to arrange an afternoon tea at 4pm following our wedding at the Guildhall; this was in our opinion inflexible. Some aspects of the room require refurbishment e.g. threadbare carpet. Also for the price of the room (£280) we would expect breakfast to be included and the room should include a refrigerator.

I wish I couldve stayed longer! Everything was fantastic and so so comfortable... everything felt really luxurious and really high quality and the view out the window was fantastic. We also loved the valet service and the driver was such a nice man and also took our bags up to our room for us. Something that really stood out for us was the staff, the communication was so really great. We spoke with Millie a lot before we arrived and she was great at sorting out everything we asked for and the whole experience was really special for us! The night staff on reception were also really friendly

The room, indeed the whole hotel, has been refurbished to exceptionally high quality. The hotel is modern in an old building without losing its historical ethos, which it positively promotes. It is situated at the heart of the town, opposite the cathedral and Abbey Gardens and close to shops and the market place. My room was of generous size, and well-ventilated in the warm weather. The facilities were comprehensive and of an excellent standard. There was a good choice of breakfast options, and the food and service were also of the highest quality. The hotel deserves its excellent reputation.

I would rather not have had to hand over my car keys to use the hotel car park, but there is little space in this historic town, requiring the hotel staff to move cars around. The situation was handled well, with prompt, courteous and efficient service.

the room and environment were great and the breakfast was good quality and quick

i was asked to give in my car key even though i was not parked directly in the car park. This was to put a ticket in the car so i didnt have to park. This 'ticket; was actually a hotel compliment slip which i could have added myself. Not an issue except they lost my car key for 2 hrs . They were very apologetic and embarrassed but the whole thing could have been avoided as i could have just added the compliment slip to my dash myself and held onto the keys.
