An out of the ordinary experience staying at a place with such a long history, while walking the narrow floors and climbing the stairs you can feel the past centuries. The room was excellent, a lot of space with a big bathroom. The location is quite good being only a few minutes from the castle or the seaside. The staff was very friendly and helpfull. Breakfast was fine, not a lot of things on the menu but I suppose these are the things that locals usually eat for a good start of the day.

We had a room on the top floor and unfortunately the WiFi signal is really poor here, we were not able to use it in the bedroom. When the restaurant is full it can be loud, but if the restaurant and the streets are quiet there are still the seagulls that scream uninterrupted so either keep the windows closed or use the provided earplugs. We missed the vegetables from the breakfast, i would loved to have a few slices of cucumber or tomato with my omlette.

Great welcome. Stayed in a Queen suite ground floor. Didn't use all the kitchen equipment. Just to make a brew. Good bathroom with shower over the bath. Only used the bath so could not say if it was a great shower. Best sleep ever. Most comfortable bed I have ever slept in. Breakfast great. Very accommodating. Visited Public bar. Quite qwerky & small. Parking near & free.

People who can't shut doors properly. The noise from outside the bedroom window. Busy road. But earplug where supplied in the room if you wanted to use. THIS DID NOT SPOIL OUR STAY.

The staff are friendly and we got a warm welcome, the four poster bed is lovely feature

The breakfast menu has changed since my last visit which was very disappointing, also you now have to get your own tea coffee cereal and toast which some older customers struggled with and there was not always staff around to help. We used the restaurant in the evening, the food was nice but we had to wait quite a while The mirror over the dressing table needs lowering as you cant see into it to do hair or makeup while sitting on the chair provided

Our room was out of the main pub building, and a short walk round the back. Thus it was quiet. The Hotel is situated just inside the medieval castle walls, and very close to all independent shops/ eateries. Our room was clean, with comfortable/ good quality bedding. Bathroom facilities were good/ clean. I didnt mind the short walk outside from our room back into the pub dining room for breakfast. Quality / assortment of breakfast on offer was excellent. Although we could not park on same site as Hotel, there was a space we could pull into so that we could load/ unload. We needed to use a public car park about 500m from Hotel, but were given a voucher from Hotel proprietor, which entitled us to free parking during our stay.

This is a good all round place to stay. Excellent local staff in all departments from check-in to check-out, who work hard, are helpful and enthusiastic. Pub is olde worlde traditional and good for a decent pint and some food. Accomodation was modern, well thought out and very clean throughout. Good food for both breakfast and evening meal. Although I have not stayed here previously, have dropped in for food and drinks when in the area and always consistent. It seems to be a well managed place and the staff are the key to it's success.

If you want a quiet country pub, then maybe this is not for you. That is not in anyway a criticism, it's just a busy place in the centre of town.

The room was very clean and warm, there was plenty of tea, coffee and milk, the bathroom was very clean and there was plenty of towels, all together the room was very comfortable, we never booked breakfast but we had dinner, which was tasty nice portions and value for money. We will definitely be coming back, a very lovely inn, full of character, the staff very polite and really helpful.

There was nothing that we didn’t like, it was amazing 4 days.

great location as a base to explore the region. very friendly and helpful staff. Being an old historic property and inside the old town castle walls with narrow streets gives this location something special. very popular place for having a meal. The parking is free with a pass for the harbour car park next to the castle which is a 5 minute stroll, however you can drive to the property to drop off and pick up your luggage. The hot weather helped with our stay which allowed us to sit out side or in the enclosed court yard to eat and drink.

Cannot think of anything we didn’t like.

The inn is absolutely beautiful and you can feel it's history from the moment you walk in, there is such a homely feel, the staff are amazing and ever so helpful, kind and were very polite and open to all our silly requests we had (SORRY!). Bonus was when the chef didn't scream at the lady taking our breakfast order when my sister asked for her bacon to be extra crispy lol! The team were so accommodating for my mum who has a rather strict cultural/religious dietary requirements so had to bring her own and they very kindly let her eat that in the restaurant area - this was very nice on a diversity level. The team were also so kind in allowing us to keep our ice packs in their freezer which came in very handy for my dad's knee after climbing Snowdon and feeling slightly traumatised. It was interesting to hear the history from the staff showing how much they care and are engaged with their workplace which I believe makes a big impact on the experience your guests got because we certainly thought the Black Boy Inn was a very cool place! We most definitely will be coming back hopefully with a longer stay so we can read all the history artefacts around the inn.

What's not to like? You find something not to like and be sure to let me know how far you get with that!

We ate in the restaurant for the duration of our stay due to the excellent quality of the food. We would highly recommend the food & service at the Black Bouy, meals were of an exceptional quality, delivered very quickly

The only downside was the noise from the cobblestone road outside. Due to the heat, we had to leave the window open & the noise from the cars was loud, as the room was right next to the road. There was also a bar nearby that generated a lot of shouting late at night but this was only on a Friday night & the site does warn you it can be noisy.

Perfect location near to the castle and loads of bars and restaurants. Hotel is very old and full of character. Staff at reception was super helpful and very pleasant as was our server at breakfast. Room was very comfortable as was the bed, Shower was spot on(not always the case in older hotels) Parking next to the hotel for £10 a night but a free ticket for the Slate Quay car park a short distance away is available. Would not hesitate to stay again.

Nothing at all, hotel is spot on. Parking a bit of a problem if anything. Love to come back.
